im looking to buy a tin of 1080 milsurp 5.45 rounds, whats the best price and place to get them? the rguns website is selling for $150 but i could have swore i saw them for 125 or so somewhere else

i bought em off centerfire last week they were 13$ a piece. i think they were supposably izzy plums that got painted over or something and labaled 'bulgaria' i think.. they dont have the feedramp on them. im still gonna put the bullet guide in because i already bought it, i was just suprised it worked

this weekend i shot my saiga converted for the first time. i still hadnt put the bullet guide in but figured id try out a milsurp mag anyway. a couple times i had to pull the bolt back once or twice to get the first bullet to feed in, but after the first it worked perfectly whats the deal?

If you're shooting corrosive ammo, you will need to clean it not too long after shooting. Otherwise, you can afford to be lazy. what parts do i clean after using corrosive ammo?

this is going to be my first time shooting the saiga this weekend. before i shoot it are there any last bits of maintenance i need to do? the manual said to clean the bore to remove grease. what should i do this with? the box came with the cleaning rod but nothing to clean it with after i clean the bore, do i need to lube it at all? i dont have lube either. after shooting, do i need to clean the bore again or will it be fine

I don't know a damn thing, about 5.45's specifically, but assuming the answers to your 2 questions are the same as they would be, if speaking of a x39 Saiga....... 1) Compare a regular AK mag next to a Saiga mag. You'll see that there's a little "lip" on the front of the feedlip area, that is absent on a regular AK mag. Using a regular AK mag (again, which doesn't have that "lip"), the bullet guide bumps the round up a tad, when it's being fed into the chamber. That's exactly what the "lip" on the front of factory Saiga mags do. 2) I've heard that they are supposed to, but I've seen

1) why do i need a bullet guide to use milsurp mags but i dont need one to use saiga mags? whats the difference? 2) i just bought dinzags guide for my 5.45. i havent installed it yet but i slipped it in position just to see what it was like and it hangs over the edge a little. is it supposed to hang over?

^^Agreed. The ones at centerfire have been sanitized and painted black by Arsenal Bulgaria (Not the guys in Vegas). They are plum magazines that the Russians sold/gave to the Bulgarians at one time or another. At $12 and change they are the best deal in the market right now. I have 4 of them (although I bought them a while ago from another vendor and used paint thinner and elbow grease to remove the black finish). Anyway yakdung has no idea what hes talking about, just buy surplus when they are available cheap (no need to test one out like he says, thats just silly and a waste of double

i got my conversion parts recently and decided to go with the new retaining plate because it was like $5 cheaper. it seems to install into the gun quite differently and havent figured out how to do it yet, any one help me here?

it took me a while but i got the rivets out and im now trying to drill out that spot weld. i odnt know if anyone else had problems with this, but my drill wont cut through this thing its pretty much just polishing the outside i have cobalt bits and have tried drilling through from top and bottom of teh gun but the bit just spins any tips?

alright for my 5.45x39 i bought a us trigger and buttstock which would bring foreign parts down to 10. the thing im confused about is my pistol grip. the way i read it in the sticky is that installing a pistol grip would bring the parts count up to 11, but that doesnt make sense to me because the pistol grip is american. so am i fine with 4 american parts and the pistol grip, or do i need to buy another american part as well

1) if i dont put a bullet guide in will it be able to take foreign mags? i wanted to get some 30 round mags 2) is it difficult to install?

ive been trying to get the rivets off the trigger plate but they are being extremely stubborn i've filed them down flat with the dremel and have drilled through them and tried to hammer them out with a steel punch the rest of the way and it isnt working. ive also tried hammering them out with a screwdriver and pulling them out form underneath with needlenose pliers one of them is so lose i can turn it but the damn thing wont come out

can anyone help me find a gunsmith in the chicagoland area that can do a saiga conversion?

i am 6'3" and it does not cause too much trouble... you are moving the trigger forwards afterall. the grip felt a bit unnatural though until i added an inch to the buttplate with a limbsaver. i had the same problem with my AK though. can u link me to the limb saver? im about an inch or 2 taller than you so it may be troublesome for me as well.. we'll have to see after the conversion

another off topic question i ordered the tapco original ak style buttstock and just realied how much shorter this thing is compared to the saiga buttstock. does this cause any troubles for anyone, particularly tall people?

one of the cross conn tutorial images shows one of the pins is a transfer arm pivot. what is it? is it an important piece? it looks like its not used once the trigger is moved forward

i just ordered this pistol grip and noticed that in the tutorial the tip of the bolt sticks out of the bottom of the pistol grip? is there any way to correct this? it looks kind of ugly

how many plastic caps will i need to fill in the holes drilled?
