Looking for a nice foregrip, an fuglystick gas tube cover w/ a rail, and a break for an S20 (and/or S12).
Also looking for a rail-mounted flashlight w/ a pressure pad, possibly one with an integral laser. Let me know what you've got.

Not really what I'm looking for, but thanks for the offer.

Looking for interesting and custom AK/Saiga (converted) stocks.
I'll consider nicely welded stuff, side folders, wood stocks, etc.
Not looking to spend a fortune, but shoot me a picture of what you've got and what you're asking for it.

I've used my Rakurs for a year and a half on my S12, 1500 rounds of bird shot, slug and high brass with no problems. Rakurs has proven itself to me over and over again.
These days I'm really digging the space age funkiness of Obzor but haven't been to the range nearly as much to get it broken in.
It certainly helps that there are no electronic parts to mess up. I'm probably babying my Obzor a little too much...

I'd stay away from the Kobra sight unless you are building a display of obsolete cold war technology.
They are poorly made. On mine, the switch broke and there are no replacement parts available.
It is literally made of pot metal.
Generally speaking they are well made but there was a batch that had defective switches. This is what caused them to have a bad rap over here but in the field they appear to have a proven combat reputation, Russian troops apparently like them quite a bit.
That being said I think there are modern optics like 1P76 Rakurs and 1P63 Obzor that are better, and as mentioned the PK-AS is a fantastic optic as well (and was my personal favorite until Rakurs and Obzor came out).
eta: I've also ordered a ton of stuff from Eastwave since 2005 and never had a problem. Dmitry is a good seller and takes care of business.

The Obzor is extremely simple and works so well. I'm a little nervous about putting one on an S12 due to the recoil, but for close quarters with a rifle, it's fantastic.
I've never seen the Rakurs, but if you're comparing it to the Obzor, it's definitely worth checking out.

Oh crap, I've got a ton of that stuff. I had no idea it was steel core. I just checked it with a magnet, and it is indeed.

I have been looking at the photo thread to get ideas. One thing I noticed is that some of the pistol grips look like it requires moving the trigger forward and some leave it in the original position. It seems that the ones moved forward make for a more compact look as opposed to those not moved. Do those not requiring relocation of the trigger make the gun longer to fit the pistol grip. Is there a preference of one over the other? I seem to like the looks of those moved forward but the ease of those that don't require moving the trigger.
The "conversions" that are basically just a slap on pistol grip are not conversions, they're just an aftermarket stock. You are better off just keeping the original set-up if that's your preference (IMHO).
Moving the trigger-set forward IS the conversion. I'd highly recommend it. I can't tell you how much more i shoot it now that it's converted.

Sweet!
Hopefully they bring that .22WMR revolver rifle over too! I want one of those.
I am keeping my fingers crossed on that one as well.

Any update on these?

I was the first to tell him I'd take it, but as I stated already in this thread, I am fine with him selling it to whomever he wants.
Where did you state "i will take it"?
Read the rules again. As stated already. You must state "ill take it:" in the THREAD. not in a PM.
I dont really see where the OP is trying to be unfair. I really dont see where anyone is picking on anyone. Just trying to inform complainers in the right direction.
You are kinda of being a whiner though. Some times you just dont get the deal you wanted. Lesson learned, many more to come in the future.
You just spent a lot more time on this than I did...
I said I was fine with him selling to whomever he wanted... that's the american way.
if someone posts: "i'll take it asshole!" should you then sell to them?
Have fun talking about this, I have better things to do with my time.

Rustoleum BBQ black is very good stuff.

How can this be sold to Tac47 when I sent you a PM, after I posted how long is the barrel telling you I would take it?? at 9:38??
I sent him a PM at about 7:00 pm saying I'd take it. He never wrote back...
that said, he can choose to sell it to whomever he wants.

Still looking for more S20 mags (in 2 3/4).
I have an extra 3", and a 10 round Saiga .223 mag, as well as some AK mags I can trade.

Was this for a 20 or a 12?
I've emailed them previously and was told they only make them for the 12.
Plugs are interchangeable on a 12 and a 20. Not sure about a 410.

I finally got around to converting my S20 (I realize this is the wrong forum, but I figured this has a ton more traffic than that board), and I put about 100 rounds through it yesterday.
The bolt hold open bites my hand on recoil. Not horribly, but enough that after 100 rounds, I noticed.
The trigger guard seems slightly bend forward, so I've probably got my hand guard set a bit too far forward, but I can't imagine that would have anything to do with anything in regards to this issue, since that doesn't adjust the position of the trigger set.
I had to take a bit of material off the trigger because it was dragging badly on the bolt, so maybe that has something to do with it?
Is this just something that you have to deal with on a converted 20? My old converted 12 didn't have a bolt hold open, so this is new territory for me.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Very excited about these.

203 posts, and you didn't know how to adjust the gas plug... or post it in one of the (many) proper places?
Wow.

In black preferably. I have foregrips, and need a stock to match. If anyone has one that they are getting rid of, please PM me with details.

I'd greatly prefer a SLG31-94 w/ folding stock, but I'll consider any Arsenal in 5.45.
Let me know what you've got, the condition, and what you're asking for it.
Thanks!

You've given me a lot of info to process. I appreciate it.
The price point on the 1p78 and the PO 3.5 are just about the same... 2.8 on the 1p78 and 3.5 (obviously) on the PO 3.5. I do like that you don't need batteries for the 1p78. Ideally, I'd have something with some adjustability, but it doesn't seem that there are any options for that under $500.
Actually the PO 3.5 is great for 600m shooting, like I mentioned that was the same distance where I used the PO to hit steel plates that were about 3/4 man size. Even with 'just' 3.5 magnification you are able to engage effectively at those ranges. I haven't had 1P78 or 1P29 out that far yet but at 300 yards both are boringly consistent even against 6-8" steel plates. I'm trying to find a longer range so I can try these optics at 600-800m and give a more detailed range report.
The comment about the PO being set up for full auto is stating the obvious really, all these are military scopes intended for AK74M's and FA goes without saying. I think the PO 3.5 was intended for military contracts but hasn't been accepted for service yet, or maybe ever, but I have heard that it has been used in combat in small numbers. 1P78, Zeiss and 1P29 definitely have been issued as service optics. As I stated in my review my opinion is that the best bang for the buck is the 1P78 both in price compared to the 1P29 and the ZFK, and in functionality compared to both of those and the PO 3.5x21P.
As far as where to get them, 1P78 is currently available at Kalinka. 1P29 and Zeiss are only going to come up from private sellers and both will be really expensive, $650+ for the ZFK and $800+ for the 1P29. You'd have to watch some of the AK specific for sale boards as your best chance at finding them. If you see a UPO-1 those are the civilian version of the 1P29 and basically the same from what I understand.
Eastwave is another good source for optics in general but I doubt they can get 1P29 or the ZFK, I've asked Dmitry about a few rare scopes and he can't seem to get a line on them. Wouldn't hurt to ask though. He has come up with some surprising stuff before.

The Russians don't use variable power optics in 5.45, the scopes dedicated for AK74 rifles use 4x or less magnification. Your choices are limited to 1P78 Kashtan, 1P29, PO 3.5x21P and the Zeiss ZFK 4x25.
Any of the variable power PSO or POSP series will work. You'll just need to learn hold overs because the chevrons and turret adjustments won't correspond exactly to 5.45.
PO 3.5x21P is a fantastic optic btw and is good for long range shooting. I've used mine to hit at 600m with my SLR105.

Fantastic post Zen... Thanks very much for that.
One thing I did appreciate about the PO 3.5 was the large field of vision. I also like the apparent sturdiness of the PO 3.5. Granted, I've only held it in my hand, and didn't get the chance to throw it onto the ground or anything (I doubt the seller would have liked that), but it felt like it was built to withstand a lot of stress. The guy who had it told me that it was set up for full auto 5.45. Since I'll only be firing semi, I figure that might be a little bit of overkill, and I was honestly hoping for a little more out of a $500 scope in terms of flexibility. However, I'm not sure that I could see something very well at 600m with 3.5 magnification... unless it was a car.
Where would you recommend looking for all the scopes that you talk about in your post? A quick perusal of gunbroker comes up with absolutely nothing for the majority of them.
-
Can anyone point me towards either milsurp or civilian made scopes that have a reticle set up for 5.45 bullet drops. Most everything I'm seeing seems to be either set up for either 7.62x54 or 7.62x39.
I'd like adjustable magnification if possible.
The only thing I'm finding is a PO 3.5, and for $500 (give or take), I'd like a little more flexibility in a scope.

PM sent.
Best place to get a Vepr?
in Vepr 5.45

I'm in the market for one, and I'm wondering what the best place to get one from is... in terms or customer service, price (obviously), extras/specials, etc...
Any suggestions?
