  1. Thanks guys, great thing is I have two professor friends, bigsal, and one of the guys on my youtube page running my s12. They have been a big help so I skipped orientation and did everything from home and had my shit together the day of admission. The down side, the junk yard starter I put on my old beat up truck went out in the admissions parking lot. Been rolling it off since. Luckily I was able to sign up for three classes 5 miles away on Bristol campus, and one night class about 20 miles away on the main blountville campus.

But one of my best friends is a year ahead on 3d design, and is taking two of these classes with me. Which is cool, he is pretty close, we played music together in highschool band in marching, concert, and a paid jazz band. Sadly his parents wouldn't let him go to Ireland with us due to the 9/11 events the semester previous. But he bought the house that I grew up in, adjacent to his parents where he grew up.

His father was brought back in from retirement at $60/hour for contract work and they have been designing small batches of designs for part time money. This kinda gives me a kick in the ass I need to really have a potential money maker immediately after I graduate. Berettas decision to relocate the entire facility to Tn is an amazing potential fallback. Considering a lot of the jobs they are advertising would be right down my alley and in the industry of my desire.

Just bouncing ideas late and drinking a bit, hey im a student again what the hell. Trying to get back into it will be rough but im getting a laptop with an i5 2.5ghz 4g ram for 200 bucks feom a friend thats not bad eh?

Give me any feedback or recommendations to try to focus on, I'm assuming welding will be important. My uncle is a badass welder, so maybe he can help with that. Idk just excited, nervous, hopefull, and afraid all at the same time.

  2. I've always considered myself a student of life and get compliments for being up to date and well read, but requirements of training and a piece of paper, along with family/friend pressure encouraged me to enroll into a local community college(get your ribbing done early)

Didn't want to jinx myself, but I start Monday. Awarded the full amount on Pell Grant, going for machine tool AAS which hopefully will point me towards my dream of making some real money and eventually into the firearms industry. Who knows maybe someday I'll run a magnificent suppressor manufacturer that all my friends will enjoy! :D

Wish me luck it's been 10 years since I've had formal education.

  3. What does this mean can go without? I got the email blast, shouldn't it say cannot do without?

Anywho, I digress; I called today with several hours remaining on your work day, was put on hold for half an hour, then directed to a answering machine. I was not happy about that but giving the benefit of the doubt, expecting a return call today, being pacific business hours extend 3 hours beyond mine, I reluctantly left a message.

To which I received no return call.

This was a final attempt to redeem this delightful vendor for me personally. I have done thousands worth of business with k-var dating back to 08 or later. And feel like this letdown has broke the camel back so to speak.

If somehow they can bring me back I'll be whistling.a different tune. But being they do not work weekends, I'm not so sure I will hear back.

I have up for the taking, a RAM Saiga 12 trigger guard, that has been cut for use with a traditional pistol grip nut. It's the older style RAM with a flush mount stud as the forward mount, for a cleaner appearance. It is the angled corner version. I don't need it anymore since i riveted an AK Builder guard on my S12.

To use this you will have to cut a square hole in your receiver to accept an AK pistol grip nut, it's easy to do with a drill and hand files.

I still have this for the taking.

I could use this, I will find somethings tonight to add when I am home

So how's that trigger guard working out for you?
excellent very robust, just saw this and realized I bitched out in offering something, I've got a light mount available, slant brake and maybe something else I'll offer up in the morning
  5. I mean he got the 22 version and thinks he can do the conversion like the 5.56 model, which is not correct is it?

I love you guys! Things to separate a fool and his money will never cease to amaze me. A dumbass acquaintance of mine got raped on the .22 version and thinks he can swap barrels haha.gif

Of course he can. I have the specialty barrel to swap into the 22 version. Just gotta send me a bunch of cash and the rifle and I'll do the swap myself 000.gif

  6. Thanks for the encouragement...I meant create my own competitive arena. But joining into one would be neat as well, my tattoo guy belongs the the nearest club and they do some pistol every third Saturday of the month.

That target was just rapid fire, I do shoot slowly  sometimes

I have fiber optic on my last edc for years that work well but in no light they are non existent.

With my new od g19 I want some badass night sights. I've started a thread on glock talk for pictures, here's the link...choose for yourself. http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1533800

I still haven't made up my mind but I'm leaning towards the trijicon

I've got a G-17 that I use for HD too, and I've got Trijicon Night sights on it, I love 'em.

Due to street lights, my house is never totally dark, so you'd be able to see the silhouette of a bad guy, the night sights let you aim accurately in such a situation, or at least let you see the general direction the gun is pointing if you don't have time to aim.

You should never shoot at a silhouette without positive target acquisition/ID.

beef, I would like to hear your opinion about "no light" on fiber sights. Do you mean in a totally dark basement or closet or on an overcast night in a typical outdoors setting?

Also, that's what I was saying before... If its so damn dark that the fibers don't work (based on only research, I really do want to hear your opinion) I wouldn't be able to identify my target.

fwiw - inside the house I pepper night lights all over the place. It makes life a little more easy for day-to-day living and in an HD situation the light they cast would be VERY nice. $20 can set you up! :)

well, when I said no light, in reality...in low light even they aren't very helpful, I feel I could make a positive ID in low enough light but not be able to see the sights. I will snap a couple pics tonight. But in that glock talk thread you can see that the night sights rock! I am lusting for a set so bad it hurts.

All my carry guns are police trades, most have trijicon and Im not sure what the USP9 has but it must have been replaced shortly before they replaced the guns cause Ive owned it for 4 years and its still like new.

True, but you have to use some common sense.  For me, there is no one in my house but me ...so if I see a silhouette of a grown person in the middle of the night it is certainly no one who is welcome

true and with castle doctrine you could likely put down any person in your domicile legally. That said I'm not really wanting to go through all of the post shooting red tape unless absolutely necessary.

The night sights though are for more than home defense, night time includes every day carry. Therefore the night sights are going to stand out in any self defense situation after sunset, and make the transition from point shooting too an aimed position easier, and any benefit to me at this is desirable.

  9. Well then that's really fast. I'm no competitive shooter, although I'd love to and have wanted to for a long time now. I've always wanted to run a 3 gun thing locally on some farm land or something. I think it would be a blast!

Here's an update, I lost my glasses being too fucked up on the river two weeks ago and decided to try my shooting skills without them(been wearing glasses for about 14 years straight now).

I think I did fairly well from a draw, barely able to see, from 10 yards, rapid fire mag dump as if in a self defense scenario, drug hopped up meth head.IMAG0156.jpg
