  1. Thanks for the response, I did try to have it centered, but I might have been off. I think I will try the small hammer, and see if it is just stuck with paint.
  2. As I mentioned in my post, I have the AK sight adjustment tool, but it seems to be stuck. Could not get it to budge.
  3. I have the AK sight adjustment tool, and was able to get the elevation dialed in. But it is shooting just a hair left. While I was at the range I could not get the windage adjustment to move at all, no matter how hard I tried to crank on the sight adjustment tool. Any suggestions for loosening it up, to be able to get a little adjustment?
  4. I don't have the mount yet, but I had asked the same question before and was told it is to low to see the iron sights. So I am planning on getting the quick detach one, in case I have a problem with the scope and want to go back to the irons.
  5. Thanks for all the info guys, going to get mine ordered up!
  6. After checking out everything I have been able to find, the UTG side mount seems to be the best fit for me. My question is, and yes I have searched to try to find the answer, can you still see the iron sights, or does it sit to low? Also does the quick detach seem to lock as tight as the one with the 3 screws? Thanks for the help.
  7. I have seen mention of several different side scope mounts. I have had a hard time telling what is what on different websites, when I have looked for one to order. For those that have them, could you give me some feedback on how happy you are with what you are using, and a possible link to where it is available. Right now I am planning on putting a NcStar Mark III Tactical in 2x7x32. Any info would be appreciated!
  8. After doing a search I have read that 150 gr seems to be better for the Saiga than 180. I will mostly shoot pretty cheap ammo when I am at the range and out having fun. Although I would like to find out what quality ammo shoots best in my 308. Figure I will need to try out a few different types. Was curious what you guys may have found to shoot well in your 308. Figure that would at least give me a good place to start. Thanks for any info!
  9. Price, reliability. Pretty much sums it up for me. You made a great choice with the Saiga. It is something that will last and last, and go bang everytime you pull the trigger. If the shooting bug really grabs you, and someday you want a very precise weapon. You might purchase another platform, but you will always be glad you have that Saiga in your safe for backup.
  10. Awesome! Thanks so much for the link!
  11. I would go for the more traditional AK look over the SOCOM look for sure! Just seems to fit what this was designed to be.
  12. With a drill look at the Photo gallery and you will see how others have ventilated their forarms....... Yes, but that does not answer if it has really helped the cooling problem, or just looks cool.
  13. Just took my new saiga out to the range last Sunday. Had a blast, and have the parts coming to do the conversion. I had planned on leaving the stock handguard on for now, but was amazed how warm it got. Does venting the handguard help this problem much? If so what is the best way to cut the vents in the handguard, and where would you want to put the vents? Thanks for any info!
  14. Great stuff, thanks for the help!
  15. Going to head to the range for the first time with my new 7.62x39 Saiga. Just going to be using the iron sights and going to start at 25 yards. Does anyone know where I should be shooting at 25 yards to be dead on at 100. Also if I am dead on at 100 yards what would the drop be at 200 and 300 yards. Thanks for any info! Excited to go shoot my Saiga for the first time!
