Also, I have a question about the factory 7.62 mags, if i have modified my mag release to accept surplus mags will the factory mags work? (i no longer have my factory mag to test, lol).

For testing, use a remote trigger (string) and the baddest assed round you can find! A light round will not "proof" anything. If a magnum slug or heavy turkey round does not deform the case, then I would feel safe shooting it!
