The only time I ever stocked up for platforms I don't own is when I knew I wanted a Mosin and a Tokarev and ammo to go had a deal on x25 and x54r spam cans. I bought a can of each and within the year, had a Tok and Mosin.

I like the tech site Makeuseof, I learn a lot about cutting edge tech there. They posted an article about smart scope technpolgy making leaps and bounds (Linux based of course) so I couldn't help but leave a positive comment. Turns out, a lot of keyboard warriors aren't feeling the tech love for rifle scopes, lol! Check out some of the comments, the article is pretty new, so not that many yet. Energy = mass x velocity. Seems like removing the mass (all those pretty holes) would reduce energy. You would gain a short burst of velocity with the same energy (the powder charge) but it would slow quicker and hit a lot less harder.
