  1. ok. i can do that. but i want to be sure its not canted when i do it. surely it cant be to hard to get it strait i hope
  2. yeah but i whached some vids and the guys were drilling out these two little dimples in the side to take it off (no pin grove) thats what im worried about. cuz i dont wanna hammer it off and realize i cant put on the akm because there are no pin slots block ya know.
  3. ok so i want my rifle to accept 14x1 threaded muzzle adapters, i could cut the shroud back and use a crush washer. but is there any way i can drill and hammer off the old one and use a standard front sight block with the little spring loaded locking pin in the front for the muzzle brake? and if i do will i have to file a notch for the pin to fit in just like with the handgaurd retainer? i dont want the one that has the bigger 24mm threads. thanks
  4. alright i have a fully converted saiga (accept for muzzle break and cleaning rod) and i have a non ported gas tube on it with a handgaurd retainer for the upper handgaurd....i noticed the old gas tube didnt have port holes either but other akm rifles have ported gas block or tube........is their advantages to having ported gas system? if so could i just drill a couple holes in the gas tube and be good? any additional info? thanks
  5. ok so ive had my saiga for awhile and i like everything about it accept i HATE the stock iron sights. so im really thinking about putting a scope on it to help get tighter more consistent groups. but i dont know much about the different brands accept that some are way out of my price range...so im looking for a lower powered scope maybe like a 1.5-4 or something like that. but im low on money so i cant really go over $100 and i also cant waste that kind of money on a scope that i end up not useing cuz its crap.....so what do u guys think are some good scopes for the money? and i also dont real
  6. hey guys, today i put $100 down on a saiga 7.62x39 and i will have the rest of the money in a couple days to go pick it up, $450 brand new out the door. and i did notice it had magazine dimples in the receiver, whats up with that? what do they do, help magazine wobble or something? oh and is it recommended to do any kind of break in or what?? i dont know anything about breaking in a rifle lol.
  7. alot of different opinions i see lol....well if some one could tell me how much more range/accuracy the 5.45 really has over the 7.62 that would help me alot.
  8. yeah thats what im thinking but i just wouldnt want to make the wrong choise....but the 223 isnt appealing to me at all anymore for some reason lol.
  9. ok i really want to get a saiga and convert it but im not sure which caliber i want yet.....i plan on using it primarily for target shooting and home defense/SHTF, but maybe hog/deer hunting a couple times a year but if not i have other rifles i can use for that. i might help me if i knew how much more accurate the 5.45 or 5.56 is compared to the 7.62...and i heard that u can snap a ak-74 mag right into the saiga 5.45 without mods, is that true? do u have to have a bullet guide or anything? if theres no mods needed then that would be a plus for the 5.45
  10. thanks that helped alot lol. ok so i think i know what to do now...save up alil extra money and go buy one. cuz im not gunna go get a cheap ass ak for the same price as a quality built russian one (that i will have to put alil extra time and $$$ into to convert it) but hey, thats the fun part.... except for the money that is
  11. ok cool. oh and i also need to make sure its legal (922r) so if i get a tapco g2 trigger, american pistol grip and a tapco stock then is it 922r compliant or what?
  12. ok i have a question, i am thinking about getting a saiga 7.62x39 and converting it, i know how to convert it to a pistol grip; but i am not clear on exactly what to do with the rifle to accept standard ak magazines....can i get away with ONLY filing the mag catch lever? or do i also have to put in a bullet guide? basically what are all the necessary steps i have to do to make it work right? thank you.
