  1. So, who thinks there will be a push to ban "assault" weapons again?

Think current weapons will be grandfathered in?

Maybe certain features will be banned, like folding stocks, pistol grips, etc

Think the large hi cap mags will be banned?

They are passing so many laws, that no one will be able to live without breaking a law. This is what the Nazi's did.

Then they just pick and choose who they want to go after. It's time for every american gun owner to practice

civil disobedience. We either hang together, or we hang seperately.

  2. The folder did come off a hacked receiver stub. So had to de-rivet the stock trunnion and the trunnion that came with the folder. Not too fun.

Yeah used a cheap hacked up c-clamp, same one I used for my iz-132.

I was going to buy a latch but even a 2nd hand one was $70. Took a few days but I already had the aluminum so cost will close to nil :)

The square hole & pin hole are the same size & dimensions as stock. Just made the latch go far enough back so you dont have to hack the stock to fit. I followed a lot of sKott's conversion and saw that was one of the problems.

    edit:

what solvent do people use to get the lead out of the barrel? After putting some sluggers through there was a decent amount of build up. After a few hours of cleaning there is still some left. I dont have any solvents though so just a brass brush and some rags. Has to be an easier way... Any suggestions?

The electric drill that Cobra suggest's work's well. But if you don't want to do that, get a tornado brush (google it) it work's great with your favorite solvent/cleaner or whatever. Great job!!

  3. OK...I've had my Saiga for a few months, and have put a few hundred rounds through it. I'm not a novice gun owner, and feel fairly proficient with the nomenclature of the sporting Saiga itself.

So what's the logical next step? Conversion! :killer:

I read and re-read all the conversion threads, and bought my conversion supplies from CSS. I came up with a game plan, printed out all the saiga conversion sites and threads that I could find, and know what I have to do. I don't expect any problems if I do it step by step, and I have some people in the area that can help me if I run into problems.

The problem is, I can't visualize how the conversion actually works. How can I move the FCG/trigger assembly up an inch on the receiver, and still have it strike the firing pin without any other modifications inside? It just isn't clicking in my little brain. :sadam:

I'm sure this is a very rudimentary issue that would be fully cleared up after I do the conversion, but I hate tackling the project until I have an exact understanding of how everything is going to work. If anyone can explain it in exacting detail, or has a before-and-after diagram, I would really appreciate it!

Just do the conversion. I was like you a few months ago. Was not quite sure of myself or the conversion process. I kept watching the video's that show the conversion and then just went for it. Believe me, If I can do it anyone can. Cobra's right, the self satisfaction you get from doing it yourself can't be topped!! and you'll know your weapon inside and out.

If you can't find the video's here on this site, just google SAIGA PISTOL GRIP CONVERSION or go to youtube and type in the same. Good luck!! you can do it!!

  4. Where can we find recoil springs and or assemblies. I've been waiting for Tantel to get them in. In the meantime, I thought

I would ask the best source of info on Saiga 12's, ie ; all the Saiga dudes.

Oh yes, and factory or otherwise hammer springs. ( besides the 25% reduction spring)

  5. I need a complete bolt assembly for my S 12 for spare parts.

    Who sells them?

    Thanks.

You can email Doug at tantel@sbcglobal.net I've bought a couple of spares from him.

I tried that email and it comes back undeliverable, does anyone know where to get a complete bolt.

If I knew how hard parts were to get I would of thought twice about the saiga 12 or maybe not lol.

I tried the email once about a week ago and got a failure notice. Tried it one more time and it went thru.

  6. Ok so I'm doing a little bit of grocery shopping at wally world. I pick up a few things and make my way to the sporting goods section and ask for some ammo. I usually buy bulk packs of 00 buck that comes in a 15rd box but the counter person tells me alls they got is single 5rd boxes. So I'm like ok I'll take 8 boxes of 00buck and 2 boxes of slugs. He then informs me(in terrible english) that he can't sell me it. Of course this made me very angry since last I checked I do not live in soviet Russia and no retailer can refuse to sell me a product. I ask to speak to the manager since I could barely understand the counter person. He comes up and tells me they have a ammo rationing rule that has a limit of 6 boxes per customer. So is this guy serious or is it just in my local wally world? God this gots me so mad I'm never goin to shop at walmart ever again.

OK, so with all this talk about Walmart, I went to my nearest Wally here in CO north of Denver. Got some #00

and slugs and just to see if there was a limit, I took all 25 boxes on the shelf. No problem, laid down my money

    and took it home.

