  1. It took 10 years to recover after the great depression of the 1930's. And it took WW2 to boost the recovery.

    It took 16 years after the early '70's crash. Reagan's policies helped that with import tarrifs and tax cuts.

    This one will never get back to original numbers because of the nature of it's cause. So much fake wealth was generated-credit debt, grossly inflated home values, outsourced manufacturing, and wage to inflation disparity. Just to start seeing growth again will easily take 20 years under the current policies.

    Another "see, my plan works-vote for me ploy by 'bama."

  2. Man, I feel like a puss next to that shit!

    1. Kidney stone-the morphine did work on me. Boy did it ever!

    2. Got my right thumb stuck between a grinding wheel and the rest plate, blood poured out of where my thumb nail and meat used to be, soaked the wheel and splashed me in the face! Damn thing throbbed for months!

    3. Chemicals soaked through my boots and ate all the skin off the top of my feet. Got pics, but old school camera and no scanner.

    4. Fell in a hole and broke 2 ribs, 1 week later got in a fight and took a bat to those same ribs. I was drunk at the time so didn't really hurt.

    5. And now the most pussified answer of all...When I was 10 my mom whacked me with a 6' licorice whip and that shit hurt worse than anything up until the other 4 I listed!

  3. Today Harley Davidson union employees voted 89% yes to stay in York county Pennsylvania. Good news for us-especially me, I work for a company that is 80% dependent on H.D. Bad news for Kentucky, although the H.D. brass won't finalize it until 12-9. I was surprised at the vote because it had a lot of concessions, 7 year wage freeze, and a need for up to 1000 jobs to be cut out of the 2000 they employ. A lot of those guys know they will be cut and still voted yes for the greater good. It's a shame because we know the company is using the down turn to get a better contract, but H.D. sales are down 91% from this time last year, so there wasn't much choice. In the last 10 years we lost Catapillar, York International, Phaltzgraph, and many others. The only reason I live in this area is because of all the industry. I would have been out of here if H.D. left. I never worked a union and probably never will, but thanks guys. York County owes you one. Now if we can get Governor Ed Rendel-D (spendel) the hell out of here, we'll be in buisness.

  4. There's something to all the science but like a lot of you said, a bunch of people-'Al Gore' are poised to rake in tons of $ if they get their way. Same goes the other way-oil, coal companies. Remember the 1980's when Canada got pissed at us for all the acid rain that blew north. They traced that to coal fired plants. All I know is I don't like breathing air I can taste or swimming in water that catches fire. I like hiking and hunting in forests and walking on sludge free/needle free beaches. Don't gotta be a tree hugger to like those things. Keep waste management/emissions honest and keep improving technoligies and it'll be fine.

  5. That is gut wrenching to say the least! Here in York, Pa we are holding our breath until December 2 when Harley Davidson's union votes on the new contract. If it's no, they're going to Kentucky and my job, like many others in the area depends on them. Sad state of affairs. Corporate greed and government medaling at it's finest. It took 8 years to recover after the great depression of the 30's, 10 years after the 70's, this one will never get back to 100% because of the nature of this recession. Inflated home values + massive debt + weak manufacturing sector + Federal reserve devaluation of currency = a much lower standard of living for most of us. If left the way things are, we will have 5% haves and 95% have nots, no more middle class. Good luck to all.

  6. I guess the only real problem I have with any group targeting things they don't approve of is where is the line? what's to stop people from coming after the things that I like? Heavy metal-always under attack look at the pmrc, the Gores, Newt Gingrich and churches tried to silence it. UFC-Mccain went after it. Pornography-it took Larry Flint and Hugh Hefner to protect it. Obscene comedy-Lenny Bruce and George Carlin protected it. Fatty foods-liberals try to ban them. Alcohol-our government banned it and created a crime state. Those are all freedoms protected by the constitution yet they need to be constantly defended from people who don't approve. I miss the old days of "if you don't like the show, change the channel" now everyone feels a need to champion movements to cast blame on everything but real problems. You don't like gays-don't be gay. You don't like abortion, teach and practice birth control and hope to God that a rape never occurs to someone you know and they are faced with a burden no one should ever face. These are examples of many different groups, not a religion bash, because that too is a freedom that needs to be protected. I agree that values are in the tank and are getting worse as time goes on, but to blame the slide on gays and abortions is short sighted. The reality is that if someone can make a buck off of something, it won't be illegal for long and there will be a commercial for it eventually.

