  1. If you have the right gun and a comfortable way of bringing it along ,it should and will be with you all the time like a wallet.

The wife's M&P 40 C is a nice gun and she is very good with it but she did not take it along all the time.

She bought a Colt Mustang carry lite 380 and it is with her all the time, all the time.

This needs to be considered as well

    Uhhh... So anyway. ^This.
  2. 466,275 of us in Indiana can't be wrong. :) LTCH applications have gone up by 17,000 in the last year. I've carried everywhere I've gone for the last 6 years and wouldn't have it any other way.

People have tried to argue, "You don't need to carry a gun. Do you realize how remote the chances are that you would ever need it?"

My rebuttal: Want to go swimming with sharks? How about skydiving? Stand in the open during a thunderstorm? Build a house on a volcano? The odds are so remote that anything bad would happen, you'd be completely safe! Oh, not as sure about those things? Suddenly placing your life in anyone else's hands isn't so appealing, eh?

When seconds count, the police... Eh, you know how it goes.

  3. I had the same issues with HP's in my Springfield. Winchester PDX-1's would not chamber reliably. I switched over to Federal Hydroshocks since they have a little tighter HP to them. Those worked fine for awhile, but then I discovered CMC mags and Hornady Critical Defense. Zero issues since.

The Rugers look like they're pretty good quality. Good find! Definitely invest in some new mags for HP's. I still have all of my old mags but they have become "range only."

  4. I had a friend like this. He wasn't a drug addict, but he sure loved to party... Long story short, my best friend in the world (who was going to be my best man) waited a whole two days after my fiance left me before he confessed his "undying love" to her. He bad-mouthed me to her, lied his ass off, and manipulated the situation to drive us apart.

Like you, I was so furious that I didn't know what to say. I have very few people in my life that I consider friends and he was like a brother to me. I told him off and avoided him for two years. Karma caught up with him. His fiance had left him only a month before this happened and she took their baby. Then he lost his cushy union job and couldn't pay on either of their vehicles. He lost those too. Then he lost his apartment. He got a new girlfriend who, oddly enough, went to middle school with me and remembered me (I didn't meet him until I moved and switched high schools).

He seems to have grown up a little and he's starting to pick up the pieces of his life. I help him with things from time to time (mainly for the sake of his girlfriend and child) but I will never trust him again. He's a liar and a skirt-chasing deadbeat. I hold his proverbial hand because someone has to.

People like this don't really change, they just find different situations to get themselves into.

Max - It's all good brother. Technically I still don't have internet. Got my puter rigged. lol. Being a country boy has its advantages. I'll get with you soon.

Dude... Stop buying gun stuff for like, 1 week, and get a "new" ebay computer already! :)

I've been busy playing with tractors and doing summer time home owner type crap. I've also come to the realization that my means are limited, and I should sit on the ammo and firearms I have for awhile. :( Blowing off $500 of ammo just isn't in the cards for me and I know if I showed up that's what would happen!

Precisely why I got into reloading. I shot for 4 hours straight, birdshot and reloads only. Cost me maybe $50. Also bought 500 plated .40 bullets at the range office, so I practically replaced my ammo before I fired it. :)

It's too bad you guys didn't make it. I've never shot that much in one day (except maybe some .22's back in the day) and it was a good time. Learned a few things:

-Uzis aren't very comfortable for me.

-Suppressor on said Uzi was the shit!

-.500 S&W magnum will seriously fuck some shit up.

    -1911's are still cool.

-S12's make everyone smile. Unless somebody forgot to put their earplugs back in.

-Suppressed G19 is fun, but not something I'd invest in.

-10mm is, was, and will always be badass.

-After carrying all the gear and shooting that much, you can be hurting for like 3 days. :lolol:

  6. I carry with a round in the chamber, in a retention holster - a Serpa blackhawk. It's simple and functional, I press a button, and draw the pistol out with my finger alongside the trigger guard. No round in the chamber = more time for someone to shoot you first.

^This. I carried for three years on an empty chamber until I felt comfortable with Condition 1 carry. I thought it was a reckless practice until I realized that if a situation occurs where I must draw, it would be highly unlikely that I would have the time to rack one in.

That said, I do not recommend it for everyone. First time gun owners are almost certainly better off not carrying one in the pipe. Once a person has the experience and is comfortable (and safety-minded), I see no problem with it. Just my $.02

sig 1911 scorpion. traded my springfield 1911 for it.

    1911-Scorpion-Detail-R.jpg

You will never regret that trade! I'm heading to the range in a bit and I'll be firing mine. Without a doubt, it's the nicest handgun I own.

I thought all 1911 were the same except for how they were customized. I had alot work don on my springfield. The weight and balance are nicer. It is nice to fire. almost lost it to my wife she likes it to.