Now for the real story. I got to know someone at a K mart. K mart is doing away with all ammo. You won't believe

what I was paying for some shotgun shells. I got 36 five rnd boxes of #00 winchester super x for 50 cents a box.

That's no typo, 50 CENTS A BOX! I was getting 25 rnd boxes of birdshot for $4 a box!! This is all 12 guage.

Bought all I could until they sent what was left back. Some K marts still have ammo left but they don't put it out

on the floor. You have to ask. I made out like a bandit, shotgun shells at real wholesale prices.

  7. Its tantal@sbcglobal.net . I highly recommend buying from him, very good customer service. Bought my PKAS-V from him a while ago and he was very helpful in clearing up any difficulties and mix ups promptly.

Yeah, that's the email that worked for me before when I bought from Doug, but i got a failure notice this last

time. Guess I'll try it again.

  8. I am a newb to the Saiga 12 world (though not a newbie to the gun world 30+ years experience and 45+ pistols/rifles/shotguns in my collection). I have been lurking around this forum and wanting to add a Saiga 12 shotgun or 2 to my collection.

Last week I finally took the plunge into the deep end and bought a TAC 47 XXX Saiga 12 conversion NIB from a local seller in Virginia. Real nice shotgun impressive conversion with Tromix and Tapco parts. It even came with 3 brand new 10 round AGP mags. :dollar:

While playing around with it over the weekend a couple of newbie question came to mind an i thought maybe you guys can help a brother out.

    1. This shotgn is missing its bolt lock back lever/toggle. Why was this done? Is it because of the relocated trigger/trigger guard? Can I put one back in?

    2. How do you insert the fully loaded 10 round mags into the shotgun without the bolt being retracted? I monkeyed around with it for a while and gave up in frustration. I have seen it done on Youtube and i have read in this forum that it can be done. Please show me the technique or point me in the right direction.

    Thanks,

    Harry :smoke:

You can put a BHO in. Carolina Shooters Supply has the Tromix. If there is no slot for the lever you'll have to cut one.

What I did when my BHO was missing, I held the gun with the left hand on the handguard and put the butt of the stock

on the top of my right leg for support then pulled the charging handle back with the thumb of the right hand and used

the fingers of the right hand around the gun to steady it. Then grab a mag with the left hand and insert then let the

charging handle fly forward to put a round in the chamber and fire when ready. Pretty obvious that one doesn't want

to rely on this method for self defense. Get a BHO and put it in, or get the magwell.

  9. Ain't no pun to intend, cause ya misspelled "shooting".

Problem: when you push your safety lever up to "safe", it wants to ride up onto the bolt carrier, making taking it off "safe" more difficult, (mine and a few other late '08 production S-12's I've seen do this).

Solution: slightly bend the lip of your receiver cover that resides directly over the "top" of your safety lever inward so that the lever makes contact with this surface and stops before it jumps off the receiver and up onto the bolt carrier.

Hey thanks apocalyptic, that has been happening to mine!

  10. Any try and make one of these fit a 410? Unfortunately a can't shoot mine, but at least I could play dress up.

No don't have one yet, bought one from saiga-shotguns.com and I've been waiting for a month. Don't know

if you can mod it to fit a 410 or not.

  11. I have ordered everything to do my conversion and then some from Greg and I would just like to say, nothing but top notch! I'm one of those people that once I order something online I can't wait for it to come in the mail and it just irritates me when the company your ordering from just kinda "gets around to it." I'm sure some of you can relate when you even pay for faster shipping and still they end up sucking ass somehow. Well, I have to commend CSS for always shipping my parts out like clock work. Great communication, no lag, no delays, nothing but, great customer service! I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks.

Ditto, Greg is the best hands down!!

  12. I just got a new saiga 12 and I'm looking forward to unleashing it's full potential by converting it. Although I concider myself gun-savy, I'm no gunsmith and don't fell confortable tackling this project myself. I have seen several businesses on this forum advertising conversion services (CGW, Tromix, etc.) for verying prices and options. In yall's opinion, who does the best conversion on an S-12 and who offers the best value. :dollar:

    'preciate it yall. B)

Any of the advertisers can do the job. Will at Red Jacket is excellent as they all are. I did my own conversion after getting feedback

and prompting from all the guys on this forum. Believe me,If I can do it anyone can. I too had never grinded or cut on a firearm

before, but with the video's on youtube and help from the Saiga dudes on this forum I did it. Took it out and shot it for the first time

after the conversion and it kicks ass!!! Use the Tromix trigger guard and FCG. Also doing it yourself gives you an innate knowledge

of this shotgun and it becomes your baby cause you created it.GOOD LUCK!!

