^ That sucks.
Honestly though, man, when you get into Saigas, you have to be willing to write off the cost of some parts as you "evolve" in your tastes.
That said, all of my "extra" parts are servicable, and not damaged as your ACE pushbutton folding mech is, just from regular use.
It's unfortunate that you'd have to pay shipping, but at least they will replace the part if you do. What alternative folding stock could you get that would have a better warranty?
The ACE Ultra-Lite stock I mentioned in my earlier posts to this thread has been fucked by heavy 12-ga recoil over time, so I replaced it with a DPH skeleton stock, which is rock-solid.
Thanks Bro,
I bumped this old thread because it pulls up on Google. I want people to make sure they know the options (or lack there of) prior to cutting the tang off.

This is more of an FYI for people contemplating cutting off their tang.
Cut the tang off my Saiga 7.62 in the hopes of using an ACE sidefolder setup which I heard was rock solid.
I bought the Ace A500PB with the pushbutton. Almost $100 from Midway. As soon as I got it, I thought it was a tiny bit sloppy, but thought it a compromise since it was a folder.
The design looked flawed and had an adjustment screw that corrected the slop.
Well, over time it appears that the hardened set screw has warn it's way ..056" of the way deep into the other side of the folder. I keep adjusting it, but now the stock is 20 degrees off when the stock is in the shouldered position. I'm disappointed, but knowing that it's a US gun part, the manufacturer will stand by it.
So I email Ace last Wednesday. I include a model number and Tim's secretary emails me back the following day asking me some qualifying questions about the folder. I answer her questions within minutes of receiving the email, but don't get a response until the next day. Once again I get an email from Tiffany stating that the model is defective and they have a newer version. She doesn't tell me if they will replace it or anything else. That response was Thursday. I emailed her back immediately asking if they would replace it and no email as of yet.
First couple of posters were right, Tim (boss) was out of town. Man, I'm really impatient .
Kind of disappointed in the part and even more disappointed that is has been 3 business days of correspondence and I don't know if they cover it or not. I almost feel like returning it to Midway, even though I bought it a year ago. I might want to have the tang re-welded back on. I don't want to deal with this crap anymore.
I want to vent to you guys and set up some info on the web for other guys before they cut off their tang to put on one of the few options out there for a sidefolder.
I'll keep you posted if they rectify the situation.
**************** UPDATE ***************************
Email from Tiffany to me:
"Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately with it being a year and a half since you purchased the folding stock mechanism we will not be able pay for the shipping to us or the shipping back to you. In most cases if it has been over 30 days since you purchased the product we will not exchange it, unless it is a warranty issue. The mailing address you will need to send the FSM-PB to is"
I think that this is absolute garbage. This piece of crap was $100 bucks and now I have to spend $15 to get a new one, that'll probably be a piece of crap after a year, too.
I'm going to send it back to Midway for credit on my account. Unbelievable.
Wow you bump a 3 year old thread to repost your negative feedback.
Pulled up on Google. I want people to know before they make my mistake.
I already returned to Midway for credit

I'm NOT impressed with my Ace PUSHbutton sidefolder. In the process of seeing if Tim from Ace is going to clear it up. So far 5 days, 5 emails about the problem, and still not word as to whether or not he will fix it.
-
I don't think the supply is going to be drying up. They'll start running low again and go for $329. Next round they'll be $250 again.
-
It isn't that off when there isn't a flash. I kind of like it slightly different shades. The reason for the FDE is to break up the black and camouflage the rifle. Slightly different shades break it up and give it character.
I don't have a scale, but it isn't that bad. It's still easy to shoulder and hold up. If I had a heavier optic it would probably put it over the edge, though.

Will these be back anytime soon?

Any Updates on the AKML?
-
So the good news: some have dimples and the muzzle nut is easily removable.
The bad news- the lower handguard is not held on tight and there is no heat shield.
Still don't know how I feel about these.
You have pics of this?

Sorry sold
Should read the first line better...oh well.
I will take it. Message me details regarding paypal. Wife has the account and will take care of it when you respond.
Thanks.

********** SOLD ******************Up for sale is this Midwest Industries AK mini-mount FOR AIMPOINT MICROS
This is the REVISED mount and has the pinion screw that securely clamps it down on the trunnion.
It has been mounted but shows no signs of wear.
I love it, but I bought 3 of them and decided to only use them on two of my AK's
$65 shipped discreet PP gift or you pay the fee.
I'll also do USPS money order
-
It does not move up and down at all.
You can't remove it quickly. It replaces the rear sight leaf but incorporates iron sights. It's really pretty cool.
How much will the mount move vertically or does stay locked in place tightly?
I like this option much better for a forward mount than an ultimak. Far less heat likely so its safer for the optic and doesn't restrict access to the gas block.
-
how easy is it to remove the dust cover?
I don't know if it holds zero, but it seems to be VERY solid.
There's a gap between the mount and the dust cover, so removing the dustcover without manipulating the mount is not an issue.
-
Very nice rifle. Love the colors. But doean't that rail fubar your irons? Or am I missing something?
No It's an MI rail with MI Mini Dot.
There'a a channel in the rail that allows you to shoot with Irons.
Yo cobravenom,
Im really wondering how the dot sight is attatched to the mount, and how it can be taken off in a pinch. Please post it up, Im sure im not the only one who wants to know.

SO the threads are 24x1mm correct? I'm assuming its non too safe to use the 5.45 brakes on them. Do they make 7.62x39 brakes/flash hiders in 24mm?
I think Dinzag carries them.
Dinzag's is just a paperweight. It doesn't have the correct gas ports and chambers as a really AK-74 Brake
To my knowledge, only KVAR and Krebs have a real one (922 compliant, that is).
-
I dig the new rail but not sure if camera isn't doing the rest of the rifle justice but looks like a few different color desert tans on that rifle.
The camera doesn't do the gun justice.
-
Hey guys,
Just got the revised base and have to say this thing is rock solid. There's now a dowel pin that's held captive by a set screw and it isn't going anywhere.

If it had dimples I'd have another f'ing Saiga.

Problem with Ace Pushbutton Sidefolder, pn A500PB
in Saiga 7.62 X 39
Posted
The last pic shows the folder in the closed position. It looks ok, but when the stock is attached it throws the stock 5 degrees into the shooter. It gets worse as I use it. I've probably had it to the range 3 times and 400 rounds with the folder on there.
