  1. A barrel sleeve might be the least expensive solution for the short barrrels. A 3 inch piece of steel pipe could be welded on the outside of the barrel. Maybe someone knows what size pipe would work well.
  2. Level 3 plate inserts will stop : 7.62 mm NATO USM.BALL M80 150 grains projectile @ 2750 ft/sec 5.56 mm NATO USM.BALL M855 62 grains projectile @ 3050 ft/sec 5.56 mm NATO USM.BALL M193 55 grains projectile @ 3250 ft/sec and/or lesser threats. If they have that kind of armor, shooting a home invaders chest with a 7.62x39 or any of the above is not very effective. Head shots with buck shot and slugs might be.
  3. Helmet with level 2 face shield. $499.00 http://www.interamer.net/index.asp?PageAct...PROD&ProdID=186 A slug would crash through the visor. Heres what a slug will do to Polycast ( cast acrylic sheet ). It is 1 1/4 inches thick http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot6.htm Heres wha a slug will do to Level IIIA Armor Major trauma behind the unpunctured material. http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot16.htm
  4. I would think that even good head gear (armor) cant stop buck shot at 1300 fps. Anyone know otherwise?
  5. How much body armor are they wearing (level)? Did you say as much as a regular cop (lite armor)? Where is this occuring most often : Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, California, New York?
  6. I wonder what a tracer round would do to a human torso. HMMMMMM pretty interesting. Might cause alot of extra trauma. Might fry alot of tissue. BVAMP thats a great idea.
  7. I guess none really do exist for the ak then. Ive seen ones made for the sks by Williams Sites, but there must not be any for the AK type sites. Unless of course, the sks post fits into the ak front site drum.
  8. It wont be a SBS if a comp is welded on and makes the barrel legal length. Once your back up to legal length, you cant have a flash hider on there unless its 922 compliant by reducing enough parts.
  9. Ok im missing something here. I thought the S-12 is the shotgun with the issue. Unless of course he purchased an EAA one.
  10. Hoop, Have you checked your actual barrel length from bolt face closed to end of barrel? Which distributor sent it to your dealer?
  11. Flash hiders are definitely a 922 violation because they are a non-importable feature. Muzzle comps from everything ive ever read on 10 different gun websites would seem to me that have never been an issue on imported guns unless of course the ATF has ruled that certain compensators are also flash hiders. But I may be wrong because Ive never seen the official ATF list of all restricted features. Since the now sunsetted assult weapon ban had some guildlines, even with the AWB muzzle comps were legal between 1994-2004. But either way imports may still be restricted from muzzle comps.
  12. When I finally get ahold of a Saiga12, if its a non-rib ill probably get the Hiviz mentioned bead, or if it is a ribbed model ill probably get the green pyramid Tri-Viz Deer & Turkey Sight. Its too bad that you have to cut your rail to make them fit. Im working on trying to get fiber optic sites for some sks rifles, my saiga 16 inch 7.62x39, my vepr 7.62x39, and a MAK90. The Williams firesite made for the sks will work fine, but ive been trying to find out if the same firesite bead for the sks will work on the MAK90, saiga, and vepr. Seems like it would.
  13. The owner of Gunsmoke also had the nerve to say " And even if Im right about his need to check his barrrels, what the hell would he do for all of the ones hes already sold". Soo he doesnt care about his customers. Its all about the $ to him.
  14. A woman answered and said she had spoken to FBMG (PvtPyle) She said many of the ones she had checked were 19 inch so theres a good chance not all of them are screw ups. She mentioned even calling Russia today to check on their end, but they denied any mistakes as far as length. She mentioned she will know more on Monday after 12noon and that welding a muzzle device may be an option for those that have a 17.2inch barrel.
  15. Called him because i had ordered a Saiga 12 from him. Told him that he needed to check his Saiga 12s to make sure he doesnt sell off any that are less than 18 inches. The dickhead says the literature says they are 19 inches and that this is all a liberal scheme to stop sales. I said please dont take my word for it measure a few. He refused and said he knows best. Told the dickhead, his order to me is going back and his arrogance will be mentioned on the internet. What an asshole. By the way, the owner of gunsmoke argued that 16inch shotgun barrels are legal installed. It hard to believ
  16. If the ATF confiscates all these Saiga-12's like they did the MAK-90s with the 3rd receiver holes (early 1990s), RAA is going to pass the loss to IZMASH, and some conrad that messed up is likely to lose a body part if hes lucky. "NFA law is about to cause blood shed in Russia." That would be a great Fox News headline. I cant see why anyone in the 1930's figured short-barreled long guns were more menacing as a conceilable weapon than handguns. If the ATF confiscates all these Saiga-12's like they did the MAK-90s with the 3rd receiver holes (early 1990s), RAA is going to pass th
  17. What are the chances the new 16inch saiga rifles are not really 16 inches either?
  18. Has anyone else measured theirs from the bolt face closed to the opening of the barrel?
  19. Try the HiViz Spark II for replacing just the front sight. http://www.mpcsports.com/index.asp?PageAct...ROD&ProdID=1871 It has the metric threaded stud that is the same as the original and it really works well for only $7.95. RonSwin Will it work on either the beads from the railed or non-railed versions?
  20. Has anyone successfully adapted some kind of fiber optic bead site to the Saiga12?