You can certainly customize one to give you a similar feel, but this has been a rare thing for me: Feels and works great right out of the box. The only thing I changed was adding a Wilson extended slide release due to my girlishly small hands. :)
  8. Never, and I mean never, hook back up with an ex. It just ain't worth the drama. And the hell of it was, I knew better. That story is for beer night.

Amen, brother. Been down that road.. Twice.

Well it turns out that Hillside is open afterall but only from 12-4. I'll be there with a handful of guys from INS and possibly. A coworker or two. Come on out and join the fun!

  9. I used to live in this hick place called spencerville IN. lol... long story short forced into this redneck get together involving naked guys in a above ground pool and more alcohol and fireworks than a new years celebration. They had bon fire going and some jag off throws a spam can into the bon fire along with all the fireworks he was carrying.

I never ran so fast in my life...

The first indication that things would go awry:

    Spencerville.

  10. Syndicate just reminded me (I don't know how I forgot) of my hillbilly-ass neighbors at my last house. They invited me to "shotgun bowling" in their backyard. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. Walmart Federal and Remington bulk packs, shotguns, and bowling pins.

They neglected to mention the beer, tequila, moonshine, and weed.

Being the only sober one there was odd enough (never had a drop or joint in my life) and then the ricochets began. 7 1/2 shot stings a bit but only two guys bled. Anyway, one of the guys was royally shitfaced. I was starting to think about pulling him out of the game when he grabbed an 870, swung the barrel straight at the rest of us, and stumbled up to the firing line.

We all hit the dirt. I thought for sure at least a few of us were about to be ER-bound. We started yelling at him, "Put the gun down, you jackass!" He turns, still pointing it at us. "It ain't loaded!" -racks the pump and a shell kicks out-

"Uh, well.. The safety's on!" -glances down and sees that it is NOT-

"Uh, well... Y'all are a bunch of pussies!"

His turn ended quickly. As did the rest of the game.

  11. Hells yeah! What about everybody else in this thread? Did we lose 'em?

Looking like 2 of my coworkers might show up for a bit. 5 guys from INS for sure, another 4 are currently "maybe." Looks like we'll be hogging the entire range all day!

  12. The closest I have ever come to a ND was out in the woods with an SKS. I had recently mounted a scope and my buddy wanted to go play. After a couple hours of general plinking, we were pretty relaxed and I had just reloaded. Evidently I hadn't flipped the safety back up and went to shoulder the weapon. Just as I did, a stick shifted under my foot and my finger fell on the trigger.

Bang. Silver dollar eyes. We stared at each other for a moment. I got lucky- it was pointed downrange and harmlessly struck near the target.

I had far too many close-calls with my ex. Multiple times with my P22; she had a round chambered, safety off, hammer back, finger on the trigger, and turned around to talk to me. Still in a shooting stance with the weapon pointed at my chest, she'd start to ask a question and I'd come unglued. I nearly slapped that bitch. Wish I had. The new one has learned vicariously. Good girl. :)

Well, I gave one of his crew the message, cause I was busy moving his set carts and cases to the truck after his set.

Last time through, I got to carry the his "toys" to the stage and set them. super_man.gif

    Very Cool, Del Preston!

Alright, ladies and gentlemen. It takes two people to run a concert: one back stage, and one out front. One man alone cannot do this. Wayne, you will run the backstage team. Milton, you are my liaison between Wayne's backstage team and Garth's front-stage team which includes myself in the booth. To the left and right of the stage are machine-gun pillboxes, M-60 Browning. Now these babies tend to heat up so shoot in 3 second bursts. In the event of capture I will personally distribute these cyanide capsules to be placed under the tongue like so. [Places a capsule in his mouth] Any questions?

When did you turn in to a nut bar? :lolol:
  14. I've been employed as a welder with the same company since I was 17. I used to fabricate motor bases for aggregate screens.

After five years of running that department, I was reassigned to building vibrating mechanism housing tubes like this one.

It's certainly nothing exciting but it funds my hobbies well.

Of course, one of the benefits of being a welder in a large shop is that I have access to the necessary equipment to make these:

Metal sculpture is far more fun than industrial fabrication, but hey- somebody's gotta keep the lights on and fun hardly ever pays the bills.

  15. Savage Fox Model B, side-by-side 16ga & Colt Buntline Scout. They were my Grandfather's and Great-Grandfather's, respectively. Not a thing wrong with either of them but I don't want anything to happen to them. They get inspected, oiled, and wiped down with silicone a couple times a year and left the hell alone after that.

Beyond the sentimental side of things, I had a S&W Sigma .40 that I didn't really care for. It wasn't bad once you got used to it, but follow-up shots sucked. Other than that, I've rarely come across a weapon that I could say I didn't care to shoot at all.
