  1. No, that one does not have the proper mounting bracket, or reticle. It is also a bit large for an x39 IMO.

I would recommend this one, it is a 4x24 specifically made for 7.62x39 with proper range finder and bullet drop chevrons. It is a bit heavy in 4x24, I would not recommend going any bigger due to weight concerns, but that is up to you. 4x24 does great for me out to 200yds.

This one, PSO, is even nicer, but a bit privier.... http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/rifle-scopes/pso/pso-4x24-illuminated-rifle-scope-w-german-post-reticle-ak-version.html

Thanks for the link. The following caught my eye in the description of the first scope:

"Since the range calibrations for both the AK and SVD versions on both the 1000 meter Dragunov and 400 meter Simonov models are measured in equal amounts of MOA, all versions of the POSP can be used effectively with any caliber of weapon. "

I don't get it. How can the same chevrons work for bullet compensation in 2 different calibers? Are they saying that 7.62x39 and 7.62x54 happen to drop by the same amount at 400m and 1000m respectively so the same chevrons can be used for differing distances for those 2 calibers?

ak and svd have differing mounting brackets?

  3. So it kind of works as a booster like a Krink flash hider I take it?

A blank firing device plugs the barrel almost entirely to create enough back pressure so that most the gases get in the port, push the piston and cycle the next round.

Since it plugs most of the barrel hole you can't fire regular rounds with it. It would not be a good idea at all; most certainly it would be your last idea.

  4. The easiest way to understand 922r is to evaluate whether or not the BATFE will allow a rifle (as configured) to be imported. Is is 'sporting'?

    ...

FYI - from the ATF's perspective - all magazines that take more than 10rds are LCMMs whether they are used by a military or not.

I see. How does that differ from a standard Saiga that can accept US-made 30rd magazines made for the Saiga?

  5. True, but what you have done is violated the letter of the law in regards to 922. You now have the ability to use high-capacity magazines. Should you be found in constructive possession of such mags then this would become a flagrant violation of the law.

So I take that it is legal as long as no 11 or more round mag is in the gun. I can take it to the range with its 10rd mags, a regular AK and 30rd mags and it would be legal as long as the 30rd mags are not inserted in the rifle.
