dont be mad me adding this since i'm not buying....
the polish mosins are some of the best, i hear the finns are all thats better....
i highly recommend any mosin with the circle 11 stamp

sometimes the trigger hole is tight....work it without having i cocked and see if its catching i had to "loosen" both my 12 and my 7.62 to let the trigger move "freely"
-
indy, i drove armored trucks for over 5 years, and one day i accidentally kicked out the front windshield of one of the trucks....anyways most of it is level 3.....so it shouldn't be able to take 30-06....but that level 3 glass is better than the rest of the truck i guarantee.....
also look at pics of the brinks truck robbery and you will see the glass didn't really stand up to sprays of ak fire...

just zero it to hit 1/4 inch to the side that the scope sits on, get your elevation right, and remember its 1/4 to the side....
kinda like a crimson trace grip for a pistol, dont make the dot sit where the bullet hits at a certain distance, so it aims strait and your bullet hits like 1/2 inch over and ~1 inch up....so it will stay right and your bullet wont cross it at some point and go to the other side of the dot

i dont know about yall but my house doesn't have concrete walls, uncovered floors, and metal exposed roofing....
how about a basement, garage or carport??
lol.....actually i have none of those
that will come soon, but i just bought my first house, and its just that land and a house....dont even have a porch yet
but where do most home defense shooting happen? i would think if your lucky enuf to be ready when a home invasion comes......
all the house shootings i've personally known about happened.....in the living room(or kitchen in one case, buckshot will ricochet off of pine board at point blank range at 45 degrees)
edit to add: if your having a shootout in your basement.......damn

from what i understand the front window is the only problem, if you have a fancy back window it might too....
but i think box o truth said a .22 lost no velocity going thru both side windows
The laws of physics say otherwise.
The projectile has to deposit energy into the glass to cause it to break; that energy deposit might only deform the projectile minimally, but it will definitely result in at least marginally reduced velocity.
What about the door window glass?
Utterly inconsequential ballistically.
Anything will shatter it without causing any bullet damage, even a .22.
To demonstrate the difference here, a 60 grain .22 LR fired from inside the vehicle won't even penetrate the windshield.
That same round can pass through BOTH side windows without even slowing down.
^^^
that is a quote from the box of truth web page, it was what they said, i just repeated it.....
and i kind of believe those old bastards

i forgot to add.....
when you shoot at an indoor range, or covered range you have to think about the stuff around you....
i dont know about yall but my house doesn't have concrete walls, uncovered floors, and metal exposed roofing....
on the cieling they call it acoustic texture for a reason, anything soft in the room(couch, bed, or carpet) will eat sound....
years ago i played db drag, i was in street b class running 2 12's and 1 amp, my bronco 2 did 147db on the dash(50hz)
if you took the same setup and put it in an extreme class car(no carpet, inside panels made of thick mdf, bulletproof glass) it would be louder automatically(would peak at dif frequency tho)
so what i'm trying to say is this.....
you CAN NOT compare shooting at a indoor range(or outside covered by metal) to shooting in your living room, they acoustics are very very different.....if someone disagrees pm me, i'll let my wife tell you how loud a 10mm is in the bedroom(on the range its almost as loud as a rifle), you can almost sleep thru the sound, but not the smell......

