Get into FAL's. They're great rifles, fun as hell to shoot and powerful too. You already have 5.56 and 7.62x39 rifles, why not .308?

Army, 6 1/2 years, 1999-2006. Joined right after high school. I got to see the world and then some. It was mostly fun (Korea & Germany) but Iraq sucked. It's hot, dusty, and I found out that dead people smell really bad after a couple days in the sun. The flies are outrageously large too.

Saiga 12's are legal in Michigan. I'm in Michigan and I have 2 so that's how I know. If you put a folding stock on one with a 19" barrel then you will have to register it as a pistol. It's lame but that's the way it goes. You can obtain one by buying one at a gunshop (depends on where in MI you are) or ordering one off the internet. Either way works. And no, I will not sell you mine. I love them and we are very happy together. Good luck.

I'm in.

I have 2 S12's and they both have the cover on them. I really like the way it looks. It definitely adds something to it.

Krebs sights. Nice ghost ring setup, easy target aquisition. No welding required

I have a NATO length KVAR stock and it is still too small for me. You should get some kind of buttpad to add length and thickness to your stock. It's easier than getting a new stock.

I ended up going the cheap route and just put a slip on recoil pad on it. It's a lot easier than getting a new stock. I have a Tromix folder stock on my other S12 and I really like it. It's wide and very comfy. I recommend paying the extra bucks for it.

I just got my other S12 back from my gunsmith and I had him put on a NATO length K-var buttstock on it. Well, I don't like it much. It's a little small and thin and I'm looking for something beefier in the same style. I was thinking of the TAPCO AK original style buttstock. It looks thicker and wider which is what I'm looking for. Could any of you guys that have this buttstock give me a little info on how you like it? Or any other buttstocks that you like. No folders please as I already have an S12 with a folder and I don't want another. I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Order # 4439 received last night. Beautiful, just like last time.

I like C.G.A They're business members here and Russell is a great guy. I've had one fully converted and another in the process and I'm totally happy with them. He's got great customer service too.

I like my Krebs sights. They are simple, don't move, and allow me easy target acquisition.

I got 2 of Mike's first run drums and they are worth every penny. They work flawlessly with MOST types of ammo. The gas plug is only for clearing up a few problem types of high brass rounds, not all. If you want your drum to be ultra reliable then feed it the right type of ammo. If you don't want to buy a cool adjustable gas plug then cancel your order and make your own drum.

I ordered a couple of AGP's from Carolina Shooters Supply and they have really fast shipping and the best price I've seen. And, if they're out of stock, you can order direct from AGP for $49 per mag. NOBODY should pay the gang rape prices on GB.

I've been seeing them routinely selling for $900 at our local gunshow. What a ripoff! I tell people to do a little research and save themselves $300.

I like Russell at CGA. He's a business member here and a real good guy. I put up pics of my S12 under his link in the business section. Check them out. He did a great job at a good price.

I'm in Michigan and I've had to go through this. You will have to get a pistol purchase permit if you get a folding stock. The OAL with stock folded is 29 inches. That's with a 19 inch barrel. If you get the 24 inch barrel and a folder kit that doesn't require modification to the receiver you may be able to get around the permit. . I know having an extra long barrel defeats the purpose of getting a folding stock but... the law is the law. Hope this helps.

I got mine done by a guy named Russel Findlay. He ordered all my parts for me, only charged cost + shipping and sent me tons of pics and updates. From the time I first talked to him to the time I got my gun was about 2 weeks and that's only because he had to wait for parts. And she's a beaut, too. I recommend him highly. PM me and I'll give you his #. Tell him Ryan sent you.
U.S. Army Agrees That The M-4 Sucks
in Other Weapons - RIFLES (non-AK based)

I've been to Iraq and used both the M16A2 and the M4 and I don't like either one. Yes, it is accurate. Yes, it is light. But using standard issue ball ammunition it doesn't provide very good penetration of light to medium cover. And there is lots of cover in an urban environment. Plus, generations of GI's have beat the shit out of their rifles and they malfunction regularly because of it. Nothing is Joe proof and the M16 family of rifles is just too finicky for the wars we fight and the amount of abuse they take. I cleaned my M16 daily and lubed sparingly and it STILL jammed constantly.
Most of it was probably magazine related but shit man, get me a rifle that will WORK! I had a bolt-override in the middle of a firefight and about shit my pants. I had to take cover and wrestle the round out with my gerber. That's unsatisfactory. When I got out I went with the " right arm of the free world" and have never looked back. I like my FAL far better than the M16, I like the round (7.62x51) far better too. You can definitley shoot through some light to medium cover with this puppy. Scrap the M-16, get a real working rifle and a better round and let our soldiers fight the way we are trained and our wars will swiftly be over. That's my 2 cents.