  7. Gotta love religious topics, always spirited and enlightening. My tolerating others philosophy may have got jumbled a bit. I do not and everyone else should not tolerate any kind of behavior that we don't view as acceptable. Example, break into any of our homes or attempt to harm us or our loved ones, take away any of our rights and a painful demise will ensue. I'm sure we all agree to that. I have trouble believing that any of us can not display religious themes on our property, I live in central Pa, and I see a lot of really nice Christmas decorations out already. My wife and I take walks and drives just to admire them even though I don't belong to any religion 'she's Christian'. I pass a lot of churches on the way to and from work and a lot of people seem to be using them. I have no problem with 'under God' on our money or in the pledge. The religion under attack argument I just don't get. Best I can figure is some parts of this country are more liberal than others, but none of that is happening here. I live near Dover Pa, remember the evolution vs. intelligent Design case that bankrupted the school and got the whole board voted out. That was corrupt people flying the Christian banner trying to push their agenda. The people who attempt to use faith as a tool are some of the worst around and they are relentless. Research an organization called 'the family' they believe rich and powerful people have better rights than poor people under God. I lost my best friend to similar warped people, he joined a weird little church and it was like he was brainwashed. We no longer speak, because he has to constantly pursue new recruits and belittle everything that doesn't fall in line with their doctrine. I love this forum and respect everyone on it, and I'd hazard a guess the stuff we have in common out ways the stuff we don't. It's the one place a gun loving, metal head, beer drinking, machinist can read and interact with honest people. Stay true to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and above all-freedom for all!

  8. A good read, here's my take. Most Christians, Catholics, Atheists, Satanists, Republicans, Democrats, Homosexuals, etc. that I have met are good people and fun to be around as individuals, but put any of them into a group long enough and they change. They become the oposite of the person I was just talking to. The Christians did a lot of great things throughout history, but evil does walk among them. American slave owners, Crusaders, Inquisitors, and even Hitler flew the rightous banner. It all boils down to stick to your ideals but leave the judging and persicutions to whoever you pray to to sort out. I used to be Republican and Methodist, now I'm an independent agnostic that tolerates nearly anyone's point of view, so long as it doesn't interfere with my right to happiness. And I would never dream of interfering with someone elses lifestyle just because it's not like mine. I guess all I'm saying is now would be a good time for chrches to use they're influence for unity so we can focus on real problems of division in this country and save gay marriage, abortion, etc. for when the real problems of corruption and corporate tyranny are solved and we're bored again. While I don't agree with some of your post, I respect the passion and the freedom of expression you used and all I ask is that you recognize others' as well.

  9. A little fun with math it is. I added my wife's little guns and stll didn't get 10,000.

    Kill number chart:

    1. Mosin, 7.62 x 54= 411.48

    2. S-12, 18.5 x 76= 1406

    3. Rem 870, 18.5 x 76= 1406

    4. Mossy 410, 12 x 76= 912

    total= 6,476.28

  10. I work at Worthington and they are a pretty stable and large company. We make the steel skids Harleys get shipped on, but all together we got compressed gas cylinders, all kinds of steel pallets, metal framing, coils, galvinizing, etc. so the corp will survive, but I may need to follow the action. Harley's sales dropped 91% since this time last year! The only thing the company wants is for the union guys to multi task like the rest of us have to. A screw driver guy won't screw on more than one job, etc. Hope they get off their lazy asses and learn to do a little work, otherwise one of the southern states is gonna get one hell of a job boost. On a lighter note-I'm headin' up to Hutingdon county Pa to visit family and do some Saiga shootin' There's a nice shotgun range right next to my mom's place. Lookin' forward to it.

