  1. I would go with a pump action with less lethal ammunition, cause just like Jettster

put it I'd rather my wife wound than kill someone. By the way my Rem. 870 pump

    has never failed me.

    post-1182-1213148501_thumb.jpg

Both of my 870s failed me. Thankfully it was on the trap range. Broken ejectors in both cases. My Mossy 500 has never failed me but it sits in the back of the safe since I got an S12. The only problem I've ever had with an S-12 is that deformed top round jamming. Now I load the installed mag one short. No mas problemos. As for less-than-lethal ammo. No thanks. If I or my wife have to shoot someone I want them to stay down. Especially if there's more than one BG.

  2. I sent him an address change request many months ago and it was changed promptly. He never told me he had received my email or that he had changed the address.

Mine still hasn't been changed. I guess I'll have to call him. You would think that if he's busy email would be easier and less disruptive. Oh well, I don't want my drum getting lost in the mail like so much of my supposedly forwarded mail has. Dialing...

    Left a message...

  3. So my email from MD Arms says:

    Customers,

First and very important. Please check your shipping address on file with your order for any errors. Make sure you are looking at your order info and not your account info. Also a lot can happen in a year and some of you will have ordered that long ago when next Friday the 15th comes! If you have moved anytime from then until now please check your shipping address on file with your order. PLEASE NOTE: CHANGING THE ADDRESS IN YOUR ACCOUNT INFO DOES NOT CHANGE THE ADDRESS OF A ORDER PLACED BEFORE THE CHANGE WAS MADE. Only I can change the address of an order placed. Everyone please check your info before emailing the need of an address change. I have already changed many addresses for customers and want to reduce the amount of double requests and double order pulling if I have fixed it already. If you do look and find your shipping address listed on your order needs changed please email me with a subject title of "ADDRESS CHANGE". If this is not the subject title I can't guarantee I will catch the request.

I sent in two separate requests for my address to be changed and nothing. Friday the 15th has been and gone and my order still has my old address listed on it. WTF?

  4. From a selfish perspective . . . will this effect our prices for Russian ammunition from Wolf, Barnaul, etc?

It does not appear to be affecting prices or projected availability, at least from where I sit.

and by the way, Hawk up there has a good point http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9aMgFQpc1c

watch the video he posted. they keep cutting eyewitnesses off from telling their story.

Ive also been following various new sources about this (If I cant get saigas to sell you guys, this conflict will affect me, in all reality) , and it really is a crock of crap the way its been represented.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7jIQah36Gw <<-- I guess its ok for someone to attack Russia's friends, but its not okay for Russia to retaliate and disarm the attacker. Lets get a liberal president and congress in office, thats right what we need!

At any rate - It appears to be over at this point. Maybe people should think twice before they attack a Russian protectorate/ally. We would and HAVE had the same types of responses in the past.

We should all be responsible Americans, and not take what the media says or portrays domestic and world events as cast in iron. We all know how they treat our 2nd Amendmant right, and the lies and mis-truths they tell. Be careful what you believe.

What happens when Russia decides they don't like the way their "friends" in Southern California are being treated? DUH.

  5. yep, the RG14, "the gun that almost did Ronald Reagan in". A $40 gun with a reputation for exploding after 50 rounds takes down the leader of the free world. That was the begining of the end for gun rights, as the initial legislation was to make the RG "Saturday Night Specials" illegal to sell; soon everything else was evil too. RGs are bad luck man!

Actually the beginning of the end of gun rights came in 1934 when the DemocRATs passed the National Firearms Act.

  6. Hi Mike,

I sent an email with "Address Change" in the Subject line but my shipping address hasn't changed on my order(EV-6XX) yet. Do I need to resend it? I'm worried that it will get shipped to my old address.

    Thanks

  7. My worsts:

Interdynamic KG-99 (early version of the Intratec Tec-9)

It was so good I also bought an

    Intratec Tec-22

Both major jam-o-matics. Very picky about ammo. Very innaccurate.

On the positive side: threaded barrels, vented barrel shroud, and high cap mags. :killer: Made in the U.S.A.

I do own an VP70-Z as well, but it isn't my worst because at least it fires when I pull its horrible trigger.

Funny, in the early 80s my brother-in-law told me "You gotta get your ass over to Western Surplus and get a KG-99!". So I got my ass over to Western Surplus and got a KG-99. Needless to say I never listened to anything that guy said about firearms ever again. I sent it back to the factory three times because it would not cycle. When I got it back the third time they had replaced the bolt and the barrel but I could hear a rattling noise so I disassembled it to find the recoil spring in six pieces. Shipping damage I guess. They mailed me a new one and installed it and sold that POS pronto to some poor unsuspecting schlub at a gun show.

  8. I have a sweet shooting little Llama .22 mini-1911, a Rossi model 62, a Browning ATD and a Winchester Model 12 and I've owned several other Browning designs like Auto-5, numerous 1911s including a Grizzly .45 win mag, but when it comes to self-defense I'm a Glock man - G27 and G20.

