  1. He milled the HG from billet.Last I talked to him, he was offering to let me carry his custom parts in my business section here. If there is any interest in any of these parts then let me know and I'll get in touch with him.

I wouldnt mind getting one of those stock adapters. I really hate the plastic ones.

I'd take one like his, rough edges and in the white. I could finish all the detail work myself.

  2. Hey folks.

Just got my Saiga 12 folder in today, and was shocked to see how loose and cheesy the ACE folding mechanism was. This evening, I was showing off my new toy during a small family bbq, and my son, not knowing anything about the folding stock, tried to fold out the stock without pushing the POS button, (little guy, little effort. YOU KNOW) and it broke in two places. I could see anyone easily busting this terribly made product.

I will send this crap back to ACE demanding a refund.

    ACE SUCKS ASS! :killer:

What a hasty conclusion. Did you ever think to call them and see if you got a bad part?

I have had nothing but extraordinary service from them.

  3. It really depends on the size of your hands. I personally like the old style (hard) Ergo grip from Falcon, but I have big meat hooks. The traditional AK grip just doesn't work for me.

I like those too. They don't make them anymore.

I like them because you can reshape them into a perfect grip.

  4. Megas are the best. All of my ARs are Mega lowers and uppers.

ETA: Heres a color fill for what will be an 11.5 inch SBR when I am done

    Looks good!

I was thinking about picking up a Mega stripped upper at the same time as my lower............but I'm not up to the task of assembling an upper. Don't have the right tools or knowledge for that  .

I see you you're rocking the MIAD with the winter trigger guard/front strap as well. It fits my hand like a glove.

I had my eyes on an 11.5" complete upper. It was in stock and priced right. I should have bought it and just kept it at a friend's/relative's house who doesn't own any guns (so no "constructive intent" problems would arise) and then just had it mailed to me down in SC when I got the stamp. But of course, it sold out before I made the decision  . (Simply owning a short-barreled upper is legit, as long as you don't attach it before you get the stamp. Or you could be making it into a pistol, for all anyone knows.)

I've read that you can indicate multiple caliber when applying for a stamp, so I want to get a 5.56 upper and a 9mm upper for use on the 1 lower.

Upper assembly is so damn easy that you will not believe you ever thought it was hard.

All you need are the right tools. A vice block and a good bench vice, a barrel wrench, some roll pin punches, some moly grease, and a reasonable torque wrench will do.

That MIAD is just there to protect the trigger guard ears. I am actually going to put a Tango Down Battle grip on it. I had one on my 16" carbine, but I switched it out for a MIAD. I have missed it ever since. I am going to slice the trigger guard off to use without the grip, and tap holes in it so I can use screws instead of pins.

I'm also gonna tap the takedown pin detent hole so I dont have the detent and spring falling out if I take the receiver plate off.

BTW, This is the receiver plate I'm using:

  5. The .308 is not a good caliber for full auto simply because of the uncontrollability of the gun when fired. I saw on American Rifleman where they noted that back in the 80's in the Falklands, the Brits had FN FAL semi-auto while the Brazilians had the same in full-auto. In the end the Brits where more effective because they were able to hit what they were shooting at.

I think this is the reason behind the science for the smaller bullets used in full-auto such as the .223 or the 7.62x39 which is a cut down version of a .308 or 30-06.

Not true. The M60 is actually pretty controllable from what I've seen.

    A good brake would help.

  6. Got mine yesterday, problem though. Seems like the knurling raised the diameter of the knob just a bit. It's so tight that you can not turn it by hand. When you hold it up to the light you can see that just the center of the knob is barely touching the barrel. Anybody else have this problem? I was just going to put it on the lathe and take the knurling off and just put a little knob or lever on it like bob ash did.

Some Saigas will have this problem.

  7. let me edit part of what you just said -

Unfortunately, it is shown with a drum in it.

Is the gun named by name, by the way, or for what it is? (12 gauge AKM)

I guess I need to start saving for a few more 12 gauges...

I thought the same thing at first.

  8. I am repeating what I read from the OWNER of the company, and he also PM'ed me stating that he had some S12 mags to evaluate for the project.

In regard to me mentioning anything else in regard to them in comparison to other mags...... I didn't.

    WTF is your problem?

None of this is a problem for me. Just because you are mad, does not mean I am! :lolol:

I have little doubt that you are telling the truth about the source of information, and I do not blame you for bringing it here, after all that it what we are here for!

I simply said that you are not a rep of the company (?), only an interested consumer who read something, and at this point we are talking about speculation from an unproven player vs. reality. I was responding to the entire thread, not just you.

What part of that made you angry, or is untrue?

Nah, it just seemed that you had me mistaken for the guy who started the other thread.

I've been here long enough to know that a product does not exist until its on the market. I just wanted people to know that they may be "possible" in the future.

I didn't see that other thread.