  11. Good stuff, I love happy endings. Did you here about the one in Montana last year? a 15 year old girl was home alone when 2 latin males broke in. She took up position at the top of the stairs with a shotgun and took one out with a chest shot on the way up the steps, not sure about the other one. Turns out they killed a man and stole his gun-which they had at the time. She was a champion skeet shooter! I love that one. Shame she didn't get them before they got that guy though.

  12. Agreed, this is the best forum out there. Hands down the best group of folks on the web. I'm still a newb, but I dig the company. Other gun sites are all: over the top, bunker building, red blooded, god fearing, semi-literate, wanna kill you if you don't agree with me types. And other political sites are wishy/washy, bean sprout eating, hug a tree and don't bathe, piss and moan but do nothing yahoos. But here we got some characters that won't bore the hell out of ya, and are downright genuine. What more could you ask for. I'm with ya on the troubled times. I live in York Pa, and my job is dependent on Harley Davidson staying here. They go, I'm out of work and it looks like a real crap shoot right now. We lost CAT and York International, we can't loose another.

  13. Damn, I forgot some. Worms Armageddon/World Party for Dreamcast kicked ass! I had a team named S.T.D.S with names like anal warts, rectal pain, etc. I would get online to play and people would be like "what the hell's wrong with you" Loved those games. I agree that every final fantasy after 7 sucked! Speaking of classics, Intellivision had one called AD&D Treasure of Tarmin. It was the first 1st person rpg with inventory management. I still play it on the Intellivision Lives cd rom. I guess I'll add to the list too.

    I know, for a guy with an ass load of guns, there's no shooter games on the list. Don't dig 'em.

  15. Wow, this turned into an all out operating system debate. I've never messed around with Mac OSX but the guy that did the graphics on my old band's cd and t-shirts swore by it...too pricey for me though. I used Windows until recently when Linux Mint 64 came out and now I'm never going back. I ran my system monitor with XP, Vista, and Mint and let me tell ya, Mint uses so little resources to run, XP was acceptable, Vista was freakin' criminal in it's ineficiency! My wife even made the switch to Mint, it's like Ubunto but a lot more user friendly. You still got to play around with some aps, but once it's in, they run smooth. If gaming is an issue-because it's the only thing Windows is better at, do a dual boot or virtualize. You can run all 3 o.s.'s on one pc. I've already hit attack websites with Linux/Mozilla and zero viruses. Try that with Windows and you'll be sorry.

    Windows=life without walls.

    Linux=life without Gates.

  16. Gore's a douchebag, I watched his "documentary"-I watch 'em all, even Mike Moore's crap and he spent as much time belly aching about the election as he did on climate change. It all comes down to common sense. Do you fire up the grill in your living room, enjoy swiming in sewage, walking on beaches lined with spent needles. Probably not. Fine the bastards that pollute, keep the laws simple and enforced when it comes to spewing cfcs, sulfor dioxide, etc. co2 is a large part of air, they might as well tax nitrogen since that's what air is mostly made of. I've always hated Gore since the old PMRC days when his bitch wife tried sweeping censorship on music-die hard metal heads like me don't dig that. If you ever see any footage of the trials with Dee Snyder, Frank Zappa, and John Denver defending the 1st amendment, take notice to Al and Tipper Gore sitting nice and snug with Newt "ass face" Gingrich. Nothing unites the partys like squashing freedom. Loved that post about the Prius prick, had a similar dealing with a co-worker, it's fun shutting them up.

  17. Used to love Alienware pre-Dell. I heard they don't even use AMD anymore. Build your own is the best way to go. Few years ago I got my wife a Compaq Presario sr1820nx and I got a sr1850nx. Put 4 gigs of ram, AMD 4000+ cpu, 1 gig gpu, and Linux Mint 64 o.s. in both. No where near the price of an Alienware and will hold up for a long time. Going to put AMD 4800+ x2 cpu's in eventually.
