  1. The Bolt Hold Open is a great feature to have, why remove it. A lot of ranges want the Bolt open for inspection once the line is called cold, plus its a lot easier to load with the Bolt open. I had the same problem with my BHO jamming my carrier when I did my conversion, but I fixed the problem. The problem why the BHO jams the carrier is because of the play between the Hammer and the BHO, all you have to do is find a Washer that takes up the side to side play between the BHO, and the Hammer, one side of the Washer might have to be grinded flat to sit on the bottom of the receiver but it works. Pic attached of my modified BHO Lever for my Saiga Bullpup Rifle, I am thinking up of something for my S12.

  2. all i can say is why?

unless your in the military or law enforcement and use a saiga i cant see spending that kind of money and buying the mags to fill it just to run around your backyard playing solidier.

For some, it is their backyard soldier/ survivalist fantasy or whatever. Others want to do competition and need a way to carry their gear within easy reach for speed. Many many others get overexcited by our cool platform and buy anything remotely connected to it.

I've considered one for the second and a bit of the third reason.

Call me paranoid, but just in case shit goes down I have everything organized and ready to go. I am glad I did not have to buy this rig, I used stuff around my house to put this together. This way I can spend my money on two more rigs.

  3. Yep, definitely the extractor.

It may not be shaped properly and thus not engaging the rim fully and resulting in such.

I believe that a couple of the Business Members that shape/polish bolts, also tune the extractor.

Chile, you beat me to it. I was just about to say the extractor needs to be tuned, looks like its not seating all the way.

  4. They were the ones selling the AOW pistol with OEM parts, and a hex rail so you can mount 3 scopes on top of your pistol shotgun. Oh and also, full length gas system.

Yeah, I noticed that full length gas system. That was a big Flag for me. I was looking beyond the eye candy.

  5. Paul thanks for opening the eyes of S12 owners. Everything on this platform works as a team, as you said you cant just go " drilling umpteen ports " it takes more than gas to run this platform the right way.

  6. I made my own chest rig. I attached three barcode scanner pouches together, and rigged my harness. Holds six S12 stick mags, and 6 Pistol Mags. Will probably attach a pouch to hold my 20 round Drum on the right side. I can either attach the bottom to my Pant Belt using side release delrin buckles, or use another belt through the back of the rig to go around my waist.

  8. My 12 inch would not cycle wally bulk pack, even with the MD V plug. With 00 Buck I had to shoulder the gun tight to cycle. After Jack worked my Gun over, I can now shoot this thing from the hip, and one handed with no FTE, or FTF, its now 100% reliable, and runs cleaner than ever.

  9. Sumsky you are one crafty iindividual. I still need to add rope lighting to the interior of my cabinet. Any pointers on what you used to install the door switch for the lights?

The LED's and Door Switch was trash I scavanged from equipment I repair. The Door switch is a refrigerator type switch thats mounted into a metal L Bracket, which I bolted to the inside of the cabinet. I will PM you a pic this weekend. The Transformer thats running each of the two Green LED's is Model AC120-0350-1, PRI: 100-240Va. c. 120mA, 50/60HZ, SEC: MAX. 12Vd. c., 35mA, Constant Current 350mA, Made by i2Systems

  10. Sums, don't get your panties in a twist, lol.

As most AK blow outs seem to result in the bolt carrier and cover popping up from the front, your rail would inhibit that. If you don't make it part of the commercial kit, simply recommending it or similiar should cover you in court. Hel, it would be more than the Kpup does save for their plastic cover that has to be removed(looks to be no quick task) to get into the receiver. And significantly more than the KVar kit..

Hel, I've shot the shit outa my S12 with just the KVar plastic cover rivited to the receiver cover. No probs, but the plastic was nice as a cheek rest and helped against heat build up. I started out with a steel, QD cover but it was alot of unneccasary weight. I'll likely go with an aluminum QD cover mostly to facilitate a forward chargeing handle.

Every kit has it's own merits. Some are entry level and some, not so much. I'm trying to go for an actual conversion covering most of the bases, many of what some of the others don't. Like a top rail and other additional mods as they're developed. A little hands on skill will be required, but the pay off should be a bit higher. It'll ultimately come down to individuality. Thankfully there are finally several of us trying to put out kits so the choices will be greater for everyone.

My next question is, have you been thinking of how to mass produce it?

My Kit also will take a bit of DYI knowledge and hand Tool aptitude. Its not one of those Snap Tite Models for beginners, if I ever get it to production. I dream at nights about how to mass produce it, and wake up with a Head ache. The molds are going to cost some cash. that would be the best way to do the kit. If I tried making one kit at a time by hand you would be able to buy a Gun for the price I charge for one kit, not worth it for the consumer, and too time consuming for me. So I will just have to come up with the cash to get the molds made. Because of the body contouring on my Kit, and the drop in Trigger Housing I made, the person that tries to build it from scratch would have to know how to Weld, and to do body work on a Car or Boat.

  11. If something is going to blow up, its going to blow up. The idea is to minimalize the potential damage as much as possible. By ignoreing the risk, however slight, esp in a commercial kit, is simply asking for a law suit. A full cover is most likely not necessary. But a tab over the front of the cover is a simple matter whether welded on or integrated into the stock.

It's not about "manning up" its about that little bit of safety that shows you actually give a shit about your potential customers. That is if you still intend to sell this as a kit.

At any rate, it looks really cool. You did a nice job.

This was suggested over at the AK Forum, read below. People, please dont take what I am saying personally, or as an attack against you. Its just my opinion based on the Dust Cover Blow off. With your Face 2 1/2 inches behind the Cover or on top of the cover, you gonna DIE. I do have an idea how I could cover the Dust Cover, and incorperate into my Pup Kit BUT, that would make the kit cost more, if it went on the market, plus I dont think Polimer would protect your Face either. I would just be taking your money for a false sence of safety to keep your GuRLY Face beautiful. So go the cheap route below. SMILE, dont take me seriously. So man up, and QUIT being a GuRLY MAN!

If your concerned about the dust cover blowing off just use a Galil recoil spring assembly. The longer tab will prevent the cover from coming off, problem solved. If it blows off after that you need to buy a different AK ...

I understand what you are saying about the blowing up. But why would you, me, or any other Kit builder be responsible for the law suit. Your Kit or my kit or any other kit had nothing to do with the cover blowing off. What people are failing to see here is, you and I are not manufacturing a new Firearm, but a Kit to alter the appearance, and handling. If they are going to sue anyone it should be the factory in Russia.

Hey, love your S12 Kit also. Way better than the one that just started shipping, after years of promises.

    Lets all man up!!!! haha.gif