  13. OK..im new so I need some slack and I throw myself at the mercy of the SAIGA GURUS.

I am about to buy a SAIGA 12. I should have it in hand by next week. I want a AR style pistol grip stock like this:(click here to see)

And i would like to get a high cap mag, maybe even a drum.

because of this, i know I will have to change some of the parts on the gun to be 922r compliant. What are the easiest parts to change out. I am not overly mechanically inclined, so please keep that in mind.

Are there ready made kits available?

Welcome to the Saiga club. Keep reading and rereading all the threads on this site. You should go ahead and convert your

Saiga. I was like you. Intimidated to try to convert, was going to have someone do it for me at extra cost. But the great

people on this site told me to do it myself. Why pay more, why have someone else do it for you when you can have the satisfaction of doing it yourself and besides you really get to know the workings of these guns. That is what they told me.

Then Sopmod (thanks buddy, you were right!!) sent a link to a conversion video. I watched and decided to do it myself.

Now you want to talk about not mechanically inclined? If there was a definition of it in a dictionary my picture would be

there. I just did my conversion this past sunday and it works!! I did it!! If I can do it anyone can do it. The gun looks way more cool the tigger is way better!!and now it's out to the range to shoot it. All the guys were right, the satisfaction of doing it myself is great! I've never done any conversion on any gun before, and now I can say bring it on, I can can do it.

THANKS TO ALL THE SAIGA DUDES YOU ALL ROCK!! Take your new gun out and shoot it alot as it is out of the box. Make sure it works with all loads. Check for the number of gas ports and make sure they are clear. Go to youtube.com and type in Saiga conversion and watch. The guys on this forum will guide you thru conversion. DO IT!!

Oh, make sure you look at all the parts options before you buy. Get the the Tromix DIY tigger guard and FCG

    Good luck!!

  14. Does anyone who has the new magwell (the first run) have any feedback/reviews for all of us yet?

I've read most of the responses on the thread for the magwell, but was wondering if someone might have more.

All of you who have it, are you leaving the BHO in your gun. I'm assuming with the magwell that the BHO

is just there for whenever you might want to use it, right? As you might guess I'm still learning about these shotguns.

    But I love em already.

  15. Been giving some serious thought about upgrading my sights. General opinion here seems to be that the Krebs is the way to go, either that or Dinzag's short sight block to use with the existing rear sight. The issue? Cost. The Krebs is going for $89.95, Dinzag's is $95.

Now if I bite the bullet on a Kobra, Ebay has them going for $295 from East Wave Optics. I would consider a PK-ASV but no one seems to have them in stock. Guess I'm hesitant on the irons because I'm 1/3 of the way to a red dot cost wise.

I would be shooting about equal buckshot and slugs.

I would appreciate any constructive advice on which you would prefer and why... :)

Less things to go wrong with iron sights

  16. Hi, I also have a Mossberg 500 and dropped a 12 gauge laser boresight into the Saiga. Unlike the Mossy, which was spot on, the Saiga dot appears to be about 1" to 1.2" below where the sights would suggest. Has anyone else encountered this? I was wondering if all Saigas are like this and you just get used to it, or if this is one of the reason almost everyone in the forum seems to adopt HK sights or custom sights of some kind or another.

Mine is the same also. I plan on getting the Krebs sights as post-apocalyptic suggested.

  17. I just received my stock saiga s-12 19inch shotty. What comes first. Should I send the gun out for pistol grip and trigger group move along with other work? Or should I do it myself? I have been trolling this forum for a while and now I would like to contribute!!

About a month ago, I was just like you. Just got my S12 and ready to send it to someone to convert it for me.

I too put a post here asking for help as to a decision on who to send it to for the work. The great people on this

site told me the same thing that they are telling you. Well I checked the gas ports, had three unplugged. I've

taken it and shot it to make sure it works, and it works really good! no problems at all. Meantime, I've been

watching the conversion video's, 4 or 5 times at least and looking at the internals of the gun. I have all the parts

now for conversion. I did not think I could do the conversion when I first learned all this Saigs stuff, but now I

know I can and I'm not a real mechanically inclined person. With all the guy's on this site to help you thru, and

they will help you thru. You or I or anyone with half a brain (like me) can do the conversion. Just keep watching

the video's and learn how the Saiga internals work and how it is all put together and taken apart. Heed the advice

that has already been given to make the conversion easier.

  18. Send it, I got you covered.

jaymce, I don't have a problem...yet. But if I do, which business are you affiliated with here on the forum?

So I know who to connect with if I ever have a problem. Thanks
