  1. Study these videos. A few weeks ago I didn't know jack shit about conversions let alone saigas, but after reading through these forums and watching these videos about a hundred times I feel like an expert. I'll be doing the conversion monday night after I pick up my 5.45 from the store. Search these forums, the answers are all here. Watch the videos. Peace.:smoke:

  2. I ordered a Saiga 5.45 from Atlantic Firearms, It arrived at a local gun store Monday and I went down to check it out. When I was handling it I noticed on the right side of the reciever there was a square where I thought looked like was maybe a sticker at one point that left behind some residue, but as I looked closer I noticed it was actually some kind of marking etched in to the reciever. When the light hits this spot a certain way it really looks like shit. The guy behind the counter didnt know, he just told me thats the risk you take buying stuff online. I was going to wait until I had pictures to post this ( I have to wait 2 weeks for my background check to clears) but I just noticed in wildmanwilliams topic his gun has the same marking.

Does anyone know what the hell this is? Is it common?

I've seen a few different Saiga's in stores, and my buddy has the .223, but I've never seen this.

  3. I plan on ordering the 5.45 conversion kit from CSS http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-712/SAIGA-RIFLE-TRIGGER-GROUP/Detail

In the video they use some type of retaining spring in place of the plate so I was wondering if the BHO and retainer plate will both fit without any modifications? The guy also mentions maybe having to modify the safety to make it fit, but i didnt really understand what he meant..

    Thanks in advance :smoke:

  4. I say give it a shot man. At first glance I was like hell no I cant do that shit, but after alot of research on the conversion it looks hella easy. My Saiga 5.45 is in the mail as we speak and I will do the conversion the day I get it.

    http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-CONVERSION-KITS-cln-SAIGA-RIFLES/Categories has everything you need.

I'm buying the basic kit for the trigger/trigger guard and a timbersmith stock set. You need to buy a gas tube and lower retainer for the handguards to fit.

    I'm in east hartford..

  5. I live in CT, the assault weapon laws are ridiculous. Besides the long list of banned weapons (which includes the AK-47)the other rule is you cannot have any more then two of these features: detachable magazine, pistol grip, folding/telescoping stock, bayonet lug, threaded barrel, flash suppressor. The pistol grip and detachable magazine puts you right at your limit with the conversion.
