  1. No! To be honest removing this handguard shouldn't be a two day project. What you hear rattling around is the threaded nut that the sling swivel bolt threads into. It sits flush inside the bottom of the handguard.   If you are saying that you didn't remove the bolt that holds the sling swivel then it must have been lost sometime. There's one through that hole as well as a flat one thought the receiver and handguard where they meet. If both are not present Just grab it and yank forward away from the receiver. If you are being really dainty stick something between the handguard and the base of the receiver and pry or knock it lose.

It could actually be melted or fused on if you have never taken it off in 20 years and have done any mag dumps or lots of rapid fire. Or even just several long range trips heating the barrel and handguard. I've had them require some force after the plastic heated and stuck. Just yank it! Or beat it off with a hammer laugh.png take a punch to the flat side at the receiver and give it a few solid smacks switching sides.

  2. If its that bad you need to move.  just sayin.

where I live it is a crime to shoot someone breaking into your house.

Thats right, if a robber is inside my house and I shoot him, I go to jail.

If I shoot and kill him, I'm charged with murder.

No castle law or stand your ground laws here.

What state are you located in, so I know where to stay the hell away from.

There are always two handguns within reach, our EDCs, my wife's and mine.

Sometimes there is a rifle or shotgun out, mainly at night.

I'll wait for reply before I take count and believe it, coming from the guy trusting that the s12 can't shoot 3"shells, he may be a bit gullible.

If its that bad you need to move.  just sayin.

Similar logic thrown in the face of many people that carry a handgun daily. If your town is that bad move bs.

I just keep my edc on from wake until bed. Or bathroom counter while busy with shower, toilet. It's comfy, and I'm damn used to it by now

  3. From the factory there are two screw's that holds the handguard in place. One at the very rear of the handguard on the bottom of the receiver. The other as you noticed is holding the sling swivel in place.

Make sure you don't lose the sling m mount. They are usually pretty tightly crammed into the receiver so some force is needed. Maybe a flathead to pry it or a punch with hammer, or just grip it strong hand and yank the hell out of it forward towards the muzzle it will come off.

For the gas tube, not gas block, the lever you have up has a plane that at a certain position is flat allowing the rear of the tube to raise. As posted pull or pry it off.

  4. Absolutely not.... It's just intimidation. It's so easy I did several in my apartment kitchen without a vice and with basic hand tools. Even without shooting first.  Takes about an hour your first try. The chatroom here can provide live assistance and I started that way. No one here is trying to be mean about it. It's just night and day difference and you will be absolutely pleased and very proud of yourself afterwards. Be sure to thank us when you remember this day :)

  5. Chile,

Tell your boss to prepare to have his auto insurance cancelled and be thrown into a high risk pool with ridiculous rates for 2 or 3 years.  If he  hires an attorney he can probably get a restricted license to go to and from work if the judge suspends his license for 6 months.  As stated above a taxi is a drop in the bucket compared to DUI costs.  The moral of the story is don't drink and drive.  It ain't worth what can happen.

He wasn't driving! That's the kicker of that moral...

  6. Beefcake. Sounds like you got it right, I edited the above to clear that up.

I actually removed a fair amount from the rear lug on production.. This is a little maddening.. I'll have more removed next go around.

I'm understanding why the factory uses such a small contact point. It makes fitting easy, even if its weaker its simple to fit.

I didn't notice much difference from the test mags lug, the production model certainly seems almost the same size. But compared to the factory 5s they have such huge lugs, factory is so tiny!

Seems logical to me that you should leave it as is or only remove a little on production as it also seems like many people have less to remove. I'd be interested to see other peoples latch for comparison, as well as how much everyone has to remove for a comfy lock. first fitting gets a lock but requires some force so of course I cleaned it up a bunch for an easy quick yet solid lock... Hate to struggle for a lock but still like it tight. 100s of insertions do make it feel much more easy fit.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it imo, unless most will need and dislike necessary filing.

  7. No one without the clear intent of operating a motor vehicle should ever be arrested for this situation. At the risk of sounding like a cop basher, it takes a shitty one to ever enforce this bullshit law.

I  mean it flies in the face of reason and obviously isn't the intent of the law. This is just rrevenue generation and a way to ruin a man's life. Hopefully with decent representation he can beat the rap!

They need to make it an intent law.
    Less fines, no "points"

If you are not in "drive" and its first offense you get an "intent" ticket, this would include fines and proper education on all fifty states DUI and "intent" laws. I know on New Years there were tow companies offering free rides for you AND your car home back near the mil base in Florida.
I'd take a parking ticket any day, a bus, a taxi, anything but a DUI

Screw that! If it's not in drive you aren't driving thus no dui! that's horsefeathers!
