  1. I have a low mounted with rings, i like it low as its a more natual position for cheek on stock, if you want to use open sights just slide the side mount off, try a few types out, what ever feels right for you ,buy it!

  2. Hi, the more girls here the better, at my local range its almost always just us men, when a woman turns up and shoots there are comments like girls cant shoot and and that will knock her on her arse! nothing makes me happier than when a loud mouth jerk get out shot by a skinny little woman! although you have been here longer than me id just like to say welcome!

  3. I really wish someone made a 12ga bullpup with bottom eject for those of us that are leftys. I wasn't always left handed, but due to an injury to my right hand, I am now...... so I can't just learn to shoot right handed.

    Oh well.

    Corbin

The only way I can figure bottom eject it to turn the weapon on it's side, might be doable with linkage.

Hmm, It solves my mag clearance where I want to put my Pistol grip. Makes it L side load.

It might throw shells at your arm if your right handed and tuck instead of chicken wing.

This is what I have so far.

The only snags are for rightys. Ether the mag will be a spot to rest your chin, a spot that smashes your chin, or a Adams Apple tenderizer.

interesting looking project, how are you going to operate the triggermech, is that a bowden cable coming out of the reciever?
  4. Hi, a while back i experimented with putting a 209 primer in the front of a lee 1oz slug, i just drilled a hole to suit the primer and gently pushed it in flush, loaded it as normal, fired it into a gravel bank and it set the primer off on impact. the idea was to get a bit more nock down power on steel plates .to be honnest i only made 5 and shit myself every time i pulled the trigger. i wouldnt try it now im a bit older and smarter. i have heard that diesel exploades on compression, perhaps a slug filled with diesel would be a safer option?

  5. Well done, next time you should load up with buckshot and do the rifle section with it, those targets at 25 to 30 yards should be no trouble and you may even kick some ass. i have used my moss 590 in the rifle section of our fairly tame 3 gun match, i only had slugs but still managed quite a few hits but lost huge time on the reloads, saigas wont have that problem!

  6. Try swapping the magazine tube as well if the 2 threads bother you, the bolt locks into the barrel extension so as long as this is happening the gun is safe to fire assuming headspace is correct. i had no problemes with any extra threads but i guess production tolerances chang over the years and different models.

  7. My wife the wonderful woman she is bought me a S12 for V-Day. I am at Camp Eggers Afghanistan for 5 more weeks so I was not with her when she bought it. She bought me an S12 with a 24" barrel and I really had my heart set on the 19". Does anyone know if I can buy a 19" Barrel for a S12 like other Shotguns or do I need to take it to a Gunsmith and have it shortened?

    Thanks,

    X.

Treat yourself to a 19inch when you geet back, you deserve it. and you will have two saiga 12s, its a win win situation!

  8. They are the biggest gun shop in the county and i think they do send overseas, many kiwi shooters only buy there as a last resort, their prices are much higher than other dealers but they bring in some interesting things and sometimes you have too! with the exchange rate so good for you guys it may be worth picking one up.

  9. Bead blasting is all that is required, sand blasting is overkill and could damage small parts and loose profile(machined edges) i worked a phosphating (you call it parkerising)plant for about 4 years when i was an armourer, doing overhaul on all small arms held by nz army. everything was stripped, degreased , beadblasted then all grit blown off with compressed air(do this properly or things gum up afterwards) run through the plant and finally soaked in oil for about an hour. to make barrel plugs use medical rubber cord, and poke it into chamber and muzzel.

  10. Well sure, who'd you shoot with a population density of 15 ppl/km^2.

well done, i didnt even know that! i live in the south island ,there are even less people here.

we have almost no gun crime compared to the US, i did see on the news tonight that we have had 21 people shot dead in hunting accidents in the last 10 years. what sort of stats do you have over there?

  11. Thanks for the info guys,

firstly, i dont intend to shoot anybody with them, in new zealand you can not use a firearm to defend yourself! a few people have done so and got off but its just not necessary here. i work in the high voltage substations and every now and then we get possums on the live gear running about untill they short themselves out trying to cross back to earth (even 33kv shorting to earth causes a fair amount on damage to our equipment). i want a very light round that will knock them down without damaging the porcelan insulators or live lines.

very sensible idea about using a full length wadd or brown paper to wrap the plug i may even try and get some of those rubber balls, last thing i want is a blow up!

    cheers

  12. hi, im thinking about making some less lethal 12ga ammo, i have some inch thick rubber and i intend to punch out plugs and load them up.

so ammo gurus, should i use a normal wadd or just one of those cups that go over the powder? any idea on what weight of powder? also interested in trying some bean bag rounds, has anybody made any?

i dont think these will be powerful enough to run my saiga but should go fine in my 590. also interested in any other less lethal loads you may have made?

    cheers

  13. ideal length of pull is generally found by holding the pistol grip with your master hand and the but plate should near enough reach the crook of your elbow. it is a personel thing and some like it shorter and some longer, im also 6.2, i find a standard ak uncomfortable to shoot but my vepr has a much longer stock and i shoot much better . try a few different lengths and see what feels and performs best and go with that!

  14. I got an email from nelson pistol club, it was sent to all pistol clubs (probably sent to rifle clubs too) by the nz police. it basically said nz customs was on the look out for illeagly imported firearms parts, especially incorectly labled things, (there are comments on imas about it in the import export section) if they find it they will screw you! i think it pretty rude and they should be looking for drugs but i suppose the drug dealers like pistol grips and 30 round mags too. check out imas

  15. ill check out the gun parts guy, i think it may be a bit dodgy using the airsoft parts label, if customs found it you would have to do some fast talking!i dont mind getting a permit as i have a lot to loose. i got one of those quick release mounts and i had to shim it to get the red dot to zero, havnt used it much but it has a lot of flexin it, but it is a shotgun soproably dosnt matter.
