  1. There should be a thread in the tech setction about putting a pin in the mag to hold down the 2nd round and thus not crunching the first round. When you need to fire, simply pull the pin, disengage the saftey(if on) and rack the bolt. Works for me.

There is a detailed thread on this but I don't remember where I read it and don't have time at the moment to research it. The pic shows photo's of the mag holes and what was used, pin/ring, and where they were purchased.

  2. I finally got hold of a lawyer in Virginia who is currently making a Trust for me. I've been reviewing the ATF form 1 and I take it that I leave the cheif law enforcement sign off part blank, since I went the trust route?

Correct. I was instructed to put n/a on each line of that section. Mine was approved with the n/a.

  3. My concern is some A hole lawyer or bueracrate causing my family problems. I don't want some one in my family getting screwed over because of a BS techincality. That's why I was wondering about setting up a trust so I could have my spouse as a co trustee so she can have it in her "possesion" ever time I'm not home and she is. I spend a lot of time out of town for work so I want to completely sure we're completely covered on the legal end of things at all times before starting a SBS build. I can't get away with the "she doesn't know the combination to the safe" excuse because she bought it for me and routinely stores things in it.

Then I would definitely have your spouse named in the trust and your covered. Be sure to give some thought to the name of your trust as it may come into play if you need to have something engraved!

  4. Looking for some knowledgable feedback from those who have obtained or explored an NFA trust.

The guy in FLA whose usually linked to in various online NFA trust threads quoted a price of $700 to setup an NFA trust

Theres no "NFA trust" - I simply labeled it as such b/c he markets them as being designed for use with NFA items.

    There is the Quiken/Willmaker option.

I've been hesitant to risk a mistake with this option and end up having big problems or losing my gun(s)

I havent seen anyone report using LegalZoom. Their Living trust is advertised as $220-$300.

I have found no attorney in my home state who does an NFA trust in particular.

Heck, in my area I couldnt find a single one who even knew what I was talking about.

Anyone have another option or more detailed info to offer?????

    TIA

    HarvKY

My attorney that prepared my trust resides in the state of FL and only prepares trusts for residents of FL. My cost was $450. He personally played a big part, as I understand, to get trusts approved by ATF. If anyone is in FL and wants his contact info email be at:

    michael@michaeldavissellshomes.com

PS: I have a friend that used Quicken and never had a problem on any of his many approvals but I agree with the earlier suggestion that you should have an attorney, that specifically understands NFA, to prepare it. I think $700 sounds a bit too high unless I did not get my money's worth and just don't know it.

  5. Any one know some one I can talk to in NC about setting up a trust so I can get NFA items?

Is I possible to have a trust set up so both you and your spouse are the owners of the trust and everything in it?

I want to makes sure if I do get a SBS there's no way some one could try to claim my wife is in illegial possion of a SBS because I'm not home etc....

    edited for spelling

Absolutely! My wife is definitely not into firearms and since she would have them in per possession if I was not with her thus my attorney advised the trust be in my name only. She is the beneficiary and in the event of her death then our two children are named.

Your wife would not have illegal possession as long as she did not have access to the SBS. For example my wife does not even know the combination to the safe therefore she cannot get into trouble; that I believe protects her to the letter of the law.

  6.

P.S. Vector went out of business a few months back. So much for their lifetime warranty.

Nalioth: I don't think Vector ever went out of business although there were many rumors. They did agree to stop producing their HK clones though. Here is their web site link to AK's for sale:

    Call them and ask.

I called Vector today and did speak with Nina. Nina sold me a few Vector HK clones about 18 months ago. Yes they are still in business and are still offering warranty work! FYI: they told me that they expect to be building their AK line in about 4 months. They did sell their HK clones to a couple guys and they will refer you to them. Their phone # is 801-295-1917.

  7. I've been searching threads and the internet to find a video showing how to install the top wood furniture on the gas tube for my Arsenal SAS M7. It appears the wood is too thick and I've been sanding by hand. I've not been able to get the gas tube to rotate even though I'm using a vise. I purchased the wood furniture set from Poland. Any tips on how to get it to fit and how to install the gas tube is greatly appreciated!

I had to sand the lower wood but got it to eventually fit and lock into place. This is my first AK!

    Thanks

    STOP SANDING!

