  1. Can't figure out what to do. Went to the range last week with my V-Plug, and she was only firing 2 3/4 buck on setting 5 and sometimes 4. Then I tried some slugs, which primarily ran on 4. It's obvious its undergassed, but RAAC polished her up really nice and checked the ports themselves before sending it back giving me the OK. Now its fully converted. It does have a UTG qaud rail and I saw some posts about problems with FTEs, not sure if it's the cause though. I'm thinking about putting the factory plug back in and using the KA tappet (even though it really won't help with high brass), but I
  2. I'm giving you verbatim what Joey said. With the KA tappet and V-Plug its too much gas going in the chamber, thus resulting with FTEs. I said its over gassed with both in there, but I understand what you're saying because they should be extracting on a much lower setting. Rather it's over or under gassed with the V-Plug and KA Tappet doesn't concern me, because I won't use the two together. Mixing the KA tappet and an after market plug is not a good idea at all. I know for a fact its under-gassed with the V-Plug and factory tappet, and that is what bothers me. But I have three ports, and accor
  3. I hope this thread helps answer some questions, I myself have a few as well. I recently finished my Saiga 12, and needless to say I'm very happy with her. The video link below is of meat a local range. The Saiga includes: - Full pistol grip conversion with CSS conversion kit, all the internals are US made except the stock safety - Tapco T6 retractable butt stock - UTG quad rail - UTG forward grip - UTG flashlight/laser combo (have had no problems with either what so ever) - MD Arms V-Plug - King Armory Gas Tappet - Bolts polished by Russian America
  4. I am having some bad luck. But I called the American Russian Armory. They said they will ship her in next week, polish the bolt, fix the BHO, replace all the springs, and other minor adjustments. He said if the if the Saiga has any trouble firing after the tuning, they'll replace her (I did just buy it last week). So I'm happy.
  5. I now realize I didn't even touch the BOH, I simply just pulled the bolt support back to check the chamber after a magazine dump. Now the metal piece is jamming my bolt support and it will not move.

    Bolt Stuck

I was field stripping my Saiga and accidentally pushed the BOH in now she's stuck! The bolt support won't move! Help!!!!
  7. Yes I do screw the gas plug all the way down then back to 1, and I see what you're saying because sometimes I feel like its too tight. But before this, I decided to take a paper clip and bend her into the gas ports. I gently applied some pressure and they punched through into the barrel, I guess they were not thoroughly drilled. I oiled the rails and hammer, and took her to the range tonight. Not 1 FTE. I shot 2 3/4 Winchester 00 Buck, and she ran through all 50 no problem. Want to once again thank everyone for the help, and happy holidays.
  8. When I said dry I did not mean the rails. The rails I always oil, But I did not oil the hammer. Second of all I cleaned her after my two range visits, so she has not been fired dry. I did not oil the hammer simply because the gunsmith whos also an AK-style weapon expert, told me not to because his devolped too much grit. But I will do this. I have fired slugs with the same result, and I did the paper clip test on the gas ports and they need some readjusting. Guess we'll see what happens. I do know what i'm getting myself into, but above all I appreciate the advice given to me so please don't t
  9. Forgive me, but what ports are you referring to? I plan on visiting the range again sometime soon, but it's just frustrating because its running me $40 every visit and I want to make sure it does not need to be returned. Don't get the impression I'm impatient, I just ship off soon and want to start modifications asap. And with the gas settings, I read from the manufacturer (not doubting your knowledge) that if high brass is shot on 2 and damage occurs, they are no longer responsible. And in no way could I afford to buy her all over again. So I'm just being cautious when I say this, because if
  10. I appreciate your advice, but I will not be firing anything other than birdshot on 2. Your looking for trouble shooting high brass on 2, the hammer will punch the hell out of the rear trunnion block. It will look like someone literally took a hammer to it. But I did take it to the range this morning, and had FTE on all 50 buckshot and few of them stove piped. Went to the ranges gunsmith, who has been dealing with these Saigas for years. He looked at her, and then we both went to the range and I let him shoot two more boxes. After the same results, he shook his head at me, which really let me d
  11. Me too buddy. I'll take it to the range within the next few days, give it a clean, and try some different ammo. I have a feeling it's going to be the same results unfortunately. Is it true it takes a month to send it to Armory? If so I'm going to be very disappointed.
  12. It has 3 gas ports. I was disappointed when they didn't eject. My buddy's Saiga shot bird and buck on 1 flawlessly, right out of the box. I don't understand how these things happen.
  13. Just got back from the range doing my first test run with my S12. Little short on cash and my range only allows buck and slugs, so I opted for the Federal 2 3/4 00 buck. Bought about 6 boxes for $24. On gas setting 1, every shot resulted in FTE, and only one stove piped which concerned me. After a quick switch to 2, they ejected like butter. I only shot 2 on setting 2, because I know that for high brass it should be on 1 and can cause damage. Any suggestions?
  14. I'm so confused anymore. I hear people talk of conversions costing $60 and others say $400. I already have a new gas plug installed, which helps with the low brass. But the pistol grip with the retractable stock is my main goal. What will it honestly cost to have the pistol grip seated properly on the lower receiver. I already paid $500 for the Saiga, and wont spend more than $150 for the conversion. I also read it could done by the owner himself. How's that possible if most of us don't have milling machines? Please help Thanks, Brian/Philadelphia
  15. I know this is probably posted in many other forums, but I need some information on the Saiga 12 conversion. I have a TAPCO T6 collapsible buttstock and an included pistol grip (About $60). Not really fond of the folding stocks, but some are pretty cool. But without the conversion it looks terrible and is unbalanced as we all know. What does the conversion consist of? I have no cutting tools only basic mechanic tools. I just do not want to mess her up; it was just shipped on the 10th and I've taken her to the range to ensure proper functioning. After $500, I can't afford any mistakes. I alread
