  1. A few reasons why the factory 8 rounders are so expensive and sought after. Up until now, they were pretty much impossible to get here in our free republic. The factory magazines are the most reliable. There is a cool factor with them that just can't be beat.

    Just my :2c:

The factory 8rd mags are the best mags for the gun.

    Period.

Nothing fits and functions as well as them, and nothing looks more natural in the gun.

I have 5 of them, but I got them when they cost a "reasonable" 60 bucks each.

  2. This is a psychological response from the ATF to discourage you from ever emailing them again.

Do not let it discourage you. All emails sent to the ATF are subject to FOIA requests if you ever want to see the real public response to anything they try to do.

This was a ploy to enable them to limit response to later rulings that people object to, which will allow them to say that they received limited negative response to any shit they pull.

Once again, do not let this ploy keep you from expressing dissent at shit they try to deprive us of our rights.

  3. I feel bad for the people who paid almost a grand for a bone stock S-12. This is good news since I wanted another saiga 12 but couldnt pay those prices.

I LMMFAO at those that paid the inflated prices :lolol:

Patience and timing is the key. When they hit $500 again, I'll buy a couple more.

Until then.... I can get by with what I have.

I didn't buy one, but the odds were against the S12.

The ATF is always pulling something, and couldn't care less about us.

People were taking a gamble, but in the end they were playing the odds.

  4. Hmmm, it would be interesting to handle it. It looks to sit roughly as high as my Magpul stock with a cheek riser I added to allow a proper cheek weld with the use of an optic (but pictures can be deceiving). For me that is too high to use the irons in a normal way.

    It handles well for me.

It is a really fun gun to shoot. The stock and sights encourage you to really get behind the gun correctly.

  5. Its aluminum and it puts the stock up high, in line with the bore on both the S308 and S12.

I don't have the best eyes but it looks like it is above the bore. Also, as noted it seems that if it is sitting notably higher than a normal stock then using the irons would be problematic. A Vltor or CAA tube puts the stock in line with the bore. Unless you want a folder they (speaking only of the metal CAA adapter as I haven't handled the plastic one) are good options.

    Even better.

And no. I don't have problems with the iron sights.

  6. I have the best stock adapter ever made for saigas.

I got it from a forum business member, but he doesn't offer them for commercial sale.

What adapter is that? Figures, I just dropped coin on an ACE.

  8. Looking at the newer invoice numbers I'm suprised not too many of these have been spoken for yet.

Once they're here I'll consider buying one.

If they've only presold less than 100 so far, I doubt all will be sold by the time they're imported.

My main issue is the fact that it can only take the stick mags, and OEM 8 round capacity is good for tactics, but just for plinking I like more rounds at my disposal.

I also wonder how this self regulating gas system will react to a shorter barrel. It's a whole can of worms really.

It's just a matter of time till these problems are resolved. I'm sure the drums on the market can be modified by someone talented. I'm going to try to do one myself. And if you want to cut down the barrel, it'll most likely need the ports opened up because of pressure loss. I don't know on that one for sure. I'll never cut the barrel down on mine.

    Thats just a picture.

By that I mean that someone just shoved that into the magwell for a pic.

    Lame.

  9. Last I checked MD was ok with 20 round magazines provided you complied with some sort of local law.. So I don't have MD listed as a "no ship" for the 20s.. Just like most stores that sell magazines online.

20 rd mags are legal. State preempts local, so no local laws can affect it.

IIRC, you used to list that people should consider the 20 rd mags to be 22 rd capacity for legal purposes.

    Has that changed?

  10. i dont care what they look like if they work do you sell them as a parts kit

Yes, but we also sell a ten round magazine if your in CA or other ban states.

To order as a rebuild kit you type "make rebuild kit" or "yes" in the box that asks "make rebuild kit?".

I only sell Rebuilds to CA, from what I can find other ban states have not clearly stated that rebuild kits are legal.

    20 round

    10 round

    They are legal in MD.

  11. HA nah that does not bother me.. I never made them to be stylish, functional was the primary goal.. Now that we seem to have that part figured out I'm working on how to make them look less like commie farm equipment.

I'd like to have a product that looked good.

We did stamped for the S-20 prototypes, they have steps in the sides much like an AK magazine. That more what your looking for or something else?

    th_IMG_2849.jpg

That looks perfect for the 20.

If you made 308 mags like that I would give you lots of money.

  12. That sucks.

I really like the way they look.

Sounds stupid, but I like a good-looking, functional mag.

Ok I've been wanting to ask since you posted..

What would look good in metal in your opinion? Some side ribs to break up the flats? Less seams ect.

Or is it the look of a poly waffle mag your going for.

EDIT: To the OP, could you describe the problem that your having? I know my way around the s.308 pretty well so maybe I can point you in the right direction.

Your mags actually look pretty good.

I modded a curved CETME 20 round mag to fit in my saiga, but I couldn't make it feed or be reliable.

It involved cutting a seam down the front of the mag, doing som bending along one of the vertical ribs, then welding it back along with front and rear catch.

It looked so good, but it didn't work. I like curved and ribbed mags for the "AK look". If someone made a 20 or 25 round polymer that was exactly like the factory 8 rd mag I would probably be brought to tears.

I chucked it, but I have several curved 20rd CETME mags and I want to try again before I attempt it on my 25rd curved CETME mag..

I think I could use one of the u308 mag followers or a magpul LR20 follower.

  13. The gas system is completely different so that FSB /GB combo from K Var won't work with a regular adjustable gas system on an S-12.

I spoke with K Var the other day on the phone about these parts though, and they are supposed to be getting the rest of the parts that do work with it, in a couple of weeks. You'll need a new gas piston, a different puck, and gas tube.

The SGM magwell looks the most like the Russian one.

If thats true it is very good news.

The bad news is that it will probably cost about 300 bucks all together.

  14. General Discussion - Any topic is welcome here!!!

I really have no use for it but I bought it anyway. I may even end up selling it. Who knows, someone may want to add this importer to their collection.

So you purchased it for resale?

Got your FFL then I guess?

I must have missed that big announcement.

    1) none of your business

    2) he didn't say he bought it to resell

    3) he said MAY end up selling it

    4) none of your damn business...

    5) You don't need an FFL to sell a gun

    6) None of your damn business
