  1. Nice H bar target upper with the A2 style sights for men who know how to shoot with irons!

Dont fuck with it. Leave it alone. It's a target upper.

Threading this one would be very very gay.

I believe I will leave the muzzle unmolested. It has a different look than most 16 inch AR barrels and I do not wish to be accussed of being gay. So I need a lower receiver, lower parts kit, and a stock to complete the rifle? I think I'll also go with a fixed buttstock.

  2. That makes sense. I'll go with a Bushmaster lower. Not that some are better or worse but perhaps the carpets should match the drapes. I owned a DPMS AR years ago. I shot (1) 30 round magazine through it and placed it back in my safe. It sat there for years. Then, when Obama got in and AR's were popping up everywhere I handled a Rock River at my local gun shop. I liked the trigger on the Rock River better than the DPMS. I traded in my DPMS for the Rock River AR. Then, a couple of days later, I purchased another Rock River AR exactly like it at the same gun shop due to the fear AR's were to be banned. I have never fired either of the Rock River Ar's. One is still in my closet in the plastic carry case in the original wrapper. I just don't like how AR's are set up. I much prefer Kalashnikovs. You have to punch yourself in the nose to chamber a round in a AR while prone. I have eight Kalashnikovs and they are fun. Four converted Saiga's. I don't like the idea of direct impingement and all the fouling it causes. Thanks for all the help and advice with this Bushmaster upper. If someone has a Saiga to trade I will deal.

  3. My family has been in the car business for the last 65 years. I remember when people thought 100,000 was near the end of the service life of a automobile. Vehicles running well after 200,000 to 300,000 miles are routine now. We see some with 500,000 + but they are usually not worth re-selling to the public so we just scrap them. I don't want to sell someone a car that will probably eat them up in repair bills. There are some motors today that have bad reputations....2.7 chrysler/dodge.....6.0 Ford diesel.....3.5 chevy and others. However, across the board, most motors, properly cared for will last long after the car is ready for the junkyard. Even some of the problematic motors I mentioned above can still last a long time absent abuse and proper maintenance.

  4. Thanks for the replys. I went ahead and purchased the upper for $250. I haggled. It includes the bolt and charging handle. I just thought it strange a 16 inch barrel wasn't threaded. I don't ever remember seeing one that short absent threads. I admit I do not know much about AR's. I was told it's 4150 steel and chromed lined.....if that makes a difference. Again, thanks.

  5. I have a chance to purchase a AR-15 Bushmaster carbine upper with the fixed carry handle. It is chambered in 5.56 Nato. There is no threading on the barrel for any muzzle device. The gentleman selling the upper claims to be a retired Illinois State Trooper. The upper is in almost new condition. He says he received it from the State of Illinois upon retirement. The price is $300.00. I don't visit AR forums often due to all the rudeness. I just got tired of fighting with folks all the time. Can anyone give me any advice on this upper. What's it worth? Why no barrel threading? I'm not a big AR fan (love Kalashnikovs).

  6. I know it's too early to know what type of weapons were used but that doesn't stop the news media from peddling tripe. First I heard AK 47 rifles were used. Then it was AK 47 "type" rifles. The LA Times is now saying there was at least one AK 47 type rifle. Those liberal news media idiots have wet dreams just hoping a crime is committed with anything which will allow them to spout "AK 47" even if it isn't one. I haven't seen any video and have no idea what type weapons was used. It's also going to be interesting just who shot the hostages. That vehicle the robbers used looked like swiss cheese.

  7. Allright...lets stop all this bullshit. Who here as actually been there and done this? Fought against individuals for their life...hand to hand. Talk is cheap. Keyboard commandos are not allowed. Be honest. If you have not actually been involved in a real fight for your life against a mentally ill person then please don't respond... how can you honestly say you know what it is like to fight for your life and act like you know what you are talking about. You want to get mad at me then get mad at me....but you have to look at yourself in the mirror and answer why you would question me. God knows I have stood there and looked at myself in a mirror trying to figure why people I never knew, or knew nothing about me, harmed me. There is nothing special about me. I took a job and that is that. I knew the risks. The number of times I have went up against individuals with mental problems has left me with convinced they are the most dangerous people I have ever faced. Why in the hell both pro-gun and anti-gun proponents cannot understand this is simply beyond me. I've talked so much since the tragedy in Connecticut I'm almost ready to pass out. At least this time there seems to be a greater interest in managing the relationship between mental illness and limiting their oppourtunities to do their fellow man (or children) harm. Gun control has never worked and it never will. A definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Other countries have tried to do the same thing with not only guns but other weapons with the same failed results. The common denominator has almost always proved to be individuals with serious mental illness prone to violence. I'm not an unfeeling monster. I have two children in public school and pray nothing like what happened in Connecticut ever happens in my home town. But I also hate having to explain why I enjoy owning and shooting my firearms to my friends and family who do not share my interest. And all of this because they keep refusing to blame the perverted thinking of a mentally ill person and choose to blame an inanimate object. Maybe I should just climb down off of my soapbox...maybe I'm just wasting my thoughts.

