  1. "I like the looks of the easy install, but what's with the "For use only by LEO's and military"?????"

Liability afraid pussies like Colt and its refusal to sell "Real" AR's to the general public.

Even if it became available to the general public I would NEVER purchase one from these unpatriotic, treat citizens like a lower level of human than a cop, jerks that they are.

  2. In PA we call them "Amish Assault Rifles" because thats all their religion allows them to use when hunting.

And I think some states excepted lever actions from the list if they held over ten rounds.

Also, check out John Browning attempt to make a full auto lever action if you ever get the chance, he used a flapper over the muzzle to utlize the gases, to work the lever.

You would get ten in the pen for doing that now........

  3. I would think that all components would be similar for either milled or stamped from the chinese themselves.

However, using a tapco rear stock in my recent restoration, I did have to cut some of the stock away where it inserts into the receiver. Also, a First Sons Enterprises top handguard had a real tight fit into the gas tube/hand guard assembly.

The tangs all vary, Norinco different that E german, different than Romanian, but they are close, I had to mill a slight bit on my mak to put a E german side folder on it. basically, lengthening the screw hole on the tang to make it more oblong, rather than round.

If you are looking for original Chinese furniture, expect to pay over 100 for the set, I have seen some going near 150 you may get lucky, but alot of guys want those maks to look original.

Also, one issue I had, that I had not read about elsewhere, was that the safety/selector could not be removed from the gun, I had to remove the hammer and trigger assembly to get it loose, and then, the US Trigger sear, did not have a notch that the chinese one did.

So, I had to file away part of the safety where it engages the US FCG parts just to get it to go on safe.

Expect some hand fitting, but the basic procedure is not that bad.

  4. They were and are built in the same factories as the Chinese Military rifles, by the same prisoners.

Basically, you have a military gun with the exception that it was modified not to shoot fully automatically.

1911, that is without a doubt, the most I have seen a Polytech legend ever draw in an auction, now I wish I never shot mine, although I was smart enough to keep the box, and all the stuff it came with.

MAN, people must really be scared of Frobama, even during the ban, you could get NIB legends for the 12-1300 range.

  5. Take your savings and invest in a US made fire control group, and some US made furniture, it will make the package worth about 700, at least thats what they have been going for on Gunbroker.

I just did mine, and you do have to make some minor mods through the process, but, all in all, it wasn't bad.

    Welcome to the club!

  6. Are the Magwells capable of using stock mags, or do they have to be cut down with a notch added to retain them?

My brother is the three gunner in the family, I don't really find gun competitions my bag, too much competition in the real world, I use mine to help relax me.

He has noted though that guys have slowly been showing up with Saiga's, though I believe it puts them in a higher class, and some are hesitating to shoot with the better members.

Of course, he keeps insisting that I lend him my S12, but, it would end up with the rest of the lent guns with him in Montana, and I wouldn't see it again, anytime soon.

I do think that a key to the long term viability of the Saiga system is to get it "Mainstream", meaning, you get some pro's shooting them, and winning with them.

While it may be a somewhat niche in the market, having non pro's see the Saiga Platform in use, and wanting one, means more demand, more units imported to be sold, etc, insuring more need for mags, stocks, and accessories, which help the entire Saiga industry grow.

It also lends a legitimate "Sporting purpose" argument to the owners as well, since "Plinking" is no longer a sport.

"Please understand, most of your upgrades on weapon systems come either from being under fire in combat or thru competition. "

I do understand, my love is of military weapons, I got my first P38 when I was nine, and moved through German, US, English, Chinese, Russian, and com block as they have become available with the scouring of europe by our importers.

Luckily, I only live about six miles from Dan's sporting goods, and I have been privilidged to be able to get in their and fondle some of the thousands if not millions of firearms he has brought into the US. Hell, I am still kicking myself for not taking a case of 50 bulgarian Makarovs, all brand new, in boxes, with holsters, lanyards, cleaning rods, and two magazines, still packed in the Armory crates, for, get this, 5 grand, 100 bucks each.....if only they could have been an IRA, instead of what I actually invested in......

  7. Yeah, another "Fricked up conversion", SWEET!

Quick and easy, as I just added the Tapco stock to my 410 and it was a breeze, added one of my homespun gas pucks, got my 15 rounders, and I just went to see my friends about doing a run of barrel thread covers for the 12 and 410.

Something very simple, probably just a knurled nut, only for cheap, easy US compliance.

I'll post a FS update when I get a few more made.

Glad to see another member going the easy route, who is proud of it, and aint afraid to say so!

  8. "Thank you. For the purpose it has been designed, it performs extrodinarily well. I need to emphasize the fact, this part was designed with the SAIGA 12 Competition shooter in mind."

    Ahhh, a race gun mod!

Definitely limits the number of people using it, but, it does confine the the users to a group that should have more gun time than off the street, newbie, tards.

    Is it self install?

That would really pin the end user down, because he then is the person doing the modification.

Good luck, and keep thinking, we need more goodies for our AK based variants.

  9. I really have no opinion one way or the other about the function or usefulness.

However, do you feel comfortable producing something that carries that much liability with it?

Duplicating a FCG, while somewhat litigious if something fails, is nothing compared to the direct replacement of the one single component specifically designed to prevent the gun from firing accidentally, there is always the argument that the original safety/selector as manufactured failed, dumping some blame on the actual manufacturer of the firearm.

In other words, some spud shoots himself, or somebody else, accidentally with your safety on the gun, and you have a scumbag trial lawyer suing you for a defective product, even if baseless.

Just putting forth some food for thought, from someone who has been down that road in the manufacturing industry COMPLETELY unrelated to anything firearms related.

  10. Russian Saiga Dragunov Stock, like new, some minor scuffing on the edge of the butt plate, on the top and bottom edges(they are lower, as the butt plate is curved, and take the wear). 70 Dollars shipped.

Trades? Waddaya got? I am looking for a 6 G2 Trigger kits, US made AK slant flash hiders, always can use AR or AK mags as well.

And, of course, feel free to PM me a reasonable offer, especially if you want them all!!!!!

  11. Looking for a complete, preferably, set of AK builders tools, barrel press out jigs, trigger guard rivet jig, trunnion back ups, etc.

With the demise of easily available kits, I hope a few builders out there may want to sell out if they aren't building AK's.

HEY, I will even RENT a set for a month or two, if you don't want to give them up permanently.

AND, I am still willing to have someone "Professional" do the six builds for me if they are interested, already have 6 Nodak Spuds here, so that makes it somewhat easier.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. I bought a Camp Carbine a few years back because it would cycle the cheap 9mm plastic training ammo, that had a small metal tip.

They cost like 2 cents a round in bulk, but most 9mm carbines wouldnt cycle them, except for the camp carbine.

They take stock high cap S&W mags, with no fitting, and even the cheap USA made high caps one I have work fine in it.

I have no experience with the others, but if I sell mine, I have to move all the surplus practice ball I have with it. I think I have close to 5000 rounds of it, even though its only a 7 grain or so bullet, you really don't want to be in front of it for a few yards, I am sure. Great to plink and shoot garden critter with though.

  13. There is never going to be anymore "Bargains" on parts kits.

The importers have bought up just about everything that was actually surplus out there, and they were only available so readily, because the Poles, Bulgarians, etc, are changing over from Soviet to NATO ammo so that they can Join NATO.

Dan's last batches were from AK 74's that never were fired, speedily chopped and sent via Air Freight to beat the barrel ban.

Get them now, they will only get dearer, take that to the bank.
