  1. Yes, apparently this shotgun features and enclosed trigger pack so until we get good images of it, we don't know if it is easily replaced with a standard FCG.

In the photo below, it looks like it has the right axis pin holes, so maybe it would be an easy swap after all, I'm just not sure...

    Saiga for comparison...

Edit: Added S12 pic for comparison.

An interesting difference in the DDI model is the placement of the ejector block rear rivet. My current understanding from talking with DDI is that the gun is very much a Chinese clone of the IZ-109, with additional features  intended to improve the shooting experience for the end user.

Whereas the original Saiga ejector block rivets are parallel, the rear ejector block rivet on the DDI 12 seems to occupy roughly the same position as the third axis pin on a full auto AK receiver.

The presence of a third axis pin hole was recently behind a recall of IWI Galil Ace pistols. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/12/24/iwi-recalls-galil-ace-pistols-due-to-full-auto-design/

Given the placement of the receiver block rivets, I find myself wondering if the Chinese used an existing receiver pattern as the basis for this design rather than cloning the Saiga 12 receiver.

  2. You build a hell of a weapon Mike!

    Thanks Dave!

The Saiga 20 is an interesting and challenging platform to work with. The customer for whom I had previously built a high performance 12 gauge wanted a very high performance very low recoil build that his daughter would be comfortable shooting. So in addition to the extensive performance work that went into the build, it was very important to build a gun that a woman could regularly train with, and would be confident using for personal defense.

In the past, a key limitation for the 20 gauge platform had been the absence of reliable mags with a reasonable capacity. Hats off to CSS Specs for their excellent work in creating and perfecting a reliable high quality all steel Saiga 20 mag which works beautifully with this platform.

  3. This pricing seems more in line with the V12s current crippled platform  (angle cut rear receiver, frankenstein rear trunnion, and cheesy faux wire folder).  As a builder, I would love to see the guns imported in a configuration which is useful front to back, and does not discourage, and prevent useful modifications with regard the the stock.

Personally, even the $699 retail price for a gun which is effectively handicapped by the factory out of the box seems to be a premium.

I sincerely hope our friends at Arsenal will work with the factory to bring back the straight back receiver with a proper RPK rear trunnion.

While they're at it, Molot did a good job of cloning the Saiga Version30 with the Vepr 12. It would be nice to see a well built Russian Saiga IZ-109 type clone as well.

  4. Hey everyone, good to be here. This is my first post so with that I wanna say hello. I just bought a Saiga 12 and have looked all over at different forends. I hate quadrails and I hate rails that go along the top. I want to just keep it simple with an angled foregrip on it. Out of all the ones I have looked at online, this is the one I want. I believe these are no longer sold though due to the restrictions on Saiga importation. Does anyone know where I can get one? If I cant find one of these I will probably just leave the original grip on it. Thanks for any help given!

    Legion USA sells them.

  5. Hollywood basically churns out garbage, very little of which is worth the time required to view it.  Anymore an Oscar is simply a marker on the garbage pile that tells me what probably stinks slightly less than the stuff right next to it.

The least worse films tend to get awards. If you make films that don't rise to the level of least worse, you don't get a prize.

  6.

The reviewer "IV8888" happening by the booth seems to have a much better grasp of the gun than the guy who claims (in another video) to have designed the bullpup. The physics of the forward vertical grip are a bit curious, as the grip is only half supported by the forend, with the other half hanging off a rail at the front. Hopefully, by the time this becomes a production model, they'll have worked that out.

  7. Standard layout and bullpup semis coming soon from Standard Manufacturing.  Same guys who did the DP12 bullpup double barrel pump.  The DP12 is not interesting to me but I'll be keeping an eye on these new ones.

I kinda wondered about this guy's presentation, but the tactical pants convinced me.

  8. Saw it today. During the firefight scenes, I kept thinking of Susan Rice repeatedly lying to the American public, and Hillary Clinton meeting the families of the dead, and lying to their faces about why their loved ones died.

My wife and I left the theater torn between the pride we felt for our war fighters, and the disgust we felt for our spineless politicians.

  9. The Promag 12 round drum will only on an load open bolt. With all 12 rounds loaded, there is zero space for the shells to compress down into the mag. My experience with the 12 round drums has always been good.
