  1. All Saiga's BHO levers (minus the S-12) lock the bolt back directly over the center of the mag.

So if you notch the safety lever you can lock the bolt behind the mag. With a loaded mag in you simply flip the safety lever to fire, it chambers a round and it's ready to rock.

www.blackjackbuffers.com had Saiga SWIFT levers but they are out of stock now. I assume the receiver swipe was correct on them (better than their regular AK ones) but comparing several factory levers here, no two are identical.

  2. I decided to just go ahead and drill the hole with a hand drill. I went real slow, making sure I kept the drill straight. I didn't have a tap handle, so I just decided to put the tap in the drill, and go even slower with that, and I kept backing it out to get the shavings out. Everything came out perfect, so all that's left to do is test fire it, and Loctite it. :super:

Actually a hand drill is pretty decent, if it has a slip clutch. Just get the tap lined up with the drilled hole.

NYC.DenseCity, what caliber is it? The 223 guides can be reworked for 10-32 hardware if you need to go larger.

The x39 guides have very little bolt to guide clearance to use a larger fastener, but possibly an 8-32 button head cap screw will work. Let me know if you need rework, hardware and/or drill & tap via email - dinzzag @ yahoo.com

  3. Whatever date we set for the shoot, everyone is welcome to bring their S12 & ammo & give it a go.

I'll bring my clay pigeon thrower so you can bring clays too if you want to do that.

Maybe we can get a friendly $$ game going.

Oh BTW, Dicks had Rem Game loads for $4.48/box, I picked up a couple cases for myself.

Not a bad buy for this time of year.

  4. Sorry 1liter, maybe make a trip on out & I'll let you play.

As for durability of these things I will say they are very sturdy. Possibly the spring may fail over time, but I don't know and may never know. Plus he has replacement ones for sale. The rest of it is really friggen tough.

All high on adrenaline & giddyness I fumbled this one while loading and it bounced on the concrete floor! :cryss:

Don't see a scratch on it though & it still ran fine.

  5. Thanks Twinsen

Yeah you guys all got me jumping through hoops!

Jmhai, I have your brake ready to go. Normally we pack & ship Tuesdays but our ship account is down.

A lot of folks are waiting for their stuff. :cryss:

Right now my inventory is low so delays are pretty much mandatory. Retainers & Brakes are done in batches and move pretty quick when we get 'em.

I was planning on building inventory in January, my you'all wiped me out. I have my buddy helping out here & there in the shop so we are making headway. Just didn't forsee the pickup in business.

    Thanks, everyone!

  6. Griz, I have some 1918 BAR 20 round mags as well as some FN D 20 round mags.

Weld some matching tabs on them, they should rock & lock. Results soon. All the material is in the right places on them and the magwell opening in receiver.

Furniture, BRG3 makes some for it as-is. That or AK furniture, with a few parts.

    Scope mount - standard AK.

    under all the plastic...

Front end is identical to regular Saiga-308 - gas tube, barrel diameter, etc. (under the plastic)

BHO, mine had the standard BHO lever in them.

The trigger assembly is similiar to the regular Saiga 308. Can be converted, but would need to be matched up to the push button safety, or cut keyhole & install regular safety. That and a new triggerguard.

Also the rear end of the receiver is slash cut. When removing the buttstock, remove the safety spring first or you will stretch it out. DOn't ask - lol. Would need to find matching slash cut buttstock or square up receiver.

  7. Opened box at 12:00 today when it came through the door. :smoke: Popped on the metal feed lip clip, headed on out.

Loaded up and fired 100 rounds, only delay was loading her. Ran Winchester AA, Rem Game, Fed Game & Estate game loads. Didn't run slugs or buck yet or high brass shot, but that will be next outing.

If these are the pre-production alpha parts, finished product will not have much room for improvement.

Nice snug fit on all 3 S12's here.

Did I mention it ran flawless? I figured there might be a hang or two depending on ammo, but the stuff I ran didn't hiccup. Got to let the twitchy shoulder rest a bit.

Very nice sturdy design, excellent fit & finish of parts, reliable so far. We will put it through the paces in the upcoming weeks & see what shakes out.

    Congrats Mike!

  8. If it's a little short term we might consider pushing it out a little for better turnout.

In addition I would ask that anyone with a S12 bring it so we can get a wide population spread.

Devin check with Eric. Have Keith bring camera equip.

I know of a couple others who like to fly low who have 'em as well.

  9. Yup that's the price of them puppies. You have a legit complaint, they aren't cheap.

Reason I changed the pricing on the 308 ones as I've found out to make them work properly you first need to account for the shorter safey lever tang. Common practice is to add material to the safety lever. I build up material on the trigger leg and machine it to spec. No mods to lever. You can also take your safety out of any other Saiga and compare, the 308's are different.

The 308's also need the crossmember notch machined in the hammer.

Then the width of the trigger hole in the receiver is greater on the 308's. Another mod. To my knowledge nobody offers a proper Saiga 308 FCG, not even the RSA adjustable I have accounts for that. I could be wrong - someone else may have them figured out.

I also include disconnector spring with them and do all the other work to them I do to the regular pistol grip converted FCG's, hammer modifications & polishing.

I then added the step of refinishing them in black oxide.

Yes they are more pricey than a plain jane G2, but the legwork is done for you.

All the others I have are the same price as they have always been even with the added extras I do now.

Thanks for the backup guys, I've been away from the forum for a bit so I'm just getting back on.
