  1. I think once we remove the top section of the cetme mag the body of the mag is the same shape as the saiga mag all thats missing is the two loc up tabs which can be welded on. I think by just looking at it, it will work. I matched it up to the saiga mag since i have some extra cetme mags sitting here. My Cetme did jamb once but i changed the recoil spring to a new one and i picked up a new buffer for it. Now it shoots ok and its well worth playing with it to get it right if you get one with problems. After shooting it just once i understand why these guys would hang in there and fix them. I have never shot a semi-auto thats so smooth, it kind of feels like the recoil of a 22lr for there is nothing felt when i shoot it. Now after shooting my one new saiga/308 I'm on the prowl for another one too maybe a .223. My only problem is I was never fond of the .223 round. As a varmit round it takes a back seat to the 22-250 and its passed by the 7.62x39 too in a deer round so its just a matter of saying i have one in .223?? I may take a look at the other saiga sporting rifles too I see they offer a 30-06 and 270win also. I wish my dealer had them all to choose from. BigBill

  2. I won't chop my gun either to fit a larger mag. but i believe the cetme 30rder will fit with no mods. Now i would like to see a pistol grip stock rather than take my trigger and move it up. Since they make pistol grip stocks for shotguns they should make them for our saiga's too. I think the pistol grip on my saiga is the only thing missing besides a 30rd mag too. Sometimes i think a 30rd mag wouldn't be good either because of my finger problem that could cause an ammo supply problem? (just kidding but its true?) The only time it stops shooting is when the mag is out of ammo. I went thru 60rds so fast while having fun, we all blasted away with it and loved it. Now when i go blackbear hunting I just may take two guns in my stand my 338win.mag and my 308 saiga too. Overall I'm sure happy I picked up a saiga/308. UKP

BTW; My Cetme G3 308 is the smoothest semi-auto I have ever shot so far. It has no recoil at all. The Egyptian hakim comes in second and the saiga comes in third in the recoil department. I think if it had a muzzle brake it would be better on the muzzle climb what little it has. I'm not knocking the saiga in anyway and i would never give up my saiga. Its an "AK" that shoots 308 and its the size of a paratrooper sks. Its light weight is a factor in the recoil department too.

  3. I think converting the G3 will be easy since its the same shape once you take off the upper tac welded loc up for the G3 rifle. Then the mag has the same shape as the saiga mag and its only missing the loc up tabs which is easy to weld on. Just looking at it, it doesn't seem no biggie to do. I have some low temp weld thats good for 20,000lbs tenslie strenght so it will never come apart and the low heat means no distortion in the mag body too. I'm in the middle of hunting season right now but after turkey day I'll built a 30rder for my saiga. UKP

  5. Ok what your saying is the scope is still off and your out of adjustment right?? The scope has to be on an angle because the adjustment ranout. I would look down the centerline of the bore and try to see which way the scope is angled. Now it could be a scope problem too because i have found some scopes don't have enough adjustment I bottomed out the adjusting screw before it was even bore sighted. I switched to a better scope and it had more adjustment. But i would check the centerline to make sure the mount is parallell to the bore first. I would uae a small level to level the barrel(top of the reciever first) then install the scopemount and see how much off it is? UKP

Are you bore sighting it?? On guns I can't bore sight I would take the bolt out and adjust the scope to a branch or a wire, something off in a distance you can see thru the barrel at the sametime and adjust the scope to it, then sight it in at the range dead on. It should put you in the ballpark and on the paper at the range.

  6. I have a G3 30rd mag that if I pop off the upper tac welded upper bracket on it, it seems to have the same shape exactly as the saiga mag and its only missing the loc up tabs which i believe can be added on. When i get some spare time i'll make one up. I was a welder fabricator and i believe there is a welding process for the loc tabs tha twill work. UKP

  7. I have heard worse about the new m1a's having quality problems too? I'm not going to pay $1,200 for a gun and have problems. I won't buy anything american made. I've had trouble with everything i bought. I only buy older military surplus guns and one of my best ones in 308 is a French 49/56 the other one i have is a Cetme G3 which i'm very happy with too. The saiga is one of the few new guns i own. "UKP"

  8. I get mine from McMaster Carr Industrial supply there in New Jersey and there on the net. I'm using the moly anti-seize and Mcmaster has it in the premium blend it has a higher percentage of moly. Go to McMaster Carr and search "anti seize" halfway down the page the moly anti seize is there. I use it in everything(all my guns). The best part is it stays where you put it and doesn't dryout you can store the gun and its ready to rock n roll at anytime thats great if the SHTF!!! You can feel the difference right away. I put it in all my handguns on the sears in revolvers and the slides in semi-autos too. In my bolt action rifles on the bolt lugs and on the sears. Here's something I notice no one does from some of the used semi auto rifles i purchased lately they don't lube the recoil spring??? All my recoil springs are moly'ed up too just a little will do. I use it too in all my gas systems too in my sks's just a little will do. It can take the heat and keep on ticking this is the best lube you can use. I've used it since the 70's. My very first chinese sks that i bought when they were first imported here I've shot for all these years shows no sign of wear at all. All my guns will last my lifetime so they can be handed down for the future generations in my family to come. They will enjoy for many years the toys that i will leave for them when i pass on and they will remember what Great Great Grandpa started. We must plan ahead for them now and who knows what it will be like in the future to have guns? Who knows what they will be able to buy by then? unkown poster

  9. First I took me sometime to get my 308 saiga my local gun shop is selling out of them so fast the rack is always empty!!!!! But i finally got one!!!! It has to be the biggest thing since the chinese sks was first imported here. I think the saiga is the most bang for the buck we can buy right now!!!! Where can you buy a rifle that is reliable and dependable as an "AK" designed rifle?? Now make in the 308 caliber and it gets my vote!!! And it has a chromed lined bore/ gas system too for $289!!! I'm ready to go for another one!!!! I'm a C&R collector but I'm going to collect saiga's too.

After cleaning my new saiga I deceided to try using "moly" inside the reciever and on the trigger like i have with all my other guns. Right away it lessened and smoothed out the trigger. The slide feels much better with it lubed correctly too. Moly is great stuff it elimates all friction, reduces all wear and galling. Moly also reduces all metal to metal contact as it works into the metal pores it wears against itself. It sure makes a big difference in the Saiga. Using it on trigger sears it lesson s the trigger pull by 50% right away and more as it works in.
