  1. Cobravenom.....it's pretty unlikely you're going to find a converted Saiga with quality parts (homebrew or not) for $450 or under, unless someone is really looking to make a sale. BTW, "looking for deals on GB" is like looking for church girls at a strip club! :lolol:

I'm not disagreeing with you. I will not find a converted Saiga for $450, which is why I will buy one and convert myself and the same guns will be not selling on gunbroker. This doesn't change the fact that $500 is too much for a converted Saiga. It is. Ask yourself the question, "Would I buy a Saiga converted from an individual for $500?" You'd be kidding yourself if you say you would. You would convert one yourself of find an Arsenal for $650.

The sellers dictate the price of a gun. The OP's listing is for $600 and did not sell. Like I stated, Gunbroker is large enough to be indicative of the current state of the market, which means that the OP's gun is not worth $600.

It's nothing to get pissed about. I buy guns and sell guns on gunbroker and on Arfcom, too. The market just isn't what it used to be. Period.

  3. You guys are all joking, right?

You think the reason no one is interested in this gun is because of some jargon and a typo?

Nobody's said it, but I think it's a little pricey. You're starting it out at $600. A month ago you could get a brand new M&P Smith and Wesson OR AR for $599.00 after rebate from CDNN. The market just isn't what it used to be. I look for good deals on GB and I'm kinda sick of seeing the SAME used guns clogging up the listings for months.

You can say what you want about what you have in to it and such, but the bottom line is you're not a reputable builder and the market speaks for itself. The amount of viewers on Gunbroker makes it a microcosm of the current state of the market.

If want honesty, that's it. Drop it a couple hundred and let the market price it. Your title could read, "Rainbow colored Hot Air Balloon," and if it was an appropriately/competitively priced restoration you would have over a dozen watchers.

I'm in the market for another Saiga and though maybe I should buy a converted one. Then I checked the prices for USED ones and they're at least $500+. I would pay about $450 for a home grown conversion with quality parts. That's a current customer in the market talking.

  4. So we've all been watching the prices of Saiga's drop lately. well theyre as low as theyre getting. While i was in the local gun shop the other day the dealers told me everyone is selling out of Saiga's lately and all models are going up by %18 percent in price.

However, i have no legit written down proof of this, but i just ordered a .308 today and Greg from CSS also told me they are going up by 28 bucks. Yeah, $28, no big deal. but anyone else like me that was waiting to see exactly how low they would go is done waiting. Apparently Russia wants more money. If you're going to buy, now's the best time. Just a heads up.

I have to disagree. The prices have gone up on them while most firearms' prices have plummeted. Russia will sell them to us as long as we'll buy them for more than $200. I'll wait it out.

  5. Tapco makes good stuff and they have a lifetime warranty. I stripped the screw on a foregrip (my fault) and they sent me a return label (paid for return shipping) and after they received it they sent me a brand new one! All the correspondence was done via email and they responded very quickly. No receipt, proof of purchase or anything. SUCK IT TAPCO HATERS!

  6. Yeah, Factory config FTL. It's more reliable than both my Wasr and my Tantal. The Saiga is built to better specs than most Century AK's. I don't know if it's more reliable than an SLG (riveted guide and some other tested parts), but it's way better than most US marketed AK's. It's the reason this board exists.

well then i guess i got a vodka special

Never heard of a vodka special rifle. Vodka special refers to factory problems with Saiga shotguns. Is your Saiga converted or in factory configuration?

    its factory config

    There's your problem.

  8. Are you refering to the fsb/gb combo designed by Lenny Bolton? Or are you refering to an item that literally "bolts on" in place of the gb? If it is the later, classy is correct, if you are talking about the former, it's a device many users have on their saigas.

    The Former.

    Does anyone have any pics?

  9. The brass rod is spring loaded which pushes it forward, however it is against the groove in the brake/adapter which keeps it from leaving the socket. On a standard brake, the pin is low enough so that the spring pushes it forward but the tip of the rod butts against the threads and remains captive.

I got it, so if the brake's removed it'll pop out.

    Good job, though.

  10. How come no one has this on their Saiga? It seems like an easy way to get the lower retainer on without having to us a press and the price seems right.

How come no one is using this.

I'm contemplating getting one on my Saiga (installing myself) but would like to hear some feedback or look at some setups. If installed correctly will this thing wiggle loose.

    Thanks

  11.

I just don't know about this method, wouldn't you want to drill through the dimples with the proper sized drill bit to give natches in the barrel for the FSB pins?

Then you dremel off the FSB, and you would be guaranteed to line up the new FSB because using actual pins they would only go thru where the slots are? Am I nuts thinking this?

I like this idea. My question is, are the Bulgarian and the Saiga FSB's the same length? It looks like the Saiga FSB is a little longer... of course I don't have a Bulgy to compare it to, however. What size is the bit to drill through? 3/32?

  12. Please don't pay $400 for a Saiga. The market has dropped substantially on firearms in the last year or so and you'll just perpetuate the higher price.

Saiga's will drop to below $300 in no time. Just wait. If you want a 7.62x39 or 51 they'll be going South soon. If you find a 5.45, snatch it up.
