LOL! Damn......you guys aren't making this decision any easier!

My search for the final piece of my lightweight AR pistol is now down to this. Most parts have been acquired or are going to ship (someday) when the parts are available.
I don't need a Super bright light, 150 Lumens would be just fine. I don't really use lasers (insert shark joke here) but am willing to give it a whirl.
So it's come down to these models.
Surefire X400
Streamlight TLR-2
I use Glock lamps on my pistols (Glocks) so I don't really have much experience with these.
Can both of these hook on to a Picatinny Rail?
Are they both about the same durability?
Which one has better features?
Which one would you choose?
I like the price of the TLR-2 when compared to the Surefire X400 but I'm a little concerned about it's durability, I've come to like Surefire a good amount over the years and use a lot of there hand held flashlights which have been very rugged.

Find redcreek1 over on the .458 forums if you still want a .458 barrel.
Will do, and thanks for the heads up.
I'm actually trying to reduce my amount of calibers (to much reloading, LOL!), it's an internal struggle!

I actually like it a lot......then again if you put the words "breakdown" and "rifle" in the same sentance my ears perk up!

Really nice build you got there! As Shooter already said, way to use good parts

I tend to agree but........
There are smaller company's out there that you can purchase vehicles from that are incredibly well built (long lasting). This is kinda like saying no does custom butchering anymore because there standing in a Wal-mart and all you see is Walmart shit with out custom butchering...... The statement was made before research was done. My old man worked for Ford, I'm proud of him and what he's done and understand why the cars aren't built like tanks. VERY few people keep a car longer then a few years anymore even if it's in perfect condition. Oddly I'm the opposite and will drive what ever vehicle I own until it's dead in the water, that said I'm not very nice to my vehicles.
There ARE other options out there but for some reason it must have to have a big brand name for some people to buy.
Anything can be done for a price, you just won't get the logo of a big company on there.
Support America and hire your local custom shop, who knows maybe you'll make them the next big thing.

Your nick led to disappointment.
Agreed. I was expecting to see my first Glock with a chainsaw, I blame it on his beer.

Are you going to do a lift eventually? I didn't realize how low the clearance was, but if you have a lot of clearance you could just go with some BIG tires.

There are a lot of excited people in California right now.

There catch is that they say to contact them for shipping, and then never return your E-mail. I usually check in to this stuff but I was in a rush to get the project completed (huge error on my part). Murphy always gets you when your in a rush.

go4tze, the point was there had already been communication from me to them with no response. They held my money and had details to get in touch with me in 4 different ways.....
If your going to F people with high priced shipping (half the cost of the originally purchased product? that's Fing shady if you ask me) then be up front instead of waiting for a phone call from the buyer. They are primarily an internet based company, cheap shipping or at least reasonable shipping should be the goal of any E-retailer, it's just good business.

I went from a single stage to a progressive and am slowly moving back to a larger single stage setup. I'm even thinking of making a different bench just for brass prep. With 300 Blackout ruling most of my reloading time I've been spending a ton of time just making brass and have decided not to go the route of a super automated setup like a 1050 or 650 with add ons.
I used to reload a ridiculous amount of calibers but have massively reduced my gun collection to a reasonable and realistic level. Since then I've been primarily reloading 10mm, 300 blackout and 308. I purchase 9mm and 7.62x39 since prices have dipped down to a reasonable level.
I may from time to time reload some 450 Bushmaster and a few other wildcats that I'm waiting to purchase barrels for but I won't be doing any volume.
Who has a setup for .50BMG? what is it?
I'd love to own a .50 someday so I'm in no rush to purchase, just want to get info.

I purchased a low profile gas block from them. The price of the gas block was $39.00, I never got a response on what shipping was and figured by it's size it could be shipped in a small box, but I figured "what the hell, I'll be a nice guy and send an extra $10.00 to cover shipping. I wanted to get the ball rolling on my project so I sent it quickly assuming that they would send it as soon as payment arrive. A month went by.........
I E-mailed a couple times and then gave them a ring, there reply was "oh yes sir we have it ready to ship, you just need to pay the rest for shipping".....Now I don't know about you guys but I've been able to send just about anything by USPS with there flat rate shipping for much less then $10.00, and those items were much, MUCH larger then a gas block. after asking what was owed on the balance he replied $9.36.....................$19.36 for shipping an item that can fit in the palm of my hand! WHAT THE?
Moral of the story, learn from YARPs mistake, call and get prices on shipping before putting in a bid on anything (and don't support those rat bastards over at LG Outdoors).

