  2. Hello Saigaland, It's time to roll your eyes about another newbie question. I just picked up my new 7.62 from gun jail in the People's Democratic Republic of Kaliforniastan. Now what? I want to properly prepare this rifle for a long and happy life. I have the accompanying cleaning kit, however, the g-store had the following cleaning kits: OTIS Tactical Cleaning System for $40, Tetra Value Pro II Cleaning Kit $15, Gunslick Pro Master Cleaning Kit-$20, and Remington Fast Snap Universal Rifle Cleaning Kit for $17. Any suggestions on initial cleaning, preparation, and maintenance would be
  3. Howdy Folks! Just picked up my Saiga 7.62 x 39 from gun jail in the great People's Republic of Kali. Being a responsible sort, I want to secure this rifle. What is the best way to lock this rifle? I have my regular pistol locks and I am wondering if this is the best way? Can't wait to try this baby out in the desert soon. Cheers.
  4. I am picking up my Saiga 7.62x39 next week; however, a sling is not included. What do you recommend for a stock rifle? A shout out for all of your assistance.
  5. I am looking for SAIGA 7.62x39 10-round factory magazines as well as other companies ie surefire, etc. Let me know your price with shipping. I like to use m.o.'s. Work is a little busy, I will get back to everybody--patience please! Thanks.
  6. Everybody, thanks for the great advice. This rifle is intended for self-defense first, hunting second. Eventually I want to convert it; I have seen so many great conversions jobs on this forum, so many ideas--so little time. I hope to be hitting the desert/outdoor range in a few weeks.
  7. Keep all of those tips coming in! My Saiga is in gun jail for another week; another joy of living in the PRK. I am going to hold off on any conversion projects for a while since I am limited to 10-round magazines. I will be giving this rifle a workout soon. San Diego's back country is being overrun by feral pigs, and somebody has to step in and save the place!
  8. Howdy all. I just picked up a 7.62x39. I plan to mostly use iron sights because I wear glasses, and I have eye relief issues with many scopes. Any way to improve the iron sights? (i.e. fiber optic beads, etc) Can anyone recommend a red dot scope? Thanks!
