  1. I had one for quite a while. I had no functional problems with it at all, but found it to be too much trouble to clean after shooting corrosive surplus ammo. For convenience sake, I'd rather have a removable gas tube. For .223 or 7.62x39, I might have a different opinion.

Hmm.. thanks. I hadn't considered the trouble of cleaning it. I can certainly see that as being an issue for me.. shooting up loads of cheap 7n6 is why I bought a 5.45 in the first place.

Not excited about the idea of losing the rear sight for a beryl type rail either. Definately don't want a railed up forearm.. prefer wood furniture.

I guess that leaves a side rail mount..

I have the UTG side rail option right now and its not too bad. However you don't really get a cheek weld at all on the rifle. I bought Jim's ultimak rail and am going to mount my primary arms micro dot gen 7.

  2. like others have said, we bought them all. rolleyes.gif it was probably because of that cheap CAI ak74 that came with 2 or 3 bulgy mags.

you can still find polish 5.45 mags which are said to be compatible with all 74 pattern rifles

tapco mags arent too bad and are about the same price as a bulgarian.

  3. would you mind sharing where you get $15 izzy mags?

Local board has 12 of them for $15 ea. Those the best buy for the ones listed?

    I would say so

i have 2 russian plum 30rnd mags and both of them are trickier to seat in the rifle than the bulgarian circle 21 30 rnd mag or factory mags that i own, however they are cooler looking.

i would buy both the russian mags and bulgarian to see which works better for you.

  4. EEWWWW bullet button :haha:

    and a 10/30 magazine :smoke:

    looks good though, right?

i am still having trouble with the lower handguard pivoting up and down, the nut on the handguard retainer isnt small enough to fit for me to make it go tighter.