  8. You're right about that csspecs. It's hard to educate idiots. And now that emotions are running so high about this tragedy the anti-gun crowd is more loathe than ever to listen to common sense. I've also read comments from pro-gun individuals who seem to be scared to death over this....their coments lead me to believe they lack the backbone to stand up for themselves. They just want to bury their head in the sand and hope it all goes away.

  9. I know I'm beating a dead horse here but between 2010 until today China has suffered 9-10 different violent school attacks. The dead total 22 with 112 more injured. Most of the victims are children. The weapons include knives, hatchets, cleavers and box cutters. This is just in China and all took place in less than 3 years. Not a single firearm was used in any of these violent school attacks in China. Gun laws simply will not stop violent crimes. I wish Fox News would pick up on these type stories....MSNBC damn sure won't.

  10. post-27774-0-30210000-1355548087.jpg

    Worth repeating.

Great picture. This seems to be a common theme in many of the shootings. Firearms just happen to be unpopular with the domestic anti-gun crowd while the medications are accepted. It's not difficult to guess where the anti-gun crowd's probable attack will be coming from. And the notion people are just going to bury their heads in the sand and not talk about this school shooting is silly. News is news and society has a long history of discussing tragedies no matter how brutal. If the pro-gun crowd does not get involved then we would have only ourselves to blame for any erosion of our gun rights. The picture of the school teacher in Israel carrying a gun hasn't stopped violence either. It's a good start and I agree with it 100%, as long as the teachers are stable and not all doped up on head medicine. With teachers unions, the ACLU, and medical disclosure laws that medical information may not be available as well. Also, over in Israel the crazies have simply adapted. They plant bombs or wear the damn things and walk into a crowd. At least that form of murder hasn't became popular in america... yet! Many of the shooting spree killers are suicidal anyway so whats the difference between a bomb or a gunshot? I doubt the anti-gun crowd would likely take into consideration the extreme gun control laws which are not working in Israel when determined individuals decide people have to die. The picture above makes a lot of sense and effective enforcement of that idea is a good place to start in my humble opinion. A former poster on this thread recommended if a mentaly ill individual is living in a dwelling where firearms are kept they should be under lock and key. While not a 100% solution I have to agree. Even though no person in my household takes these kinds of medications I still have all of my firearms and ammunition separated and under lock and key....except for (1) personal defense weapon I keep loaded and hidden. I hope the NRA does it's best to get out in front of this incident. The media is sure pushing the idea of resurrecting the assault rifle ban.

  11. HOG76....I'm not about more laws. Just effectively enforcing the ones we have. I'm pissed about this also. And I'm trying hard not to be knee-jerk about it. I honestly feel there is a anti-gun storm coming and the pictures of those 20 kids will be used to shove more ineffective gun laws down our throats over the actions of one crazy fudge stick. I admit I haven't a clue how to ever stop this sort of thing...I was just throwing an idea out there. Due to the age of the victims i think this is the worse mass domestic gun crime I have ever seen. I guess the simple answer is if we are to enjoy the 2nd amendment these sort of things are always going to happen...I wish it wasn't true.

  12. Yes HOG76. There is a law for that. Worked out real well didn't it? The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. I'm willing to listen to any intelligent suggestion you may have on how to curb the murder of 20 children. Name calling doesn't count and it doesn't take a genius to know it isn't spelled "genious".

