  1. hi, i have a fenix tk11 on mine, fenix slant mount on a section of magpul strip.

    take it easy

    cricket

that is EXACTLY what I wanted.. can you tell me what part of the grip the rail is attached to? is it solid? I expect to beat the shit out of this gun so don't want anything half assed..

    thanks..

  2. Or, you could just fabricate something like this from a cheap section of rail to use with the Arsenal handguard retainer, for a cleaner, more factory look:

    (stole pics from another forum)

Cut rail to desired length, countersink holes for screws:

I actually had considered picking up the arsenal rail and cutting like 3 sections of rail off the front.. (I dont need all that rail in front of the gas block..)

but was not sure how it would come out.. still leaning towards that at the moment..

I am sure I could cut off the front 3.. but not sure if I should leave at least a couple pieces of rail to stabilize it in the front.. leaving 3 screws total..

  3. sounds great.. does a brake or other muzzle attachment (besides a choke) cause any change in ability to cycle?

Someday, I plan to do a 11.5" and use a Polychoke on it. It think that a choke is the only thinhg that will "simulate" additional bore.

ok then we are on the same page.. something like a flash hider or brake since it is open.. is likely going to do nothing to add functional length to the barrel..

an 12in with a choke MIGHT cycle like a 14in barrel..

a 12in with a brake is going to cycle like a bare 12in barrel..

  4. My SBS was cut down to 12.5" without shortening the gas system. The only gas work involved was adding 1 additional port and opening the 3 factory ports. Cycles everything. I have also reprofiled and polished the bolt, carrier and hammer to reduce friction.

great.. I reallly just want a little off the front.. 14-15 in would probably do it for me.. just want it a LITTLE smaller..

  5. Regarding shotgun recoil and a light. I had a NEBO ProTec HP190 on my Saiga and it lasted 12 shots and the LED unit disassembled itself. The dealer replaced it but said no more. So what kind of light will take the recoil?

    Castalia

since surefire sells lights specifically to be used on pump guns.. I am going to go out on a limb and assume they would handle the light recoil of an S12..

just going to go with the arsenal rail that mounds on the gas block.. might cut it down a hair so it is a little smaller..

  6. going to bring it to my friend and have it tig welded.. is that my best most safest option? anything he needs to know about welding it that he wont already know? he is a really good welder.. but being 4 hours away likely wont get together with him till after xmas...but suppose I can wait in favor of getting good quality work done..

  7. no worries man. im not butt hurt here. i purposely put these airsoft stuff just because i already had them from my airsoft weapons. ive read a lot of the mall ninja threads on here and on calguns so i know the opinions are predictable, similar and i welcome them. i already know where you guys are coming from and i agree that these airsoft pieces should not belong on the gun.

anyways i just made a large purchase today from CSS.

    CSS Conversion kit

Black MOE stock w/ aluminum tube

    ATI grip

Low brass reliability kit (spring, puc, v plug)

    JTE performance power hammer spring

Black Cheek riser for MOE stock

the only dislike I had was looks over function...

    BUT

at the end of the day... you are a gun enthusiast just like I am.. so I hope no hard feelings.. as long as the gun does what you need it to do when you need it to be done.. that is all that matters..

good luck with the gun.. the rail itself definitely looks solid..

  8. I am not a welder... have not done any welding since high school and that was over a decade ago...

no gun guys in my area do welding.. I have a good friend who is a GOOD automotive welder but he lives 4 hours away...

I do have an ox/ac torch that I have used to cut things.. it came with rods? can I use this torch to weld/braze on the sights? if so what is the process.. a little help.. of course I will practice since I have never done anything like this before..

ultimately if I do bring them to my friend and he welds them is there anything he should know is any part of this overly tricky?

I understand the "shade tree mechanic" nature of my question... but I didn't get all my Saigas done waiting for someone to come do them for me.. but I also don't want to half ass it..

    thanks..

  9. In the process of moving to free America and at some point would like to take a little off the end of my Saiga.. I have converted a bunch of the rifles and am very familiar with them.. now I know it varies from shotgun to shotgun.. and people have all kinds of different experiences... gun as it sits today is factory... that is changing shortly and I am trying to develop a game plan.. gun cycles heavy ammo fine.. has some issues ejecting super light ammo.. I mostly just shoot heavy ammo anyway.. but may look into things like low brass reliability kit once I am SURE the gun is FULLY broken in and if the inability to shoot light ammo gets to be annoying.. gas ports are present and clear (3 ports).... generally speaking.. and I know there is no general.. but how much can i likely take off the barrel without loosing functionality and without greatly altering the gas system..

I understand the legal aspect of this and would jump through those hoops..

  10. I guess this is a good place to ask. What sort of flashlight do you use that has no problem with the s-12 kick. I know the kick on a 12 gauge and any non led light are not going to get along well.

will likely run a Surefire.. that is what I have run on my other guns.. surefire in a vltor mount has been nice.. never had one on my S12.. but the recoil doesn't seem all that horrible? open to suggestions..

  11. I love the Kvar grip and want it oh so bad. but it has no official space for a rail, so I cry myself to sleep every night. I too wondered if a rail could be mounted via the vent holes, but it looks like a curved surface so I have doubts. oh and drilling and screwing isn't an option for me, too ghetto.

if it works.. and it is solid.. I don't consider it ghetto.. cool.png

I like how the arsenal one mounts to the block.. but it is just really ugly..

  12. last time I checked this was an internet forum where people could express views and discuss/exchange ideas...

my comments were not intended to "talk shit" but were instead meant to state reality.. investing time and effort in installing a good heavy duty rail.. only so you could hang a bunch of low quality airsoft accessories (that would likely shake themselves apart within the first 100 rounds) to me is silly.. and so my opinion was made..

if he was not after opinions my guess would be he would not take several pictures of his gun from every conceivable angle and posting them online

  13. im cutting the tang on mine..

with a cut tang and an internal block..

I can use any ace offering.. a lot of the other (red jacket, tromix, etc..) and additionally I can use AR15 stocks.. also easily add a folder.. for me it was a no brainer..

  14. Instead of drilling the grip you could buy a section a rail and drill two holes in it and use longer screws in the handgaurd retaining mount or you can sell the K-var grip and go with a factory railed handgaurd.

looking to mount flashlight so underside probably isn't realistic..

  15. During a one week class at Front Sight, about 18 of us fired AK's and Glock 17's, thousands and thousands of rounds. I never saw a single stoppage from any of the Glocks, but 3 of the AK's went down, including mine. One of the legs on the trigger broke off causing the hammer spring to jam the trigger. I am not sure what went wrong with the other two guns.

crazy... thanks for relaying the story.. I would also be interested in what FCG it was..

  16. someone on another site was talking about how they would rather have a MN because it is a bolt gun and less likely to fail.. I then stated if you lived long enough to see an AK47 reach end of life... then you might as well "cash out".. implying that the guns literally run forever with next to no maintenance.. so that got me thinking.. I have had MANY apart.. and I understand the gun inside and out.. how many of you have ever broken your AK? what broke? I have yet to break anything that caused the gun to not work..

  17. exactly as the title says.. there are two.. one is $60 and one is $80.. is the $80 one that much better?

and as an aside.. the "stormwerkz" one? maybe just order that one? open to suggestions..

likely going with an ACE stock.. there are tons of options.. but I have an ACE stock on my 7.62 and thing is great...
