[replacing the recoil springd]

I am wanting to replace both springs on the recoil assembly. I have found 2007 articles on using 17 to 22 lb 1911 springs and have used some of them myself over the years. I don't remember the lb strength.

Are both of these springs the same strength or are they different? I see CSS has the Tromix spring for $7.99 can I order 2 and just replace both I have and continue shooting?

I have 3 years of shooting on the current spring and have never replaced the rear spring since 07.

any input will be appreciated.

when I go out shooting i mix all sorts of loads and lengths of ammo so do not want a specific heavy duty for only 3" type of spring... I want an all around shoot anything spring like factory.

[WTK about hand crank flashlights]

I am looking at lights/lanterns for my building were i shoot. I was looking into the hand crank type of lanterns or flashlights. I do not want anything that has to have a power source ie batteries or fuel or mantels, too much upkeep. I use this place for my shooting and when I get out there usually before dawn or stay after dark I would like some lights.

Does anyone have the crank type of lantern? Is there enough light for basic illumination for a 24x36 shed?

I stopped by a gander mtn today and looked at their lights and did not see anything of this type...have yet to hit wally world or K marts.

I am cheap and figure this will either get shot or broke/stolen before too long.

I purchased 1 from Cadiz made by NSTAR I think. was made for the S12. threads stripped out first time out and would not lock on the S12 properly. No one would take it back so I purchased a NEF single shot .12 and TIG welded it permanently on and have had a load of fun since. Single shot is simplier than the semi auto load and then ammo in the chamber any day and I get 600 to 800 yards every launch. I never have followed the ball until it lands ...gets lost it goes so far and make sure of the spot weld inside the chamber for backspin. I will take it out several times a year and have fun with it.

I have yet to change out the factory stock and it does have an SGM recoil pad on it.

I have just got back from shooting my S-12 after being converted using CSS parts and an

ATI Scorpion PG. worked perfectly....but......... the recoil is so much more then the preconversion recoil.

I have had the gun since 07 and have gone thru over 5k rounds of everything and never had to quit because of sore trigger finger and arm.

I have several Saiga rifles I have converted without problems or discomfort.

I shot 150 rounds of asst lo, hi and magnums as I always do except the totals usually go more to the 250 to 300 rds

Is this just the difference in the shooting grips, meaning how the gun is held because of using a PG vs a standard stock?

I will go out later and do more shooting to see if this occurs again but this was not a fun experience after the conversion!!

I ordered 3 of them and had to file 75% of the lip off just to get to fit properly. I contacted the company and asked for a refund on the 2 I had not modified and never heard from them again. With so much of the feed lip gone I did not want to modify the other 2. My S-12 was an 07 RAA version.

The 1 mag functions but with so much of the lock gone I feel it will not last long.

^{I just received my mags from them too and the filing seems to be about half of the catch. there is the width of a 4th stripe before the mag will seat in the gun. I have fitted lots of AK mags in both of my x39 conversions and with minor smoothing and filing they fit but these are huge amounts of mag catch to get to fit.}
