  1. I love it how this gun ban bullshit is taking precedence over the fiscal cliff which could potentially wreck an already flimsy economy. I still hear of it, but now its washed in with a bunch of ban talk that is distracting everyone.

I bet the gun ban proposal is just to drive us so far off the cliff that no one will be able to afford firearms and ammo. It seems like when our leaders need to take something seriously (i.e. economic or international crises) some bullshit distractions comes up to.

This is about how I feel on the matter:

    End rant

  2. For some time I have had my eyes on the evil black rifle, and I have seen nothing but good reviews for Palmetto State Armory's line of ARs. They use 1/7 twist chrome lined barrels and bores, with all the bells and whistles. They use FN barrels from what I've read and are as reliable and accurate as any of the ABC (Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt) ARs. Soo, does anyone have any personal experience with these guns?

  3. You have 4 holes in your front gas block that work fine already. They are located where the tube fits into the front gas block. If you create more ventilation, you run a serious risk of under gassing. Unless you are prepared to buy another gas tube, just leave it how it is.

  4. I think one of the big misconceptions held by anti-gunners is that some sort of magical enlightenment happens in the military and LEO training that makes a person finally worthy of wielding a firearm; where civilian peons are too stupid and incapable of fathoming the power of a firearm.

People who are not responsible and seekers of knowledge (i.e. they already know everything) around any type of potentially dangerous tools or machinery are a threat to themselves and others. It doesn't matter how much training you have if you become complacent, careless or reckless.

That said, I was not impressed with the basic marksmanship training in the military. Depending on your MOS and skillset, you may not get much more than periodic refreshers and requalifications with your weapons after basic training. I am sure the same goes for those in Law Enforcement. Meeting the minimum standards typically means you are not an immediate danger to yourself and others. Meanwhile other individuals in the military and law enforcement will go onto become some of the most elite and skilled in the world through selective processing and rigorous and comprehensive training.

Very well said. I have the utmost respect for our law enforcement officers, but they are just as human as any of us are. I guarantee I could out-shoot a significant number of LEOs with any firearm. As far as the percentage I could outshoot, I don't know and I couldn't give it. I just have faith in my shooting and feel I have a solid firearm proficiency (at least at the range). That being said, I know some LEOs who could run circles around me with their firearm skills.

  5. I didn't read his comments as every time he shoots the gun, but understood it as every time he goes shooting? This is completely possible, mark around the penny using that mark as an aiming reference, squeeze off a magazine full of ball ammo, and you'll probably hit it... makes sense to me.

  6. So i just bough a Saiga 12 and 20 rd drum mag today. I also bought a 12 rd promag banana clip. This will be my primary home defense/zombie killing weapon. Will leaving these mags loaded damage them?

Time for some mild newbie flaming. There is no such thing as a "banana clip". What you are referring to is called a magazine. There are stripper clips that are thin pieces of metal that hold bullets together so they can be easily loaded into a magazine.

This is a clip feeding into a magazine.

I leave mine loaded and they seem to be fine. Compression isn't what kills springs. Cycles kill them.

    Welcome aboard!

ETA: MD-20s are extremely durable and dependable. I run them hard and throw them around a bit. I think they like it.

Yup, you can keep a spring compressed and it will be fine. I have verified this through some of my engineering friends.

  7. i want my gun first damit, and then ill let hell rain down on him, when i called last week monday before i even bought if from kvar and called to make sure it was all good he said come in as soon as possible to do the paper work, i thought this was standard procedure, since ive only really bought guns from there besides person to person sales.

This may not be easy to do. Unless you meticulously document everything, going to the authorities post-situation wont be nearly as easy as going to them right now during this shit storm. Contact the authorities first IMO. If you do this, you will get your gun.

  8. We'll see these types of technology adapted for vehicle weapons before we see them for infantry. For example Phase 3 of the Navy's railgun program was to build one comparable to a 120mm and attempt to get the Army interested enough to invest in developing something comparable to the Abrams cannon.

I think the "near-future" concepts for pushing conventional small arms are just as interesting. Here are some examples of that:

-Reduced weight ammunition: polymer cased and caseless, see LSAT. This programs initial efforts proved a reliable polymer (delrin) cartridge could reduce weight by 40% as well as reducing the cost to manufacture. While done under the auspice of reducing the burden on soldiers, its more likely to result in a Sergeant telling his men to carry 40% more ammunition, thus allowing them to stay in the fight that much longer.

-Reliable "hyperburst" fire capabilities; burst fire where two rounds are automatically fired so quickly one after the other they will hit the same point. The Russians have this in an unreliable form, and the US Army has been dangling money out there for someone to try to develope it domestically. The technology if more reliably developed would allow a soldier to defeat body armor without the need for specialized ammo, since most body armor isn't rated for repeated strikes on that tight a grouping.

-Smarter ammunitions: self correcting bullets for long (and extremely long) range shooting (see Sandia Labs) and programable warheads (like XM-25 but smaller). The notion is a simple one, take the technologies that have developed to improve tank and artillery accuracy and lethality and fit them to the smaller physical envelope.

Like the H&K G11? As I was web surfing future small arms that gun came up. It kinda combines two of your points: since the gun has no case to eject, it can shoot rounds at a faster rate of fire and that was the premise of the G11, quick burst fire to place many small 4.73x33 rounds on target. I can definitely see caseless ammo being before mini railguns that we could carry.

  9. Let me first start out by saying yes, I know these weapons couldn't do any real damage (except maybe for the Gauss gun AKA coil gun). However, the fact that they exist means they could get smaller and more powerful and actually be effective small arms sooner than I thought. Today we are already blowing stuff up/destroying shit and their bigger versions (Navy rail gun and the Boeing YAL-1 laser).

I dunno if these are reposts, but the coil gun is what impressed me the most. I suspect a small arm powered by electromagnets will be at least an effective prototype in the next 20 years... at least something mounted to a vehicle like the size of an M2 .50.

  10. I use the regular free Pandora because I am cheaplaugh.png . I believe the Pandora subscription is the same deal without the ads and there isn't a cap per month of how many hours you can listen too. Some people swear the music is more clear, but with my free version the music sounds plenty good to me. Is it worth it? If you listen to it a lot, like in the car, at the gym or at work, then I say yeah go for it! But I have no personal experience with it myself
