  1. I must say I thank you so much for your interest and the will to help!

To our point.First of all I must find out if the MD mag will work with Vepr 12 even with light mods.If this happens then we come to your help.BTW it will be easy to pass through our customs because noone in Greece knows what this will be.It can me marked as car parts or anything, but I doupt they will recognize it even if you mark it as drum mag.As I said, it is LEGAL to own it for sporting purposes. If everything else isn't enough, it can be shipped for the gun club I'm in.

About you can't have the Vepr 12 madmax4x4 I'm so sorry, but I can guarantee as many rounds as you like with mine if you pass from Greece for summer vacations :killer:

  2. Thanks for the info kisatu.Maybe this guy's stuff is good quality, but it comes more than the double price to buy than the MD one.One good point is, they are made to fit on Vepr 12's.Btw they look like the AA mags.

  3. Will have to have the gun in front of me to see any loading differnces between the 4 and the 10 rounders.I come to contact with my guns every weekend as they're stored in my other house.I will clean it good, and try to see any differences with the Barnaul rounds.I will come up with conclusions.Good to see some activity in this forum thanks. My gun is a long barreled, the one pictured in my avatar.

  4. Ok when I'll go back home at weekend I'll try to loose the skirt and have closeups of the mags to see what we have here. And you can post the mags you have to compare.

Dunno if Mike can ship to Greece, but it is legal to have them here.I always hope that a member can be a middle man and re-ship them to me.

  5. More than one ter rounders? I have two but I lost one somewhere in the wherehouse BUT it has to have the problem with both cause this was the first time I used this one I had it stored since new I was always using the same.BTW I am the first owner of the weapon.

  6. Ok I have a Molot Vepr 12 and I'd like to know if the MD drum mag will do the job.I've heard that the S12 mags will work with it but never had the luck to test it myself. The Vepr 12 has something like a skirt for easy mag insertion, and with a quick look it seems that the drum mag will not get there. This skirt is removable and stays in place with a screw or to so it won't be a problem removing it.I have here a picture from my other post.Take a look please.

  7. I have jamming problems with the original Izhmash 10 round mag.Looks like it won't extract properly, the empty shell stays vertical to the bolt, ant won't let it return and load another round.Happens with all shells, slugs or other, every brand, even with the Barnaul ones. With any gas tube selection.Never happens with the factory 4 round mags.Any ideas?

  8. Whell definitely a short barrel shotgun looks more tactical, and I would buy this one mysef if I had the opportunity.Blaster's point is preety much right, tho.

Now about import in your country.First you have to know if someone imported the gun officialy. If it has you have to buy it from him.If not and you have the ability to request an import from a gunsmith, then since you know the factory and the model you can contact them and fix the details.

  9. Damn Phatt, Your English's champ. Are you Greek? If so then Ευχαριστω.

Yes sir I am.Thanks I had 7 years of English lessons to get the First Certificate in English from Cambridge University and I have been to England twice. If I get what you mean. :)

  10. Ok so here's the strip pictures I promised.

This is like an expanded view, note the upper cover is riveted to the body to maintain zeroing, note the ambidextrous safety lever, also the end of the bolt that fits into the piston is somehow different than Saigas.

This is the pressure and all the test/verification markings(picture a bit dizzy, soz)

    post-3-055218600 1279290122_thumb.jpg

This is the hammer and internal parts, note at the front the part that helps keep the bolt back when the mag is empty.

    post-3-066463200 1279290130_thumb.jpg

I don't know the proper name of this part in English I'd say is the head of the bolt.Note it is a 2 piece part, the front piece rotates, thing that don't happen in my .410, dunno if the Saiga 12's got it like that or it is one piece part.

    post-3-025136800 1279290138_thumb.jpg

This is a closeup of the bolt end, note that it has a small cut dunno what is this for, and the piston itself has a hole that the end fits in.

    post-3-088756500 1279290146_thumb.jpg

Several things I'd like to say about the gun.The basic differences from a Saiga is that it has a casing for the mag, 3 picatinnys, ambidextrous safety and double safety on the other side that helps turn it to the fire position with your index finger while holding the pistol grip, and an open bolt holder. It has a great finish and painting, much better than the Saigas low quality and the skeleton buttstock is full covered with rubber. The flash hider is kept in place with a pin, and it's not screwed to fit a choke. That is something that can be fixed, I will put a paradox choke.I also love the fact that it has the last 3 digits of the S/N stamped on every part that can come out.It has them on the bolt, on the smaller part of the bolt, even on the extractor! It has them on the gas tube, on the piston even on the back side of the rear sights is hand engraved. That gives a more special and unique style.Anyone knows the use of 4 holes in the handguard? It has 2 holes on each side...

I also wanted to ask about your law restrictions. You are allowed to have Saiga shotguns and rifles, you're allowed to own VEPR rifles, but not VEPR shotguns that are almost the same with Saigas? How come?I mean, in Greece you can't own any rifled gun because of their improved ability on distance and targeting that makes them more effective as firearms. And because the folding buttstock is illegal here, the factory made a mod and stuck it.I just don't get it, give me some light please :)

  11. I'm at a loss here. The train left, and I was on the thing.

What country are you in, and where'd you buy that baby, and how much did you pay?

    Update:

Country: oh, duh, you're from Greece. How is that you can have quality toys like that in Greece and we, one of the most powerful countries in the world, can't get quality weapons unless we pay boo-koo bucks? Something is ass-backwards here...

