Actually the Russians copied a lot of features from the US military wih the rails on the handguards and scope. They also improved the ergonomics on a proven AK platform and added better iron sights.

Even if Kalashnilov was a left hander, he would have been forced to write with is right hand as my father was. They beat my father every time he wrote with his left hand. They tried to get me to use my right hand but I couldn't do it and I continued to use my left hand.
In Russia the same anti left hander stigma exists and some of my friends who served in the Russian army said that in the Russian army you only shoot right handed.
I also had an ambidextrous lever on my S&W 59 which made it safer for me and would save my life if I had to use it in self defense.
I had one gun maker tell me theur 'expert' said that I should get training to use their pistol because they don't have an ambidextrous safety.

Bill Ruger was a dick when it came to anti gun laws but their guns are rugged and reliable. I read a lot of bad things about the Mini-30 but why would anyone want one when you were able to get an SKS or AK for less money?
The Mini-14 is a good rifle but it needs good quality magazines and there are a lot of lousy aftermarket magazines made for it.
The Mark I and later version pistols are simple and reliable plinkers and the 10/22 is the only .22 rifle to get.

First and foremost, the system is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Taking and holding personal property until a person is proven guilty is unbelievably irresponsible. Cars especially, are items that have a direct impact upon the wellbeing of a family. No car, no work, no money, no house....hello welfare. The wife who needs to work because her drunk husband is in prison for dui's, probably needs a car more than the greedy fucks who stole it.
That was true before the law was enacted and the Supreme Court said that it did not violate the Fourth Amendment. This is nothing but legalized government theft.

Nineteen years ago I read about some county near Monroe, La. where the police target motorists to confiscate their vehicles and the local prosecutor drives a Corvette taken in a bust. One man not only had his car taken but he was charged with possession of drugs because their drug sniffing dog found a trace in the ash tray. Now that man has a conviction and it cost him $7,000 in fines in addition to the car taken. This opens the door to police corruption to enrich the department (and probably some officers as well).

I wouldn't mind having one with a short barrel and a SIG arm brace. I feel that it will be reliable and cheaper to shoot than rifle ammo and may be the solution to plinking with the .22 long rifle availability and price gouging.

I remember that and it frustrated me that I couldn't afford it at the time. I never thought the Saigas were junk. Russians know how to make firearms that work and with Kalashnikov reliability. Genady Nikonov was the one who designed the S-12 from an AK to a shotgun and he did a great job. He also designed the AN-94 which had a two shot burst with a cable system.
The Catamount Fury could be a good shotgun or it could be another piece of junk coming from China. I have no way of knowing.

Are these sights available for purchase? I would like one even though I won't be able to use the side rail mounted optics with it. I never liked the AK open sights and prefer aperture sights especially now that I'm on my 50s.

I was on an airplane sitting at the gate in Atlanta years ago, and Jimmy Crater came in the door of the plane and started shaking peoples hands that where ALREADY seated, WAITING to back out and TAKE OFF, I had to fly coach because that's all the company paid for in the states. He got to my row, stuck out his hand and I looked at him and shook my head NO. That SOB looked at me like I had pissed on the Popes throne, I even had a stewardess whisper in my ear "that I really should shake his hand", and I said it loud enough to be heard, "I ain't shaken that stupid assholes hand". I think this was around 1982, maybe 83, but needless to say, if I'd have said that now a days, my lily white ass would be in the cross bar motel.
Funny part about it was, a couple of guys in the very back came up to me when we landed, slapped me on the back and said "good job", evidently word got around the plane about the "rude ass redneck up front".
Now, I did meet Lou Holtz (spelling) at Hanger 1 in B'ham while waiting on a private corporate jet to fly me to a job, I was greasy, dirty, tired, and had my tool box in my hand, but this man singled me out to shake my hand and talk to me, I guess because I was standing away from everybody and looked like "can I just get the fuck outta here", but that man, is FIRST CLASS and always be in my book
