  1. Ive sent him 3 emails and called twice...no repsonse yet. ...evidently he is really busy. Did I do something wrong by inquiring others opinions on this thread ? All Ive done is stated my opinions in a civil matter.
  2. Did you see something about a recall because of this particular issue? Recalls are very different than warrenty issues. I understand your point, and the differing terminologys involved , but I think it is a fact that many Saiga owners have had their shotguns not work properly due to wrong port sizes, incorrect number of port sizes, or ports improperly aligned under the gas chamber. Evidently these arent rare occurences either. I would imagine if these guns are manufactured in russia or out of the country , that specific country isnt gonna issue a recall when those guns are sold to
  3. I will shoot it later today . I guess if it ejects like it should , then most people on here would not send it out to have the ports fixed . I guess if the holes are 25 % smaller then they should be , that doesnt mean the holes would have more tendency to clog up easier ?
  4. I have had a couple people tell me that the port holes need to be fixed to their proper specs . One person sent me a private email stating it . If the gun has a warranty , I would think reparing the gas ports to " proper specs' would be covered under the warranty. When there is a recall on automobiles for defective parts / manufacturing problems , the manufacturer doesnt just recall the vehicles that are experiencing physical problems from that defective manufacturing , ALL the vehicles are recalled that have the manufacturing defects , even if those vehicles seem to be functioni
  5. But once again, its not just that all 3 ports are undersized, 1 of the ports isnt fully under the gas port chamber . These machining errors are not something to be concerned about , even if the gun ejects with defensive loads ? Does it not make sense that if my gas ports are suppose to be .093 ..but they are only .070 ,that the gas ports would be more likely to get clogged up or cause a malfunction down the road ? I guess im wrong on all my opinions in this matter, since everyone disagrees with me. I will definitely run a few boxes of ammo thru it , but I still think having
  6. Even if I fired 100 rounds thru it and did not experience any jams , the specs of the port holes are suppose to be .093 and all 3 holes are suppose to be properly placed fully under the gas port shell/cover ...correct ? Does it not make sense to use the warranty and have it fixed to factory specs , even if it seems to function with bad or improper machine work from the factory ?
  7. and your one sentence above is what it seems to boil down to for me. the 3 gas ports need to be properly sized and configured......the ports are undersized because I could not even get a .08 wire to sink into the top of them.....and yes , the wire was bent so they should have snagged the hole. I would not want to operate a car that was manufactured incorrectly , and I sure dont want to operate or depend on a firearm that was manufactured incorrectly. This seems like common sense to me , but evidently im in the minority.
  8. Haha...... I just dont like shooting a firearm, when I know ahead of time it hasnt been manufactured properly. But I will take everyones advice and shoot it to see if it ejects properly. I was just assuming that if the gas ports are all to small and misaligned, then they should be repaired. as soon as possible while under warranty. I guess my opinion is not in the majority.
  9. Well can anyone tell me if their Saiga had undersized and off centered gas ports , but the gun still shot perfect and they did not need to get it fixed to proper specs? Im just curious how many people have kept theirs with the improper sized port holes and had reliable performance.
  10. So you're sending it in, and you don't even know for fact that it will FTE? Plenty of 3-holers function just fine (mine included). Also, there's no damage that can occur from you putting rounds through it, even if it does FTE due to not enough gas getting through. My honest recommendation is to first put some rounds through it, before giving up your gun for a month if it's not necessary. Well heres my reasoning on getting it fixed right away. Those 3 holes are supposed to be .093...correct ? so if they are 20 % smaller or more, then we already know it has
  11. I decided to just send the gun in for the warranty repair while its brand new and not been fired. I already know all 3 gas ports are undersized and one of the gas ports is not centered fully under the gas chamber . I figure if the 3 gas ports are suppose to be fully under the gas chamber and sized to .093 , it only makes sense to have those tolerances fixed before shooting it and getting it dirty or risking more damage because of improper ejections. Thanks again for the link . Guess I wll just have to wait another 4 weeks or more before I get to shoot it :{ . The gun show only had t
  12. Thanks for that link , but to be honest, if all it takes is just to redrill the 3 portholes out to .093 using a 3/32 drill bit as long as its easy to get to those holes { or buying a inexpensive aftermarket gas plug } I would rather try that first , instead of mailing the gun out and trusting UPS or Fed Ex :] I was just curious that if the ports are undersized, does that almost always result in jams during ejection or is it possible that the undersized ports will often allow the gun to eject properly. .
  13. Okay, Il try it on setting 1 and if it jams Ill try it on setting 2....if it still jams , then I need to drill out the 3 port holes or purchase your 4 position gunfixer plug ? Sorry for my stupidity on these, im totally new to shotguns. I did alot of reading on this forum in the past 2 days, but theres over 100,000 posts and cant read em all :}
  14. So its possible that it may eject properly , even though the gas ports are undersized ? I wont be using any light load ammo because this is strictly for home self defense and I will keep it on setting 2 at the gas port chamber.
  15. $567 out the door and it has the manual BHO . Got it home and took it apart to clean it . This is a 2009 model and I assumed the 3 gas ports would be the correct size since some people claimed most of the problems with undersized gas ports were in the 2008 model . I assumed wrongly. I just tryed to push a .09 wire thru the 3 holes and the holes are to small to allow it to go thru them. I havent shot the gun yet , should I assume that since the 3 gas ports are not .093 size, that this gun will not eject properly ? I bought 2-3/4" hi speed steel - 1-1/8 oz shot- #2 shot Reming