  13. What I am really trying to say Spartacus is we need more people control. Specifically those who suffer from a mental illness or are just plain violent....even though those two usually go hand in hand. I don't have all the answers but perhaps a cross reference between firearm ownership and mental health records. I'm sure many will disagree with me on that one. I love my guns and wish every responsible citizen can own and enjoy theirs. But I love my children also...I have to admit the thought of all of these little kids getting shot really bothers me. From what I understand all of the firearms used in the Portland and Connecticut murders were stolen.

  14. The thought of some sick fuck pointing a gun at a child turns me inside out. The absolute horror those parents must be going through is unimaginable to me. I keep picturing my kids in that school trying to hide from that monster. To me the guns laws have to be strengthened and enforced in the area of keeping firearms out of the hands of those who are mentally ill or have proved themselves unworthy or firearm possession due to past violent criminal behavior. My experience as a police officer always seemed to center around these two types of individuals when violents acts were committed with firearms. Good honest folks will have to pay yet again for nutjobs and dirtbag criminals.

This may get many members on this forum down on me but facts are facts. There are many individuals currently in law enforcement at all levels who are currently on depression meds. When a prospective officer applies for a job they are asked if they take meds or have ever suffered from depression. Some lie. Some don't develop depression/bipolar/anxiety conditions until after they are hired. Some agencies may have stricter rules than others but I personally know officers who wear a gun and take prozac, zoloft, paxil,...ect. None of the law enforcement agencies I know of require a police officer to disclose his medical information to them after they are initially hired. Most would not anyway. With many of the medical disclosure laws enacted today it may even be next impossible for law enforcement agencies to obtain the records. A large percentage of returning soldiers suffer from these problems and some find their way into law enforcement jobs. I'm not saying they will all go crazy and shoot up a school but just because a individual wears a unifrom does not mean they are not on meds for depression, anxiety, or other symptoms. Suicides rates for police officers are generally considered the highest of any other profession. The military is ranked fairly high also. I am a past police officer and I hate to say it but police officers who take medication for these type of symptoms should not be on duty...but many are. Mental illness and guns simply do not mix well.

  15. I live in Vincennes Indiana where the population is approximately 18,000 people. Only 4% of our indigenous population is black. Racial tensions in my hometown are next to nonexistent. But I have seen how quickly an out of control racist mob can flare up. Back around 2006-2007 I was staying at the Marriott in Covington Kentucky which sits on the Ohio river. Right across the river is the Cincinnati football and baseball stadiums. After supper one night I walked across the walkway toward one of the stadiums as a game was getting ready to start. There is also a riverfront park near the stadium and the Cincinnati black community had some sort of festival going on. Soon after I noticed a large police presence and many of the african americans were being very belligerent to the leo's and citizens alike. I simply walked back the way I had come and was accosted by a large group of young blacks wearing bright red satin jackets. Several other white citizens were being harassed as well. This group of young african americans sure took a lot of delight hurling profanity and racial slurs. The group numbered about 20-30 and I'll bet none were over 20 years of age. There were as many girls as there were guys. Being the redneck that I am I got into a verbal exchange with them. I was on the walkway heading back to Covington Kentucky....the group of blacks were in the parking garage below one of the stadiums. Between us was a large wire fence which kept them from attacking me for my not so kind comments to them. I should have just ignored them but I thought I would give them a taste of their own medicine. After exchanging several one finger waves and derogatory comments we parted ways. I walked back to my room at the Mariott and looked out across the Ohio river at the festival. Patrol cars were everywhere. About an hour later I watched a local news station reporting how the black festival turned into an angry mob complete with violence and vandalism. Cars were being turned over and similiar mischief. Law Enforcement had to close down the festival. I'm not sure what had sparked the violence but I certainly would not want to live in a city like that with so many street punks running around acting like animals. I'm pretty sure it was around 2006 or 2007....if anyone on here is from Cincinnati do you remember this incident and what sparked the riot?

  16. Thanks for the heads-up jeepranch. The list price for the 7.62x54r VEPR isn't too shabby. It appears the prices on the VEPR firearms have come down considerably since I last looked. IIRC the price for a AK54r is just about the same and I know first hand how damn nice the VEPR's are. I would much rather spend a few extra $$$ if I have to and go with the VEPR. But I do think I'll wait until they offer a shorter barrel length. 18 would suit me very nicely. I know I'll lose fps but hunting will not be it's primary use. Even though it is an oddball I still think the 9x53r would be neat to own. What state was that bigass hog killed in atakacorp?
