  1. He was not hit with any shells and I think will get one in any case. He has a left hand AR-15 and likes the left side ejection. I have seen a couple pictures/videos of left hand Saiga-12's and was just curious how rare and how hard it is to make.

  2. A friend told me he purchased an AK-47 a couple weeks ago. I saw it briefly last weekend. Black plastic furniture. I did not pay much attention to what was written on the receiver but noticed the trigger was Tapco USA.

I'm assuming it was a Saiga 7.62 x 39 and not really an Ak, sound correct?

And also I was wondering why it came with a Tacpo USA trigger?

  3. I have been about half way thinking about getting a SBS. I have a Saiga 12 and Saiga .410. So I was thinking maybe get a 20 ga to make a SBS. Thoughts? Is one gauge better or worse?

Then the legal requirements. The CLEO in my county will not sign for a suppressor so I expect he will not sign for a SBS (just assuming). For a suppressor, you can still obtain the proper BATF tax stamp for transfering a suppressor to an existing living trust. Anyone know if a SBS could be obtained through the same route?

  4. Profiled bolt will allow mag loading with bolt closed.

    So:

    Drop mag (entended mag latch)

Fire chambered shell to clear the one you don't want (bolt hold open on last round would help)

Load new mag (no need to lock bolt open with modified bolt)

    Rack and fire.

The little rock & lock tap will help guide the mag. Or better yet, extended mag well.

Lots of room for improvement. Go get him.

  5. I have been using and been a distributor for Militec-1 for over a decade. I have it in every combustion engine I own and use it on my guns. A friend of mine called it snake oil. He was in the Army National Guard at the time. A few weeks later he said he was firing a machine gune (don't recall what it was) and said when they were new, they would get hot and lock up. It came with a little bottle of oil. Once the oil was applied, it never locked up again. So one day he turned the bottle over and noticed it said Militec-1. After that we was a believer.

But I guess no more in the gas system:)

  6. sometimes it FTE on the low brass value pack ammo. In the full open V plug setting, the 4 ports should be unrestricted. But my V plug extended in so much that it slightly covered the front port so it may not have been getting full gas. Good or bad, I opened up the large groove a little more to expose the front port. Will test later. Also getting the MD Arms booster puc. Just curious if anyone else had measured their plug and compared it to the distance to the ports in the gas block. Might be worth a couple checks from others.

  7. I checked dimensions of my V plug and gas block with a digital caliper. What I found was that on setting #3 in the proper position, the large groove in the plug slightly overlaps the front gas port by about 2 mm. Anyone else found this to be the case? My solution was to use a dremel to taper the large groove a little deeper so it does not overlap the port.

  8. When looking into the gas block, I see there is a partial hole on the top side (opposite from the gas ports) just under the front sight. Anyone know the reason for this? Almost looks like it for the sight to be screwed into. Not sure if it is threaded or what.

  9. Bad news. I have to hit the brakes on this idea for now. My wife lost her job today. We thought it might happen due to an aquisition of her former company. She was the financial/accounting manager and the new company will handle all the accounting in their home office in Knoxville, TN. So, she's looking for a new job in the Charlotte, NC or Rock Hill, SC area. I know I'm bias, but a company could not find a more dedicated and honester employee than her.

  10. Thanks, all feedback is giving me food for thought. Gun show coming up in 2 weeks. I think I like the idea of a larger cal gun since I don't have one. The Saiga .308 is priced good (I guess around $450.00) but then by the time I convert it and dress it up, I've got at least $800.00 in it. I can get a DPMS custom built in .308 for around $1,000 which is also a good deal I think. And either of these deserves decent optics so I'll have to research that a bit also.

  11. I don't have a AR rifle so I was thinking an AR-15, .223 cal. would be nice. But then I do have a .223 ca. Mini-14 tactical. So I thought manybe an AR in another cal....22L or .308. .22L = cheap ammo vs. .308 but not as much excitment from plinking .22's. Then I thought, if .308, maybe a Saiga .308. Of course this is a Saiga sight, but whar are some recommendations and why?

Maybe I should just invest in gold at $1,411/oz.

  12. I read that Mike was going to help out the people that purchased the MD-20 withing the last 30 days. This comment was great and I was impressed with his effort to help smooth through this dramitic price transition. I then found out from CSS that this did not apply to the customers that did not purchase from MD Arms directly. I just thought that put CSS in a bad position. I talked to Greg at CSS and he offered to provide $100 of store credit or I could return the drum and get a full refund (at his loss). I thought that this was an example of GREAT customer service. He did not have to do anything but he did. Everyone is correct, people purchase items at "fair market value" and have no guarentees that the price will not suddenly change. Several retailers have adopted a 30 day price match guarantee to help customers make decisions in time of price fluctuations. It is just good customer service that make loyal customers. Thanks again to Greg at CSS who helped me and made a very loyal customer.

I also thought it was a really stand-up decision to "offer something for those that purchased a MD-20 in the past 30 days". So happens I purchased my 28 day priot to the announcement. I also puchased from Greg at CSS. Greg has alwaoys been helpful and fast on delivery. I don't want to see Greg have to take a loss because of this.