    Watch this video

I'd suggest you put the square end of the gas tube (the end that is facing the rear) in a vise and use two hands to remove and install the wood. Using two hands provides more support and makes it less likely you pinch the sh** out of yourself.

nailoth: thank you! I'm traveling and I have the parts but no vise. I did not sand much off but do believe the problem is the upper is too thick to rotate 180 degrees. When I had the tube in the vise and tried to turn it with a 3/4" wrench you could see the top of the curved wood beginning to cut in against the metal. The wood furniture was supposedly made for the Polish military for their milled receivers but the lower wood wouldn't fit either without sanding. I used some Break Free on the curved ends to see it it would help.

Any other ideas on how to remove just enough wood IF it still won't rotate with both hands?

  10. Baschieri & Pellagri (B&P) Big Game Palla Tipo 4 1-1/8 oz rifled slugs -- Works, well.

    and

Baschieri & Pellagri (B&P) Big Game Palletoni Tipo 4 1-1/6 oz 00 buck (sorta) -- Works, but is snug front to back, and can be slow to feed, resulting in failures.

Got em...thanks! Anybody else have a comment for the table?

  11. ...it must mean the length of the empty shell before it's rolled/crimped.

Correct. This is why roll-crimped shells are longer than the regular ones.

Noob question: I know what the star crimp is but is everything else a roll crimp? Not sure I know what the roll looks like!

Back to my original post: if the shell easily loads in the MD20 does that confirm it is the correct length and will work OR must we rely on 2.40". I just purchased some Federal 00 that is about 2.429999.

  12. The shells need to move perfectly freely with no binding going both in & out.

On the Wolf 00 I bought, some of them would fit in the drum but I think that was only due to me slightly angling them in.

They almost fit, not quite. They would hang up trying to pop them out manually. You should be able to push them off and

out of the feed stack with a straight push of the finger just like the bolt does it.

You sure on that 2.40" spec? ....... that's under 2 -1/2". The shells that fit my drum have measured very close to 2.75".

I'll have to see if I can find the manual and see if Mike has the length spec in there.

Positive! I read it on Mike's FAQ page. I copied for you:

Q: Does this drum take all 2 3/4 inch 12ga rounds? 3 inch rounds?

A: No. Our mag will take the very most of 2 3/4 inch rounds up to 2.40 inches in length. Some 2 3/4 inch rounds such as roll crimped Wolf and steel cased Silver Bear or too long to fit at 2.50 inches or 2 1/2 inches. This drum will not accept 3 inch mag rounds and can in no way be modified to fit them.

  13. I remember the first time I unscrewed the gas plug and thought the same thing. Your fine. You have to clean/scrape off all the carbon build up that is making it look like you are missing threads!

I'd suggest your order the "Gunfixr Plug". It has 4 not 2 settings as the OEM plug giving you the best gas regulation for the different ammo that you'll shoot!

  14. Regarding the length of the 2 3/4" rounds I know that Mike has set 2.40". A friend brought some RIO Royal Star Hi Power Slugs. I thought I read that these did not work in the MD20. They all loaded fine then failed to eject, thinking that I confirmed that they work I switched them to a Surefire mag then same problem. So I change the gunfixr from -1 to +1 and they functioned fine. Too bad I didn't do that while in the drum.

My question is simply this: if the rounds will load in the drum is that the determining factor as to length? If so I can update the MD20 Ammo Table post below.

BTW: I need more feedback on the table so I can make it a good resource, please help with some posts!

  15. heres one problem that comes up.....cheap ammo misfeeds....and how I clear them.

Ill be sure to demonstrate some other misfeeds and other crap to you at the next Florida shoot....as well as how I clear them.

do keep in mind, that I am taking my time, as this was two years ago, and we were all testing the MD20 on the alpha run (pre full-production run) for Mike D., so everyone paid close attention to malfunctions. The problems that occur, if they occur, can be cleared MUCH MUCH faster.

I think this shows 2 different issues. a crushed misfeed with a second round trying to chamber, and also a stovepipe misfeed.

I can and will demonstrate some other problems, such as ejection problems, if you really want to see any error that can happen with this gun.

Clearing it is usually quite simple: just rack the bolt, or pop the mag and dump the top round off of it.

here is another long term member here, with his 12C w/cutts clearing the weapon from a FTE stovepipe or two, all be it away from the camera....

Thanks Bvamp: looking forward to meeting you at the November shoot!

  16. The federal tactical LE buck shot works as well. There are also others. I will try and get a list together of some of the ones you dont have listed.

Good news as I ordered a case of the Federal LE 00 full power loads, 1325 fps. I understand they are like 2.429999' long but was hoping they were close enough to Mike's 2.40".

Looking forward to your adding to the list.