On a side note, my great-grandparents were Greek-nationals, so it doesn't surprise me that Greece friggin' rocks.

Do you have to have any special permits or licenses in Greece to own one of those, or can any civilian own one?

    DAMN, that's cool!

It's smoothbore, so for Greece is just a hunting shotgun, so you can own it like a civilian. However there are directions from the European Union about smoothbore guns with military/tactical look and use.In fact we have here an AK mechanism that is DE-modified to make it semi-auto and with some other differences from the total tactical models.I don't know exactly the direction, but I think it might say that if it can be modified easily, it shouldn't be imported.Dunno.

Now about the prices.Think about it.How much did you payed for your Saiga? I payed 500 warm Euros back in 2004 when I bought a .410.The Barnaul .410 slugs cost 8 euros for a box of 10.It cost 800 for a new S12.Do the calculations and see how much money is it in your currency. Also from the prices I saw recently, a Walther P99 goes like 600 Euros and a Beretta 92 can be found for 1200.In a country that the average salary is like 600 Euros, the thing is more than obvious.

What do you mean "Quality guns" ?I don't know about the guns people prefer in the States, but I'm pretty sure that USDM guns like Colt, S&W, Winchester, Browning and stuff like that are much cheaper than this side of the ocean, and also I believe they pretty much are "Quality guns".

  12. Is that the 01 or 02 ( 26" barrel ), how much was it in your Country ??

Were getting then in the UK next month, a friend is importing them.

It comes in 52cm barrel which translates in 20.5".BTW I loved all of your replies thank you.Because of this tomorrow I'm about to post some pics with the gun stripped.Thank you all ppl :)

ManiacJack, I live in Greece, and thank god we import these babies for god knows how much more.I got it from the Importer, but you can buy it in local gunstores. It is kinda pricey but I couldn't resist myself, I payed a good 1,2000 Euros for it.But I can tell you that lots of ppl buy them cause they look so horny :) If you come along anytime, I can ensure you to have some fun with it.

Also for the fellas whining about WE get all the good stuff I think I don't have to remind you that we have major restrictions about ALL rifled guns, including handguns. If you want I can explain you the predictions of the law about this.

  13. Well once again I post this here cause I think is the most proper place to do.

I have some pictures of the Molot VEPR 12 I bought yesterday.Take a look.

The same logo on the pistol grip. The paper piece was in place to keep the S/N private.

This is the folding buttstock but it is stuck somehow open due to law restrictions in Greece.

  14. You are Greek aren,t you? Why complain? ;) So am I thats why I gave you this link. :smoke:

Well, I wasn't.It's just funny you gave me a Greek site.BTW this is the importer of these shotguns for Greece, I'm gonna buy mine from him.

  15. Well, I already have the PK-01 but I'd like an open design one. From what I've heard here the Kobra is a guaranteed option, but again is kinda pricy for me.I've seen that Kabacan from Ebay sells a similar one from BelOmo for $145, I don't want to give more than $150 right now for a red dot.Take a look here. I got the POSP 8x42 from him for my .410

Maybe I'll mount the one I already have 'till I finally decide.Thank you all for the replies, I'll let you know with the results :P Btw does anybody knows if the VEPR carries a Weaver or a Picatinny?

  16. Hi,

I'm posting this here cause the Saiga 12 is the cousin of the the VEPR 12 I'm about to buy.I think that a Red Dot scope is ideal for all this practical shooting and fun stuff I'm about to do.I am looking for a good quality scope in a logical price. From all I've seen I think the best is the EOTech stuff and next comes the Aimpoint IMO.Both of them are very expensive for my budget. One that is of high quality and good price is the UltraDot Pan AV that costs about $150.A link for those who want to see Here .I wanted one with a slim style window and not the classic tube one.I know some of you people ha the russian Cobra but I think the VEPR 12 don't have a side rail to mount it.I'd like to know if any of you people have any experience with the Pan AV or know the quality of any other UltraDot product. Thanks :)

  17. i read somewhere here not to use plastic shells, or at least they are not reccomended. true or false.

Well, I have experienced problems with plastic shells.I don't remember anything about the length or the brass, but what happened is that the plastic part stayed in the chamber when the ejector threw out only the brass part. This happened with both piston settings.Crap shells maybe? If you would workout an answer I would be grateful.

Btw some other feeding problem I had, was that the shell hit the upper part of the chamber when trying to get in, not when I cock it, but when shelf-loaded by gases. This tended to happen with both the 10-rounder mags I have, and looked like a problem of the shell angle.Note both my 10-rounders are genuine Izhmash.

  18. Greece is the only country in the western world that enforced communist laws and I am not talking only about guns but about everything (just make the mistake to try to form a company in Greece and you'll find out). By the way since u r heading to Afganistan rumours say that the ex Greek ambasador there adopted a 25 year muscular Afgani as his son. The honorable ambassador was reputed as of the breech loading type , since talking about firearms.

    Joe

Well ok, many of our laws suck big time, but never thought they're similar to the communist form of goverment. But think about it a bit.The geopolitical location of Greece, is kinda unique. To the east, there is Turkey, wich refers to the arab world.North of us is the ex eastern block, and south, Egypt, wich also refers to the arab world. To the west, we have Italy, wich is definately a western world country. As you see there could be lots of affections through civilizations.Btw, where are you from Joe?

Who gives a damn about a gay embassador? :haha:
