  1. LOL yea I was just reading that thread and thought ooops "there's a sticky I missed". Thanks for replying anyway guys.
  2. 7.62x39 Saigas are designed to exhibit this ring. This tells the Russian police that the round was fired by a Saiga and not an ex-military Kalashnikov. Ah ok, I thought the sharp dent on the body of the casing was how you knew it was a saiga vs an AK. Now that I know this is normal I gotta find out how they make it so saigas do this.
  3. I was looking at my fired casings and noticed there's a ridge on the spent cartridges. This is Golden Tiger and it's been functioning flawlessly 300 rounds so far. Just curious if this is normal for fired casings.
  4. The first day was mostly wolf military classic but today was just golden tiger. Golden tiger seems much more consistent, doesn't smell bad, and was only 9 more dollars per 1k.
  5. So my first time out with the gun 3 weeks ago was like this I went ahead and ordered a sight tool and it made a huge improvement. I even spent the last 20 rounds shooting at the 300 yard 12 inch gong and hit it 5 times woot! Here's my newest target at 50 yards iron sights. Using a 6 o clock hold was also amazing as I can put the tip off the front sight on the bottom of the black circle and always have a consistent place to aim. Thanks for all the help as there were alot of people on this board who helped me learn what direction I turn/drift the sights to correct windage/
  6. umm knock it right? Knocking it right seems to make sense since the front sight did come knocked waaaay left from the factory.
  7. Put 200 rounds through it today at 50 and 100 yards. My only question is which direction do I drift the windage pin on the front sight if my shots are hitting to the right. Assume I'm looking down the barrel from the rear sight when you say drift it "right or left".
  8. Thanks for the advice guys, I'll see how this saturday goes at the range.
  9. well hopefully this saturday the bullets at least hit the paper or I'm going to have alot of adjusting.
  10. wow I feel so stupid. I just read http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/toolkit.htm and figured out that the little tube that holds all the little parts can be used for so many things! I was using pliers to turn the gas tube lever but the slot on the tube gives you much more leverage. Learned so much already...and its only been a day lol.
  11. Ah this tool makes it look easy http://www.ultimak.com/AKST.htm any other good sources for a good tool.
  12. So I picked up my new saiga yesterday and field stripped and cleaned/lubed but noticed the front sight is sorta off. Now I haven't shot the rifle but I will this weekend but was wondering if these pins shown in the pics are what you tap to adjust the sight left and right. If you notice on one side the pin sticks out slightly which makes the post closer to one side than the other. Are some saigas just going to be sighted in like this or do you think they just didn't tap the pin all the way before leaving the factory. I don't have a front sight tool so will hitting it with a punch and hammer be
  13. I just got a saiga in 7.62x39 and was wondering if you guys know of some good places that sell 10 rounders. Yea I know but I'm in california so that's all I can get.