damn and i thought my 6 incher was short.......
-
looks good, being left eye dominant i get to use the ak in its factory configuration and get the same benefits as a normal shooter doing this...it works better having the charging handle pointing in....
-
even though i dont think it will help the argument i'll add my .02
i have built several ak's owned a few saigas, and have a decent midlength ar-15
my ar i built on a tactical innovations lower it has a wilson non chrome lined barrel.....
my aks were military guns(mainly i'll be talking about a remade polish underfolder) except for the saiga.....
my ar is accurate, much more so than me.....i run cheap 55gr loads, and while i havn't been people shooting with it, coyotes drop dead when they get "touched".....it will put holes thru holes.....
if i shoot my ar fast at say a 1/3 scale idpa target at 100 yards it will at least be hitting the paper(if i'm blasting) if i'm careful or prone(or sitting) it scores body hits no problem.....say with me prone, no bags just me prone i can get like 4 inches...make that 100 into 50 and it drops to like an inch
my polish gun can keep it in the chest of a full size idpa target at 100 yards shooting quick, if i play more careful they still stay on the chest, or maybe the head(according to what i'm trying to hit my eyes are bad) ...again a prone me can get 4-6 inches no rest just me....
my saiga shoots better than my polish gun, but still puts rounds in the target where i try and aim(100 yards idpa)....again drop the 100 to 50 and it drops to like 2 inches
the aks run wolf, or whatevers cheap, the ar runs the same...whatevers cheap....
my middy has been shot side by side with a dpms m4gery(red dot), a rock river m4gery(irons)...it is better i give this to the extra inches of sight radius.....
but now what i want people to do is sit a 7.62x39 next to a 5.56x45 and look at the difference in bullet size.....the 30 is way bigger, more than double...
but as far as effectiveness pull a bullet from each, stand a few yards away from a good buddy and let him throw them both at you(equally hard) can you tell that one hurts more?....you probably cant tell....
they are both good rifles....i dont see why the m4 was the size to go with, the middy (9inch gas system with 16 inch barrel) seems like the way to go....
the sights are different on my ar than my ak and i think most americans shoot ghost rings better....
but back to the point...if you read nothing from my post read these 3 things i'm about to say
1.
if you dont think an ar is effective past 300 yards, then let someone shoot you with one at 600......i bet you wont...
if you dont think the ak can hit shit at 300 yards, then walk 700 yards downrange and let someone shoot at you with one....
i bet you change your fucking mind on both counts.....
2.
if a 55 grain bullet doesn't tumble past a certain distance it doesn't take the gunshot wound out of the picture.....
if an ak bullet hits you after it has "dropped" 10 feet you still got hit with over 120grains of bullet.....
you still have a gunshot wound...
3.
if you take a rod(spear maybe? however you want to think about it) thats .22 inches wide and stab someone with it(run them thru) and then take another rod that is .30 and stab the same guy will he be able to tell the difference in the .08 of an inch????
answer me that...(this is what my friend will uses for the 9vs40vs45 argument)
-
10mm in the xtp 200 grain variety is pleasant indoors...........more like a pop than the big boom
9mm and 40 from a g17 and a g22 arent too bad in the car.....
the window was down because obviously i had to shoot at something.....but only driver window down halfway
-
yes they are they same
-
why not for the cost of a class you get a belt, a shirt, a hat, a xd, mags, holster, and peace of mind........
all funded by the owners mustache......
lol....seriously i dont know anything about front sight.......
-
+1 on the dinzag break....makes the s12 look mean, adds length but looks good......in your case it wont add to the oal it will just be included
-
i guess you heard about the "class b"
the tabaco is chopped up and turned into "paper" then treated and shredded.....thats why it all looks so uniform, watched a pretty good how its made the other day
-
maybe he cut the pgrip hole too big?
-
i was thinking they should have plenty of 20 inchers around.....
-
when you get up and running again(hopefully soon for your sake ) i would like to get a fsb and zig zag break if you have any of the black ones avail.
-
i thought i already said but.....
while i love my 1911's...
i too drank glockaid..
g17 is what i tote
-
i guess i might have been foolish thinking about the 10rd and 12 rd as equal....
that 40 rd spring i had was like 3 almost 4x as long as my agp(mag) little longer than the spring
i would say you could cut it down(the mag)?
but please dont stretch the spring it might help you a little(for a few times) but then your spring is f'ed
-
yes
-
the 4pos ar stock on my 12 does about the same thing..not a whole lotta surface area to spread out the blow.....i like it my friends complain...but luckily its mine
-
i used the "sheik" method and made my bg out of a pipe nipple...its even with the edge of the (front)trunion works with all mags i have tried...polish metal and plastic, bulgy plastic, metal of all sorts(30's) a couple 40's, and my factory 10rd mag...... might be something to look at or into....if it sticks out too far maybe shorten it a little....
I guess my spinner target needs to be thicker

yeah i had a buddy get happy on my 1/2 size idpa silhouettes i been welding all day.....
they dont joke when they say pistol is pistol, and rifle is rifle......
i have a huge chuck of i beam i use for the rifles, it doesn't go thru but it sure messes it up good......
