  1. Hey BattlerifleG3, If you look below at recent threads, you will see the one concerning the use of the new 20 round magazines and not running afoul of BATF. The consensus was that if one is to use the new 20 round (US made) mags, two other foreign parts would have to be replaced. The cheapest and easiest to replace would be a US made handguard and buttstock. You stated that you sell these parts - correct? How much for a set? Thanks, Matt
  2. Not questioning the accuracy of what has been said because I don't know any better, but it just doesn't seem right to me for this law to govern what size mags you can use if you don't change the rifle itself. To me a rifle designed to use detachable magazines is a unit seperate and apart from any magazine that you should choose to use. So would it be illegal to posess higher cap mags if they weren't in the rifle? I agree with your logic on this - Detachable magazines separate from the actual rifle. Has BATF ever made a pronouncement on this - exactly?
  3. Thank you very much for the replies. So if I understand this correctly, I can get by, and be legal, by merely changing to a US made stock and pistol grip (AK style - much like the ones listed in publications such as Cheaper than Dirt)? I don't have huge funds to invest so the least expensive options would be the best for me.
  4. I am almost ready to pull the trigger on a Saiga 308 (pun intended ). I would also like to buy a few of the 20 round magazines. Reading some of the previous threads on the mags has left me a little confused about whether other things have to be changed out to stay in compliance with firearms import regulations. Since the mags are US made, I didn't think there would be any issue in buying them? I have never bought a foreign made semiauto so if someone could sum up the pitfalls and how to avoid them, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Matt
  5. What would be the best way to block an 8 round magazine to reduce it to five? I suppose yu could put a piece of wood or even styrofoam in it.
  6. I'm taking a hard look at the Saiga 308. First, what is the difference between the Saiga 100 series and the other Saiga 308's. What about 5 round magazines - are these available (I live in Maine and you can't use > than 5 rounds for hunting with a semi-auto). I see 8 rounders and I see that there are 20 rounders available, but I can't find 5 round magazines. However, if one looks up the Saiga 100 series, they supposedly come with two three round magazines. What gives?
  7. Hi, I'm new to the forum and I don't even own a Saiga (although I'm interested in buying one). What can you tell me about the Saiga 308 (dependability/accuracy)? What is the best variant? What is the going price? Where is the best place to get one?
