Currently my favorite rifle, while not exactly a lightweight it has been completely reliable through a couple thousand rounds.
I have a friend who wants one bad and that's all he talks about. What's the weight on it, reliability? Are mag changes comfortable and quick, while keeping the sights on target? Nice gun, bro.

I'd look into the Remington 700 r5 mil spec rifle, I've heard nothing but good things about it's accuracy out if the box.
R5.....excellent suggestion. This thread is for more than a gun though. I would like a well rounded thought on a long range platform. Thanks guys.

Yes, I love Savage! That is one of the three I quoted in my write-up. Do you have any thing else to contribute? This is a long range post. The gun is great but I need more...in detail. Thanks, bro!

Like most others here, I am on a limited budget. I want a good, accurate, long range .308 rifle for target and/or tact shooting, out to 1000m. This topic has been talked about and played out here, there and everywhere. I know, I know, I know. What is different; is what gun , barrel length, twist rate, ammo, scope, bipod and stock would you prefer, if you wanted a great package on a limited budget? I know a lot about this stuff but i'm more of a student than a scholar. I would really like to hear some opinions from Scholars rather than Students. Anybody?
If I'm leaving out any modifications ( like muzzle breaks/ stabilizers and detachable mags etc.) please chime in and elaborate i.e., scope magnification, ammo grain, bullet type, etc.
I'm getting bored of limited/short range shooting and want to extend my ability to the extreme effectiveness of the round.
I really desire becoming proficient at 1000m and any help with reading wind, temperature, elevation, holdover etc. would be great. My brain is a sponge, feed me! Thanks guy's.
Here's my thoughts so far:
Rem. 700 24" barrel or Savage 10. Also a M1A 22"
Leupold VX2 or ???
Harris bipod
Reloaded ammo done myself in 175gr or 168gr
bell and carlson stock.........
I plan to do this project with my tax return so I want to research now. I know this would easier if I told you how much I have to spend but even I don't know that yet. LOL.

Holder's protected. Wanna bet they'll find a patsy and make this go away?
No sir, I don't want to take that bet. LOL
I hope he gets his nuts nailed to the wall though.

I put a Clerke 20" bull barrel on mine about 3yrs ago and I've taken rabbits out past 250yrds. I love it and will keep it forever!

Happy birthday, bro! Glad to hear business is good too. We serve an amazing God.

What do you like about the Fenix TK11 that the TK15 doesn't have?
I only have experience with the TK11 and TK30, both are much better than I expected from an affordable flashlight. Lots of officers at work use Surefire or Streamlight flash lights and the Fenix is just as good, but brighter and cost a lot less. I would imagine the TK15 is just as good if not better than the 11.

Fenix TK11. I payed $65 for it on Ebay and it has a nice focused beam, super bright, durable and reliable.

I've racked my brain silly kicking around both calibers. There is so much to like between them and I can't go wrong either way. I think I'll just flip a coin. Thanks for the input guys.

Is that just a bad news channel with a Christian/Revelation motif?
Prevalent.

Lots of info here. I noticed more info posted lately and I thought I should share. Enjoy.

Why couldn't that asshole of just shot himself in the head and left everybody else alone? Senseless murderer.

Well I was out shooting and the BHO got stuck. Couldn't release the bolt. The spring had popped off this thing. What a terrible design. Where I shoot I need to have a BHO feature and I think it's helpful for loading mags as well but there has got to be a better option than they way the factory designed it.
Do I need to grind off any rivets to fix this, or can the pin that holds the BHO be pushed out to reattach the spring. In the future I'd like to do a conversion, but for now I'd just like to have a functioning zombie blaster.
I used a 1/4" SAE washer, between the receiver and the BHO and I have never had so much as a hic-up since. BTW this is in the wrong section.

I'm not trying to stir the pot but in the Bible, God uses earthquakes to warn us of ......... this, that and the other. That part of the country hasn't had an earthquake of this magnitude since 1896? I think GOD is sayin something, just sayin.

Here's another update on this matter with video.

A couple of the incidents seem like they were pretty mild and a lot seem like they were very serious. Bunch of cowards! 2011 has the most and if this trend continues, it will get worse.

Once in awhile, I look on google maps at the Nellis Air Force Bombing Range, just cause I can. You know " area 51". This shit is funny and real.

So the bastards use excessive force for this. Don't get me wrong, I strongly support law enforcement but this is BULLSHIT! They should have walked in with a search warrant and looked around. Instead, they kick in the door and rush in guns drawn and ready to battle! Talk about excessive and too much force!

I, E-mailed my buddy who was a RRF for the base here in town about this and this is the conversation we had. His name is A.

Waite said : What do you think about this .........
A said: OSI is the air forces version of the FBI, there is no reason as to why they were involved. Posse Comitatus prohibits this, even if they're the "tactical command", they can only do their job on DoD property. This is what martial law looks like. They're so bored that they jump into stuff like this, illegally. The military is being morphed into an illegal civilian role, it's been going on since 9/11. Military intelligence has been spying on people at least to my knowledge as far back as 2002, if not sooner.Waite said:Even though it's not DoD property, do you think it involved DoD personnel and property and that's why they are involved? Stolen guns or ammo perhaps?A said:If it involved DoD personnel and property, more than likely there would have been a couple of OSI guys there to oversea any inventory, and potentially a couple SP's (airforce MP's) to officiate/oversea any arrests, document inventory, and maybe seal any evidence for DoD. the alphabet agencies can do all of this without DoD assistance, so their presence there was unnecessary. If OSI had any direct involvement other than observation of any DoD personnel or equipment, then court martials need to happen. This raid is standard enforcement of fed and local agencies. -
Until this happens I will use discernment!

i have a little "play cash" and it is burning a hole in my pocket. I have narrowed it down to a few things that I have been wanting....
1- AK74 (or a Saiga in 5.45), conversion parts, a few mags , and a case of ammo.
2- MKA 1919 and a few mags
3- Draco pistol, tax stamp, and a bullpup kit
4- 3 AR15 uppers for some pass around range beaters on complete spare lowers that I already have
(maybe the $399 PSA M4 uppers)
5- more MD-20s
6- Keltec Sub2000 9mm (Glock mag model) and a couple cases of 9mm
7- SBS stamp for one of my S12s
8- 1-4x optic for my multi-gun AR
9- SBR stamp for one of my G19s and a Mako/Fab defense Glock carbine chassis
10- .22 supressor
11- Threaded factory Glock barrel and a supressor
12- SBR stamp for one of my SLR107URs
13- More cases of ammo in 5.56, 7.62, and 9mm. Maybe some .22 cal and 12 ga too.
14- Start building a motor for my Cadillac coupe. This is something that I have been putting off due to the sheer expense of it.
LMFAO... Pick a # between 1-14. I wish I had your problem.
