  1. I have a 19 inch 3 port S12 that has some small cycling issues. I measured the ports with an allen wrench measured with my calipers.they measure just over .068 inches. should i open these up?
  2. well I figured it out! just weak ammo !! thats all. I shot some high brass 1 1/4 oz no 4 bird shot through it today on setting 1 and the last round ejected just fine. thanks
  3. I tried setting 1 on the gas plug. it didn't cycle at all so i know it isn't over gassed. i was doing some searching on the forum and found some guns will not run on 1 oz loads so i will try some heavier shot loads and see what happens. thanks the extractor is sharp
  4. HMMMM I didn't think of that one because of the already weak load so i set it on 2. I will try it on setting 1 and see. Thanks for the advice.
  5. the spent shell is captured in the bolt face as it should be. it is when the shell comes in contact with the ejector that the malfunction occurs. when the shell hits the ejector it just pops forward of the bolt without being lifted up and out of the ejection port. Thanks for helping
  6. Ok I shot my S 12 at some more clays today and it still stovepipes the last round every time. I was looking at the last round and hand cycled the action. I found that the ejector isn't kicking the the shell up and out. the spent shell just pops out from under the extractor and just sits there in the receiver until the bolt comes forward and jams the shell into the chamber. it ejects ok with another round in the mag because the round under the one being extracted pushes up on the spent shell . is this a break in problem or is something need fixed?
  7. oh by the way the gun is a 99 model three port 19 inch bbl unconverted. I have checked and all three ports are open and unobstructed. thanks
  8. sorry about that> I was using the factory five rounder. it always stovepiped the last round
  9. I was shooting my S 12 at some clays this evening. I was shooting Remington game loads 2 3/4 1290 fps 1 oz 6 shot. the gas system set on 2 with factory puck. this gun is not broken in yet. it started out not cycling everytime but was starting to cycle every time when i quit. the problem was it stovepiped every time only on the last shot. why???
  10. ok I fixed it. then later while surfing this site i also found an article written by MD Arms in their section describing the fix just as i did it. i guess i am just lucky.
  11. ok I am totaly new to s12 so take this with a grain of salt. I also have a promag 10. my follower was going to far up and holding the bolt open after the last round,i also fixed this with the boiling water trick but was careful not to take it to far because then the sides of the follower would rub the sides of the mag body slowing down the whole process of lifting the next round on feeding. this s12 is a very fast cycling shotgun and a lot of things have to be right in a fraction of a second to work right. just my 2 cents is it possible that you now have to much friction between the follow
  12. Thanks Sapper and paulyski for your reply. I have checked the gas ports just to see if they are all open but i haven't measured them yet. i will do that and post my results later. but maybe i am thick or something,it still seems to me that the extractor claw isn't grabbing the rim very well because when hand cycling the bolt sometimes the bolt will retract just about one half an inch then let go of the rim. when I fire the gun the gun with high brass the bolt does the same thing. it retracts all the way but some where along the way it loses the rim leaving the spent shell behind then stri
  13. it isn't a gas problem. the gun cycles perfectly. the problem is the extractor claw lets go of the rim during extraction before the empty can hit the ejector.
  14. OK I am a newbie.. I have a new S12 09 model 3 hole gas system. i check the ports and all are open and seem fine. the gun cycles hi brass ok and the cheap wally world low brass just almost cycles. the only problem seems that the extraction is just a little weak.what i mean is it seems that the extractor just can't quite get a real bite on the rim of the spent shell. this doesn't happen all the time but is obvious when hand cycling the bolt. is this a break in thing or do i need to deepen the extractor notch a bit? Thanks

    new guy

I have been lurking and learning! I just bought a saiga 12 19 inch threaded bbl and am in process of working out the bugs. I have one OEM 5 rounder and a 10 promag that came with the gun. it cycles 2.75 00 buck just fine with a FTF once in a while. I know it isn't broken in yet and my goal will be for it to be reliable. Just wanted to thank all of you for all of the info on here it will and has been a great help so far. THANKS
