  1. Have other historical guns had success with double stack mags using a rimmed round? The British SMLE comes to mind..also the Russian Nosin Nagant. (speelled wrong?) How about the various double stacked .22rf Ruger 10-22 high cap mags?

Sounds like a fun project to me. Seems like all you would need to show is a propriatory (sp---again) widget that allows/keeps the rimmed 12 gage rounds from double feeding or from rim over rim stopages and stuff. Or..how about a double drum single feed Saiga 12 drum?

Of course one would reach a point when a Saiga 12 50 round drum mag would be way over the top and almost useless because of the bulk and weight if nothing else, but then agin, when confronted with zillions of Zombies...what is one to do? HB of CJ (old coot)

  2. Best answer already given. Make sure it is empty, then lube the heck out of the shotgun,(including the hammer/trigger group) then hand cycle the action several HUNDRED times. Dry fire it each time. You will NOT hurt it.

You probably will smell the odor of hot metal, which is exactly what it is. You are burnishing in the action of your mighty AK sporting shotgun. This saves time and ammo and is kinda fun in its own way.

Spare firing pins are available. Tromix "Heavy Hitters" I have one, but haven't needed it yet. THEN...put the gas regulator on #2 and start out with Wally World cheap low base. Federal has a little bit more powder. HB of CJ (old coot)

  3. You can easily tune your Saiga 12 to shoot the light Wally World low base birdshot loads. Just get either an after market adjustable gas regulator with 4 positions instead of two, or order out the complete set of "twister" pucks, one for mag loads, one for high base and one for the weak low base loads.

My Saiga 12 now has 12 gas positions, but with some overlap.(4X3) Anyhow, switching out the pucks is a 2 minute job (max) and my adopted Russian daughter named (appropriately) "Betty Bucker" shoots anything just fine. HB of CJ (old coot) :)

  4. BULLSHIT!!! LOL!!!

Man I am a land lover, i get sick in big lakes. A few years back we rented houseboats on Dale Hollow lake. Outside of a fishing boat this was my first time on water for an extended time. WELL I was fine until they broke out the grill and made about 15 stakes!!! Promptly after grupping out I got sOOOOO sea sick...ugh!!

But dam, thats alot of boos!!! And our Navy did a land raid on the UK/Scotland?? Man I need to brush up on my pre 1812 history....

  6. Great thread and posts. Thank you. Oh boy. I for one would pay big $bucks$ for a RELIABLE 8 to 10 rd double stack stick mag. Probably the best compromise of length, weight, capacity and market.

Can a double stack 12 gage mag be made to work? Dunno. Rimmed fat shell. Look at the detachable 10rd .303 mag from the S.M.L.E.. The British made it work just fine. Straight double stack.

Can the Saiga feed a pure double stack or would it have to reduce to a single stack under the bolt? Can a plastic mag be made heavy enough? The Thermold types come to mind. Excellent.

Anyway, I would lean more towards quality and just bite and pay the $price$, if it was kinda within reason. However, the double stacks would really have to work. HB of CJ :) :) :)

  7. Hi. New guy here. Still feeling my way around this EXCELLENT FORUM! I'm now a happy camper. Question...Which box mag size is the best choice? Five, eight or ten round size? Thinking tactically and realiability. Sorry if I'm reasking the obvious--still settling in and don't know this forum yet.

Planning on getting my own Saiga 12 ga. with the 19 inch barrel. My local dealer says all of his five sources are out of stock. Any ideas where I can find one? I will obviously be checking out all of the advertisers. My speeling sucks. One Saiga 12 ga/19 inch is available in SW OR for $750 new.

Is that too much? Dunno for sure, think it may be. Anyway, I am just happy to be here. Thanks. :) :) :)

  8. First post here. Hi everyone. 12 ga. Same reasons. All things considered, bigger is better. Wished Saiga made a 10 ga. version. Yep. Zombies and angry Polseen. (Polseen are big alien space invaders...very big....very tough....very mean....they eat people) :) :) :)