Your fire and brimstone approach is pretty funny considering you started this post by judging someone elses faith for there "faults" or "sins" (in your opinion), there is much scripture that can back up the fact that you are just as sinful for doing so. alas this isn't a religious forum so I will refrain.

FYI-I'm Christian and I cuss ALOT, hell I don't even know I'm cussing half the time!
Because you were educated in Michigan (poorly).. & have a limited vocabulary and reach for the F-word when you need an adjective or a verb.. Ask me how I know!
LOL! he speak da trufe, wese people hera in da norf gonna goto da skool to learn da edumacation to get ares GE doubles D ta go to 1 a dem farncy calloges!
Shit, I think I spelled one of those words wrong, LOL!
Edit to add:We'd probably have the biggest education fund in the nation if road work wasn't an official season. I can here the Governor now, "We had 8,000,000,000.00 for the education fund but we have to fix a couple potholes.....so there's only $100.87 left for the education budget now". HA!

LOL! WOW.......Is this going to the humor thread or what? This is hillarious.

I've messed around with a bunch of setups over the past few years and realize now how much equipment varies depending on your goals. Looking back I would've spent my money a little differently but I suppose that goes for anything. I've stopped reloading as many calibers which has helped with the ridiculous amount of dies and different kinds of brass.
Whats your "setup" and why?

I have a G20C and If you want some cheap decent power 10mm target rounds Georgia Arms makes some 10mm reloads @ 1275fps. It's like $21-22 for 50rds.
But that's just .40S&W power. Suppose it's OK for target shooting, though.
Scott, this ammo would be equivalent to target ammo. Not every round has to be running hot.
on top of that, I haven't found to many "target" loads for the .40S&W that are running at those velocitys. Medium to premium ammo? yes, but not target.
-
I don't look at it as a self defense gun, there are much better choices then that. It does however pattern somewhat better then the Judge and would make a pretty nice "small critter getter". I've used the judge for rabbit hunting and been pretty pleased with its performance and would definatley consider this one.

Nice buy! All the sugestions mentioned are great. A chainsaw would be a good edition if your dealing with downed trees.
-
uh oh - hope I didn't open a can of worms with the 9mm comments. I'm more focused on .45acp comparison anyways.
I'm teasing (I like/carry 10mm), I avoid those types of discussions now. I'd personally take 9mm for capacity and faster shot to shot times but like that .45ACP is so easily suppressable with just about any factory ammo. Every caliber has it's use.
I personally like the G21 SF, having the grip reduced is even better but that's not what your looking for.
Between the two I'd take the HK if money was no object, my biggest concern would be dealing with there CS.
I haven't played with the XDs enough and the one I did shoot was a 9mm.
-
I thought about getting a 9mm but I dont really get excited about 9mm handguns for some reason. I feel like if I have a 45 and can afford lots of ammo there's no strong argument for 9mm. Thoughts?

Howdy folks. putting my saiga 12 on hold while i finish an ar build.
anyone got a spikes tactical ST-T2 buffer?
I also need a David Tubb CS Flatwire buffer spring.
I have a ST-T2 buffer but I bought it off of GB, maybe PWS has one?

Josh-I already placed my order, but I'll check it out in the future. I've been hunting around for a .458 SOCOM barrel also but can't find one, should have never gotten rid of the one I had, it's one heck of a sweet caliber! That FH looks pretty interesting and I'd like to give it a try.

If your buying a house and you've already blown your money on a down payment......
Your going to need extra cash, I guarantee it. Little things will need to be fixed before they become big things, this closing cost or that closing cost will bite you in the rear, and you need a little nest egg in case anything goes wrong (DON'T MISS A MORTGAGE PAYMENT!).
It's just a gun, not your first born. I used to live by the motto "never sell a gun"......then I sold a ton of'em and realized how little I actually NEED versus how many I WANT. Unless your plan is to arm your whole neighborhood don't get in the habit of buying and feeding a bunch of guns the first year you buy a house.
