  1. I was thinking of having WMD (Weapon of Mass Destruction) put in the fire position. Since the AK is responsible for more casualty's than the A-bomb and nukes. I had expected backlash for wanting to do this, from you guy's! Based on posting's on other sites where I get crusified for questions like this. He usually does AR's I will let you know what he charges for AK's if he will do it. Thanks Guys
  2. I found a local guy doing custom CNC engraving on AR recievers affordably. You know the stuff like SHTF or Zombie mode for the selector. Can a Stamped Saiga 7.62x39 receiver be reliable after being engraved with a few letters or words in front of the saftey lever. If it would compromise reliability I would not do it, what is your guy's opinions? It's completely un-needed, and normaly I don't go for it. How would it effect the reciever? Thanks, Tony
  3. What do the Bulgarian 10 mag's or are they circle 10 mag's look like? When I bought the Bulgarian "bullet" mag's I thought I was buying the 10's. I think I will pickup a few more steel mag's and file till all the steel mags fit good enough. Thanks, Tony
  4. I have converted my Sagia 7.62x39 rifle to pistol grip and have done the bullet guide. I have collected a few AK mag's and I'am confused as to what mag I should use to file the mag catch to fit? I have a Tapco plastic mag, a couple plastic Bulgarian "bullet mags", and a couple of random steel mag's could not tell you where they are from. Is there a partictular mag I should use to file my mag catch to fit, and then file the other mag's I have to fit my gun? Any help would be appricated. Thanks, Tony
  5. Then it sounds like I have a warsaw length stock. The site I got it from did not list the length of this stock, it only called it a original AK style stock. I'm a big guy so I'll probably pick up a NATO length stock for it later. Just a heads up to other newbies make sure you check the length of the stock you are purchising. I screwed up on this, but it was still an easy conversion and I'm very happy with it. Thanks for the info, Tony
  6. I just did my first saiga rifle conversion, and it was way easier than I had thought it would be. However the butt stock seems short, I was supposed to get a NATO length stock at 10.5". I was wanting to know if the length of the butt stock is measured from end to end, or from the reciever to the end of the stock? From end to end my stock measures about 10 1/2", but from reciever to the end of the stock is only 9 1/4". How are they measured? Thanks, Tony
  7. I have never owned a AK. I just recieved my first saiga 7.62x39 rifle. Part of me likes it how it is, the other part likes the look of an AK. I plan to use it in stock form first, mine came used. How should the factory sights be used? I'm unfamilar with this style sight. Do I just center and level the front post in the rear sight. Or do the curved prongs on the front sight need to be leveled regardless of the post with the rear sight? This may sound stupid but I have never had these curved front post sides. Do they make any difference or not, or is it just the post that matter's? Tell me how
  8. I just picked up my first Saiga to convert, it's also my first AK type rifle. I'm no gun smith but am a mechanic, will my rifle barrel have threads or will I need to run a dye over it? What is the size and thread pitch? I have access to alot of random size dye's and the tool guy's can get me about anything I might need so I was wanting to know what is the size and thread pitch needed for a muzzle brake? I did a search but it was unclear which I might need or have. Also what is the best way to remove the piece on the end of the barrel that covers the threads if there are any? Thanks, Tony
  9. I'm new to these rifles, my first saiga in 7.62x39 is being shipped to me now. I was pricing some ammo for it and some of the cheaper stuff I have found is Brown Bear steel case in FMJ and HP. For the same price you can get FMJ or HP in Lacquer or Polymer coating, givin the choice at the same price which would you go with on coatings and will hollow point ammo run fine in a Saiga or does this vary rifle to rifle? My limited experience with AK's is they will run about any ammo, is this still true with the Saiga's, is there any ammo that should be avoided? Thanks, Tony
