  1. The site says "Note: Hardware (pins, springs, etc..) are not included. Parts are only pressed on, not drilled and pinned. ", Any idea how much extra $ and work that note will require??
  2. CTfam - yeah i'm definitely all about the C4L! RP actually just came to phoenix in December so it was awesome to meet him and adam kokesh as well. OK - I've done it! I've made up my decision: GET BOTH and then decide. I can read every review or post ever written about both guns but until I shoot a few hundred rounds through both I won't know which is right for me. So I'm gonna get the CZ58 and then the SGL31 so I can also shoot the cheaper 5.45.
  3. If any of you have seen nutnfancy's 30 minute interview with the arsenal rep at shot show then you probably loved the folding stock they demonstrated on the Bulgarian SL106/7 (if you havent checked it out, look it up on you tube, it's a very good look at these guns). I want to go Saiga not Bulgy but that US manufacture stock is not an option for the Saiga models. Does anyone have any info on weather the SL106/7 folding stocks would work/be easy to install on the SGL31/21?? They use a button release and locking system so I am wondering if the receivers have some mods also on the Bulgarian
  4. CTfam you just threw me a huge curveball! I had never heard of the VZ58 but after reading up on it and finding nothing but stellar reviews I'm giving you a big +1, and then a +100 for your support of the RP R3VOLUTION!
  5. The SLR107s are Bulgarian manufacture, you're advocating I not buy a SAIGA!!!!! Although I do like them since it saves me the trouble of buying and installing a folding stock. But can anyone atest to the quality/state of the receiver/barrel? Plus then how would it compare to the $450 AK74s at atlantic?
  6. Keep in mind, that all the cheap-ass surplus ammo is corrosive and will require you to take special care of your gun. You will have to wash out the barrel and the gas tube with Windex or water, in order to dissolve the corrosive salts as soon as possible after shooting the gun and then dry them using clean patches. Another thing to keep in mind, is the fact that the supply of surplus 5.45x39 mm may eventually dry out. That cartridge wasn't and isn't adapted nearly as extensively as the 7.62x39 mm was. Pretty much only the USSR and some of the Warsaw Pact ever adapted it. None of the other
  7. Yeah, I don't want to start a 5.45 vs 7.62 war on here but to each his own. I realize that if I go with 545 i'm going to give up the brute power of the 762 for some increased accuracy, lesser recoil, and cheapness of ammo.
  8. Well that just about seals the deal for me! The only issue now is that I started to entertain the 5.45! I mean .14cents a round is hard to beat and although the gun is $80 more expensive and mags a bit more as well, but the ammo savings are very real. I would probably take the muzzle break off and put on a flash hider, I've never shot 5.45 but I can't imagine it needs the reduced recoil?
  9. That is a fine looking weapon, pretty close to what I have in mind for mine. Quick question: If i buy an SGL then if i wanted to swap PGs or stocks in the future that would be super simple right since the holes are already drilled? Also, does anyone know if the SGL's come with a bullet guide installed? Thanks
  10. That's a nice set up SpetsnazGRU, you've got it set up for co witness right?
  11. I spent all day at work looking through the 36 pages of the pictures thread (i still managed to do an hour's worth of actual work) and here is how I envision my Saiga: -Pistol Grip & Folding Stock -Tri Forearm Rail w/ forward grip and flashlight -optics mounted to the left side of the receiver Now, I've read about the trigger system needing to be replaced but I havent made sense of it yet. From some posts it seems you just buy a US made trigger system and drop it in, but then i see youtube vids of ppl taking their triggers apart so I'm a bit confused there. The 2 biggest t
  12. Damn, and i thought i had it all figured out! Hrmm, if i buy one can i still post on this forum!!!!??? aahaha
  13. Wow, that is a great idea! Does the SGL21 use proprietary Saiga parts or will most AK parts work as well? Also, I think what you are saying is that they are already 922r compliant correct?
  14. Yes, based on my evaluation I think you are right to say I dismissed it too easily but the price tag had a lot to do with it!
  15. Hey everybody. I'm excited to join the world of Saiga and begin contributing to this forum. My story: For various reasons, the need to own a capable SHTF rifle has been growing heavier on my mind. Being a good American, I instantly thought: "I need an AR-15". So i researched the different manufacturers, fondled some at the gun show, and almost bought a Stag Arms Model 1. I don't want to start a war here but the bottom line is, I've come to the conclusion that the AR-15 is not reliable enough for my needs, period. Here is a good read: http://madogre.com/interviews/Hate_the_AR15.htm