I would recommend everyone read his biography that Browning publishes. It's a truly fascinating read.

  9. Well that's sobering to hear... I was going to pick up the kel-tec later today or tomorrow, looks like I'm going to give it some heavy reconsideration, thanks for the info E.C.

    No problem G.G.

Saigaboy: I have a hard time shooting a Savage, they just seem like a cheaply made rifle to me. Doesn't matter if they can drive nails at 500 yards I still won't be happy with it. I have the same type of feelings for Glock and S&W. They're all just brands I can't give the time of day no matter how many times I make myself try them out. And on top of that isn't Savage an Asian based company?

And as far as the whole money borrowing thing.... we're borrowing it, but a funny statement I heard at the Funstore the other day was: How are they going to make us re-pay it? I'm sure the gvt. will give what they want WHEN they want... but lets say China starts getting pissy about it saying they want it NOW... what are they going to do? sue us? come collect? Come get it! :lolol:

My daughter got to pick a handgun from my collection on her 21st B-day. She picked the Savage 1907 pocket model .32(mfg'd in 1915)she's been shooting since she was six. I tried to talk her into something more modern but she insisted that it was always her favorite, it's never malfunctioned and she can hit what she shoots at with it. It still bugs me but she's comfortable with it so WTF, at least she's packing heat. That pistol is solid as a rock. I owned a Savage 99c in .308 once also. It was a very nice rifle. Still kicking myself for letting it go.

  10. I was thinking about splurging on one, but am also worried about issues with it cycling properly.

If the spring moves opposite the bolt, it may stop the bolt from going all the way rearword and ejecting the spent case and chambering the next.

I contacted Mesa Tactical (they put it on 870 stocks), and since they live in CA, they couldn't test it out on a real shotgun! They didn't seem to interested in finding out if it worked as I offered for them to come over and try it out on mine.

This would be great if Tony or Cobra tested it out and gave a report. I just can't see dropping $120+ for something that may not work. If it got either of their endorsements, I would likely buy one!

Hers a Video of my testing the gun. I have since fixed the cycling issues shown in the video(had to open gas ports because they were covered by gas block)

As you can see there is minimal muzzle climb and my shoulder barley moves.

In contrast heres my other S12 with Nato butt stock and butt pad shooting 2 3/4" slugs.

    http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v65/G3N0...nt=DSCI0291.flv

You sold me. I'll be getting two of those. Thanks.

  11. This is great news for you and us.

My prayers are with your loved ones and hope that everyone is doing well.

I for one am not a panic'r, I've been watching the development of both WM and MD. Never even held a WM, but it inherently looked too hollywoodish, you know it looks good in the films, but in real world applications with and open design like that, reminds me of a certain french weapon of WW1, that worked great at the range, but was useless in the trenches, because of an open box magazine.

After over a year of watching I chose the MD20, because of it initial design. Like mentioned I'm not a panic'r, my other hobby is building large scale Sci-Fi resin models. And if you learn anything from that hobby, it's patience. I've had 56" Discovery from 2001, cost 900 clams, waiting now 3 1/2 years and like the MD20 it is almost ready for prodution.

I have owned my conconverted/unshot S12 for 9 years and I am just now getting back to it. Nine years ago, there was no forum for the S12, and stores and shops didn't carry anything for them. As a man of patience, I knew that eventualy it would filter out, and the great minds of americian and others ingenuity would rise to the task, and they did not disappoint me. HUZZAH.

But it seems that my previous 6-8 years of not being involved, has actually limited me. Now I am having trouble finding parts for a conversion. I wont go into detail, but it seems alot of S12 stuff is OOP or never in stock. I may not have all the parts I need, but I do have an S12 and I have paid for a MD drum, so I have at least 2 things that will always be in demand.

Mike has displayed a quality R&D, Manufacturing, QC/A, and Communication to the community at large, that is rerely seen these days. My hat's off to Mike, and MDArms, for birthing this wonderful product. HUZZAH, HUZZAH, HUZZAH !

P.S. As a side note, I walked into my local range yesterday here in Las Vegas, to inquire about range times and fees (yep, I'm actually gonna shoot it). And asked the man behind the counter if I could bring my S12 in to shoot.....blank stare.....ahh....a Saiga 12.........blank stare...."what's that?" My response....blank stare......A rotating bolt, gas recoil, box fed 12 guage AK variant......blank stare......I've got it in the trunk if you wanna see it...........ah yeah....5 minutes later, the entire shop was around looking at it, like it was made of platnium......And it came to me, that most FFL counter clerks are like car sales men, they know it's a gun, but don't actually know anything about guns.

Hope you all stay safe and you can stop biting your nails, the drum is on its way.........HUZZAH !

Yeah, you can't take an S-12 anywhere without drawing a crowd. People freak the fuck out when they see one in action. Someone always asks me how much I want for it, as if it was even for sale. It will only be worse with the 20 round drums. :super:
