  1. Ah yeah... I see what you mean about the Mags now.

I actually have a Izhmash BHO 8Rnd Mag that I got from Russia. I always new it was different but didnt know why until tonight.

I can see why some people bought these and then sold them afterwards. Without a good supply of mags it makes it kind of a PITA.

I think I'll stay away from these. I'd rather be able to pick-up any Ol S12 and have it work with any of my mags as opposed to owning one that only except specific (or modded) mags

    Thanks Hog

  2. OK. Yeah that does help thanks HOG.

I've been thinking about getting another S12 since they're prices are back to reality.

I'd be nice to get a S12 that had the BHO mod from the factory, but if an aftermarket BHO performs better then the factory BHO then I guess it wouldnt matter.

I only have & use factory mags so thats not an issue

  3. If you don't have Mags & bullets ready and waiting, then you don't have a firearm. PERIOD!

My absolute minimum for each of my firearms is 5 mags, and I like to have 7 mags for any single firearm before I start to feel satisfied.

Currently I have just five Factory-8's, and one Factory-5 (just about the bare minimum in my book)

  4. Thats about exactly how I feel about it.

& I don't hold any anger over it either

Look i understand that mike has generated an enormous amount of good will over his 20 round drums, i love his Molot grips, and he's earned it. he seems like a great guy. i know.

BUT lets not sit here and pretend Czechoslovakia isn't getting blitz here, i mean c'mon really? just because he's a good designer and businessmen doesn't mean we gotta be his PR firm, he did set up launch windows and then fail to give a reason why he essentially canceled the project, i'm not mad but only because of how outstanding the previous projects were.

bottom line, if you don't want to ever take the product to market, don't hype and set up launch windows.

I've seen this exact thing happen in the video game industry, and politics, if you make big promises and you don't deliver, it WILL generate a lot of negative sentiment. Don't boast big unless you can follow through. Mike can follow though on a lot of things but this was apparently to much for him.

And let's not forget ProMag cant pull together a DS either

  5. As far as my MD20 goes... I bet its like you said Pauly... the bolt edges are rubing against the shells to harshly & slowing the bolt down too much. I never thought of that before, thanks. I always have failure to feeds (the round only feeds about half way in & I have to give it a shove to get it in all the way).

And again my intention in starting this thread wasnt to direct my inquiries towards MD. I simply was curious as to what happened to the idea of the double stack.

Whatever is happening with MD thats fine. I am 100% for him making whatever decision he beleives is best for him and his family. I applaud his efforts for that.

I (like others I've heard mention) would simply be excited to see just a single stack thats on par with the Izhmash-8. Oh man would i LOVE that!

As far as aftermarket quality goes... I give the trophy to MD hands down. They have built the best aftermarket mag to date (even if it is a drum which to me feels to bulky to be tactful).

I tell you what... I wouldnt even buy a double stack that didnt have metal locking lugs.

Im so done with "range-equipment" ...just the thought of spending my money on fun-mags is bothering me these days.

    Heck... who wants a good deal on a MD20, PromagMiniDrum, & 3 SGM10's?

Until something comparible to the Saiga-8 comes out, i'll own nothing else

  6. Speaking in terms only of good hardheartedness (not of religion or faith)

    The way I see it.....

You can only give others what you are & have to give.

If you want to be the best help you can be, then you have to be the best you can be.

If you allow yourself to be run-down by others ill choices and actions... then you can only give run-down help.

Maybe you care for something so much... that you would allow yourself to be abused by it, rather than defend yourself & cause more destruction upon it.

How much help can your abused-self give to others?

If your aim is to help others in getting through a dangerous world... then you must 1st be here to help.

Then 2ndly... If you want to be the most helpful you can be, you've got to do the best you can for yourself, so that you can give your best to others. (otherwise you won't be at your best, and won't be able to give your best).

Its one thing to love unconditionally, and another to allow yourself to be taken advantage of, &/or be abused.

Aim to give unconditional love to the people around you... [those that need help, even the ones who do the most damage to our world (external & internal)] ...but at the same time be certain to identify situation that you must protect yourself from.

Thats a very important balance that must be maintained

    For example....

You can't go into a pack of hungry wolves and think you'll be nice to them, so they won't tear you up and eat you.

You can aim to understand the roles that the wolves play in this world, & You can aim to appreciate them for that role, but still know that it would be very dangerous to get involved with them.

If the wolves came to you... you'd be forced into making a choice. You know that if you attempt to be nice... its going to cost you (maybe you & your family life?). & Also know that if you forcibly protect yourself from them, you'd be destroying something that you can understandably appreciate. You can't blame a hungry pack of wolves for doing what they do... but also you can't allow yourself to be a victim either (you can't take blame for protecting yourself).

So you protect yourself and your surroundings, while still being able to hold appreciation for the wolf & its role in our world.

In times of great hardship... I bet some of the nicest people would be so desperate that they'd do things they'd never thought they'd do.

In such desperate times, You can't blame them for attempting to hold onto their life with everything they've got (they could have starving kids to feed).

But still... you've got to know when you need to protect yourself.

Its possible to still love and appreciate someone (or lots of people), while having to simultaneously protect yourself against them.

It would be absolutely heart breaking to have to physically defend yourself against someone you appreciate... but the choices are to allow yourself to be taken under by their ill-actions, or to protect yourself against others ill-actions.

And again.... even if you have to physically protect yourself against others ill-choices/actions... you can aim to understand their situation (forgive them for their desperation) and appreciate what they have inside of them (something I believe never goes away)

If your aim is to help others in getting through a dangerous world... then you must 1st be here to help.

You needn't feel bad about protecting yourself in a dangerous world. You can feel bad about the situation people are in (the situation that drives them to do horrible things). You can care about them and honor them even though they are in those bad situations. But you need to care enough about yourself that will choose to protect yourself so that you can go onto to be a good service for those who could honorably use your help.

So thats how I see it.

I would certainly hate to ever have to forcibly defend myself against anyone (cause I truly aim to find understanding and appreciation in all walks of life).

But at the same time I choose not to become a victim of our worlds bad circumstances.

I certainly do not want to make choices that will continue the circumstances that we find ourselves in either (we gotta stop the cycle of BS to get out of it).

I'd like to help take us towards a new direction, but I gotta 1st be here to do that. So I gotta protect myself.

Protecting myself from others bad choices in a dangous world just isnt something I want to feel bad about

  7. Yeah know I didnt notice that, but I see what you mean. I doubt it will make a difference (its not alot narrower) but if it does cause probs... its nothing a dremel can't fix.

Once I get my AKsight/Gas system delivered, I'm going to attempt to fit one of these on my S12. I'll really have to dremel off a big chunk for that.

I came very close to switching to one of these. I prefer the standard AK sights over a peep, but I was almost over that when I noticed after borrowing my friend's gun with one installed that the ejection port area is noticeably smaller with the TWS than with a standard top cover installed. This could lead to ejection problems. I'm puzzled as to why TWS didn't just follow the contour of the standard top cover.

  8. This isnt really a MD Arms thread. I beleive other companies had plans for it too.

But as far as MD goes... I wouldnt say MD Arms is the best thing to happen to the S12. I think they only ever made like 2 parts (gas plug & 20rnd Drum).

I think its probably the other way around... The S12 is the best thing to happen to MD.

Which is why I can understand Loyal MD customers ("S12" customers) are disappointed that they got dropped after all the support they gave MD.

And as far as the MD20 goes.... I truly believe everyone when they say that their drum mag is awesome, but honestly "my" MD20 has never fired a full 20rnds without a failure (im not exaggerating "never").

Its VERY hard to load (compared to any mag I've ever loaded) and the dang thing just won't give me a full cycle without a hickup. That said I wouldnt ever sell it (cause its still a cool toy), but at the same time I don't use it much cause its bulky and not really functional (so it just doesnt get used)

I kinda feel like thats what happened to the S12 DS.

Its probably possible with custom one-off creations, but not really producible

I rember seeing a video where Jack Travers of JT Engineering mentioned Sure Fire was coming out with a Double Stack Mag too

It just seems as if the idea has fallen off a cliff

  9. Its pretty dang nice might I add. I hesitated to get one because of the price, but its nicer in person.

Its Very solid when shut, and I really like how low the rail height is.

It also keeps a close contour to the original AK top cover which I really like (I never liked the top rails to added bulk, or a different shape to my AK. I like to keep the lines close to original even if it is modded).

    IMG_0632-2.jpg

I also did a basic test fit on my S12 (which is why I really bought it).

Its a very tight fit (almost as if the S12 receiver is just SLIIIIIIIGHTLY wider than a regular AK).

And of course it will need to be cut/trimmed on the side so that a 12ga shell can eject without getting jammed up in the cover.

All of that only if you already have the AK47/74 rear sight and gas block on your S12 (so you can attach the front of the cover onto it).

But I do think I can get it to work. So once I get my AK sight/Gas Block & tube from Dinzag.... I'm gonna attempt to install one of these on my S12.

If I can get it to work nicely on my S12 I think that will be awesome!

Sounds like your smart enough to figure out what you want.

Besides the mag well and gas system I don't think theres much of a difference. The S12 doesnt realy have problems that need to be solved. the 030 is not an updated version of the S12 that was made to fix issues.

The 030 is the top of the line as far tactical S12's go (maybe most of it is just coolness & wow factor). If you're a person that loves S12's (is patient, willing to spend more $$$, and be vigilant in tracking down hard to find parts) then a 030 might be for you. If you just want a nice mag fed shotgun thats fun to shoot then the 109 will do the trick just the same. I bet every person on the list who has put money down to get a 030 already has ATLEAST one S12.

Maybe just buy a 109... see how you like it. If its not enough for you, mod it, or sell it and get a 030 if thats what you really want (resell value is probably pretty good right now if you decided you wanted your cash back)
