    Thanks High Plains Drifter

Do you know if anyone sells the barrel seperately?

What am I missing here?  Buy any Vepr-12, pay for the stamp, and chop it to the desired length.

I have but don't want two guns.  Just two barrels.

I know that they make pneumatic and spring stocks for shotguns to reduce recoil and was interested in getting one for a Vepr.

I came across this web page.  http://www.alloutdoor.com/2013/10/10/managing-recoil/ and showed it to my local shop and they said that pneumatic pistion is no longer avalible.  This one was quite nice since it would accept any AR-15 type sliding stock.

I'm was wondering if anyone know of any other similar type of stock that would fit the Vepr, AK or even an AR-15.  I was told the picture in the link of the Vept has an adapter that will allow AR-15 tubes to fit on it's tangs.

Also, if anyone has any personal experience with either the spring or pneumatic on their Saiga or Vepr, I'd like to hear your feedback on them.

Any advice on butt stock will also be appreciated.

    Thanks

  3. Thanks for the info Gents.  I know those tactical sights like the one I showed are okay for guns will little recoil but I had my suspision that they wouldn't hold up to heavy recoil.  My preference is for the screen style dot sights like the Sightmark because it allows for better visibility at close range.  It looks like I'll have to drop some money on something high end that can withstand the punishment like a C-More, Burris Fast Fire or Leopold Delta Point.  If anyone knows of something similar that less expensive, please let me know.

    Thanks

  4. Thanks guys

I have a better understanding now.  So what you're saying is that any AK stock will slide on to the Vepr stock receiver attactchment.  Similar to the picture below (the left portion) with some minor modification, correct?

Also, I saw this quad rail by Chaos but they only have it for the Saiga.  Could this be modified to fit the Vepr?

    Thanks

  5. Greetings Gents

I'm interested in a Vepr but the full stock on it seems kind of cheap.  Is there anyone who makes aftermarket stock for them?  Also, it's my understanding that the Vepr is based on the RPK, so I'm assuming any RPK stock will fit on it?

Also, how big of a difference between a Saiga and Vepr fore grips?  I know they are a little different but can a Saiga fore grip be modified to fit a a Vepr and visa versa?

It seems that there are more accessories for the Saiga than the Vepr.  Just wondering how difficult it would be to modify AK or Saiga parts to the Vepr.

Also it seems that most people prefer the Vepr over the Saiga.  Can you explain why?

    Thanks

Thank you for your advice. Especially to Captain Hero. After surfing the forum. It seem that the Vepr is the way to go. The 1919 was a strong contender mainly because I'm much more familiar and comfortable with the AR platform and the fact that I have almost no experience with an AK. The most important factor though was reliability. The 1919 is still too new to truly determine its reliability. The availability of magazine was also a factor. They seem limited for the 1919 at this time. So between the Saiga and Vepr, there seems to be a bigger preference for the Vepr because of its better reliability.

But if anyone has any additional comments they would like to add. I'm listening.

If you want a 20rd drum, the only choice is Saiga 12.

Not really, as if he has the coin, he can opt for the MaxxRounds 20 rder. But its not cheap by any means.

Its hard to go wrong with either the S12 or V12. But given a choice, Id have to say V12, for the sole fact that it may not need any work to run shit ammo, is already in its intended config, and has a better factory finish with a few tidbits thrown in. I sold my S12 to help fund it, and really dont have any regrets doing so. But Id still have to take an S12 over the 1919.

The S12 will likely need work regardless.

Thanks Captain Hero. This is what I'm looking for. The details. Can you explain more as to what modifications are needed for the Saiga?

By the way, that ass you have for an Avitar is hypnotizing :-)

  8. Greetings Gent

I'm interested in getting a magazine fed shotgun. But I'm having a hard time choosing between the Saiga, Vepr and the Akdal 1919. I've been doing some research on line and I have good knowledge of the 3 and have been able to personally examine the Saiga and Vepr. It seems the Saiga and Vepr are nearly identical with minor difference but obviously the 1919 is a completely different beast.

The biggest issue for me though is I have no experience shooting any of these shotguns. So I hope you can help fill in this gap by sharing your experiences and opinion. What are the pros and cons of each type. I'm particularly interested in the differences between the Saiga/Vepr & the 1919. Last, if you were to get one for yourself, which one would you choose.

    Thanks for your help.

  9. Good afternoon Gents

I came across your forum in search for some AK47 parts and it seem this is the place find an answer to my problem.

What I am looking for is a picatinny/weaver rail that will mount directly to the top of an AK47 receiver cover. I'm mounting this on a custom airsoft AK47 so I don't have to worry about recoil issue. I am aware that there are receiver cover with rails on them but unfortunately they are a bit too short and won't fit. If you gents have any ideas that would help me resolve my problem I would appreciate it very much.

I attached a a picture of my airsoft AK47/74 so you can see what you are working with. I bigger picture can be found here.

I found one item that I think might work. Picatinny Rail for Remington 700 Let me know if it will work or not.

    Thanks
