gun show 7.62 fully converted new in box???

Well I'm new to the AK's, but I just put one in layaway today from firearm exchange, and it looked to be converted, so I asked him and the asian guy said they just come like that, so I left it at that. It looks like its converted and it comes with a 30 round mag; I'm confused, but oh well, I like the way the gun looks.
